Abstract

The main features of the application include adding, saving, updating, removing, and clearing all tasks, providing users with essential tools for effective task management. The purpose of this study is to demonstrate the feasibility of developing a functional to-do list application using MIT App Inventor, highlighting its potential as a rapid prototyping tool for beginners and educators. The research method involves a comprehensive process starting from designing the user interface, implementing the application logic, conducting rigorous functional testing, and gathering user feedback to ensure the application meets user needs. The user interface design focuses on simplicity and ease of navigation to ensure that users can interact with the application intuitively. The implementation leverages MIT App Inventor's block-based coding system to develop the core functionalities of the application. Functional testing is performed to verify that all features operate correctly, and user feedback is collected through surveys and interviews to evaluate the application’s effectiveness and usability. The results of this research indicate that the application is effective in helping users manage their tasks efficiently. Users, particularly those without a technical background, found the application easy to use and beneficial for organizing their daily activities. The study concludes that MIT App Inventor is a valuable tool for developing simple yet functional mobile applications and can be an excellent educational resource for teaching basic programming concepts. This research contributes to the understanding of how visual programming platforms can democratize app development and provide practical tools for everyday task management.

Abstract

Mobile applications have become an integral part of our daily lives, offering a wide range of functionalities from entertainment to productivity. One platform that facilitates the creation of mobile applications is MIT App Inventor, which enables users to design and develop Android applications through an intuitive, block-based programming interface. This journal discusses the development of two simple applications using MIT App Inventor: a login application and a coloring application. The login application is designed to authenticate users before allowing access to specific content, ensuring security and controlled access within the app. This feature is critical in many applications to protect sensitive information and provide a personalized user experience. The second application, a coloring app, is designed to offer an interactive and creative experience for users by allowing them to color various images. This type of application is not only entertaining but also educational, as it can help users, especially children, in developing their fine motor skills and color recognition abilities. The coloring app includes features such as selecting different colors and drawing on a canvas, making it engaging and easy to use for people of all ages. The development process for both applications is detailed, including the design of the user interface and the implementation of key functionalities using MIT App Inventor's block-based programming environment. For the login application, the focus was on creating a secure and user-friendly authentication process, while for the coloring application, the emphasis was on providing a smooth and enjoyable drawing experience.

Abstract

This journal presents the development and evaluation of an Ideal Body Weight Calculator Application using MIT App Inventor on the Android platform. The application aims to provide a user-friendly tool for calculating ideal body weight based on established formulas, thereby promoting health awareness and facilitating healthy lifestyle choices. By integrating intuitive design principles and leveraging MIT App Inventor's capabilities, the application offers a seamless user experience. Users input their height and gender into the interface, which then computes and presents the ideal weight range. The study discusses the design methodology, implementation process, and usability evaluation, emphasizing the application's potential in encouraging users to monitor and manage their weight effectively.

Abstract

Aplikasi ini dibangun dengan menggunakan MIT App Inventor untuk menghitung jumlah langkah kaki pengguna dengan memanfaatkan sensor pedometer yang terintegrasi dalam perangkat seluler. Tujuan utama dari aplikasi ini adalah untuk memberikan pengguna kemampuan untuk secara akurat memantau dan melacak aktivitas fisik mereka sehari-hari. Aplikasi dalam kategori kesehatan dan kebugaran (health and fitness) dapat memberikan informasi kepada penggunanya berkaitan dengan kesehatan dan kebugaran tanpa batasan tempat dan waktu, serta dapat membantu pengguna untuk mencapai target kehesatan dan kebugarannya (Higgins, 2016; Prins, Alsaqaf, Hettinga, van Berkel, & Stomphorst, 2015; Rao & Krishna, 2014).MIT App Inventor dipilih sebagai platform pengembangan karena kemudahannya dalam membuat aplikasi Android tanpa memerlukan keterampilan pemrograman yang rumit. Sensor pedometer pada perangkat seluler digunakan untuk mendeteksi gerakan langkah kaki. Aplikasi ini mengambil data dari sensor pedometer secara real-time dan secara otomatis menghitung jumlah langkah yang diambil oleh pengguna.Antarmuka aplikasi dirancang agar sederhana dan mudah digunakan. Pengguna dapat melihat jumlah langkah mereka saat ini secara langsung. Data tersebut bersifat sementara dikarenakan dalam tahap pengembangan dan uji coba.Keamanan dan privasi pengguna dijaga dengan tidak mengunggah data ke server eksternal. Aplikasi ini hanya mengakses sensor pedometer yang terdapat pada perangkat seluler pengguna, sehingga data aktivitas pribadi mereka tetap aman.Dengan adanya aplikasi ini, diharapkan pengguna dapat lebih termotivasi untuk meningkatkan gaya hidup aktif mereka. Aplikasi ini juga dapat menjadi alat yang berguna bagi individu yang peduli akan kesehatan dan ingin memantau kemajuan mereka dalam mencapai tujuan kebugaran pribadi

Abstract

Mobile application development has become an important need in today's digital era. One particularly useful app is a language translator app, which facilitates cross-language communication effectively. This article discusses developing a translator application using MIT App Inventor. The drag-and-drop approach provided by MIT App Inventor allows developers, especially beginners, to create mobile applications without having in-depth programming knowledge. This application is designed to translate text from one language to another directly, utilizing a simple user interface to make it easier for users to interact with the application.

Abstract

This research was conducted at the UPT. Balai Pelaksana Penyuluhan Ketahanan Pangan Pertanian dan Perikanan (BP2KP3) located at Jl. Keramat Indah, Medan Tenggara, Medan City, North Sumatra, from March to June 2024. The study aimed to assess the effects of applying liquid tofu waste organic fertilizer (POC) on the growth and yield of lettuce plants. The research used a Randomized Block Design (RBD) with four treatments and six replications, resulting in 24 experimental plants. The treatments applied were: P0 = 0% tofu liquid waste, B = 15% tofu liquid waste (150 ml/1 liter of water), C = 30% tofu liquid waste concentration (300 ml/1 liter of water), and D = 45% tofu liquid waste concentration (450 ml/1 liter of water). The study results indicated that applying doses of tofu liquid waste influenced plant height and leaf count parameters but had no effect on leaf area and net weight of the plants. From the study, it was concluded that the optimal impact of liquid tofu waste POC on the growth and yield of lettuce plants (Lactuca sativa L.) has yet to be achieved.

Abstract

This study aims to investigate the high-order thinking skills (HOTS), biological literacy, and the relationship between HOTS and biological literacy of Grade X students at SMA Negeri 1 Labuhan Deli regarding virus material. A sample of 36 students was randomly selected for this quantitative research, employing a descriptive quantitative method. Data collection techniques included interviews, documentation, and tests. Data analysis was conducted using statistical methods, particularly descriptive statistics. The findings revealed that students’ HOTS fell into the “good” category with scores ranging from 61 to 80, with the highest percentage of indicator occurrence (76.9%) for evaluating problems. Regarding biological literacy, students demonstrated a “very good” level of understanding in evaluating explanations (83.9%). In the aspect of conducting procedures, students achieved a “good” level (63.7%), while in explaining phenomena, they reached a “fairly good” level (46.4%). A positive correlation was found between HOTS and biological literacy in Grade X students’ understanding of viruses.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the effect of applying liquid organic fertilizer from Kepok banana stems on the growth and yield of Samhong mustard greens. The design used was a non-factual completely randomized design (CRD) with four treatments and six repetitions with doses of 0%, 10%, 20% and 30%. This research was carried out in the FMIPA greenhouse at Medan State University. The parameters tested were plant height, number of leaves, leaf area, wet weight and dry weight. The research results showed that the optimum dose of applying liquid organic fertilizer from Kepok banana stems to Samhong mustard greens was a concentration of 10%. Providing liquid organic fertilizer from kepok banana stems (Musa paradisiaca L.) had a significant effect on height growth, number of leaf blades, leaf area, wet weight and dry weight of Samhong mustard greens (Brassica juncea L.).

Abstract

This research is motivated by the problem of unstable sales every year in Bacarito Kopi Padang. This is due to the inadequate quality of service, including parking that is not too wide and less regular as well as the service of some baristas who are less friendly and less smiling. The purpose of the study to determine the quality of Service Bacarito coffee in improving consumer satisfaction by using the Servperf method. Proposed improvements that need to be improved and improved on Bacarito coffee using IPA method. There are two methods used, namely Servperf and IPA. The Data used is in the form of primary data, namely data from questionnaires that have been distributed to 100 respondents with alternative answers using a Likert scale. The results showed the quality of Service Bacarito coffee in improving consumer satisfaction by using the Servperf method of 0,89. This means that consumers have not been satisfied with the quality of service provided, it is characterized by Q ≤ 1 which is 0,89 < 1. The IPA method in the Cartesian diagram shows that 4 of the 24 attributes used for proposed improvements are in quadrant I. The main priority for proposed improvements is in the attributes regarding menu information that must be clear, employee politeness and friendliness, parking area security and procedures for complaining about problems. This research can provide recommendations for business actors in the food and beverage industry to improve and increase the quality of service to consumers.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji teknik pembesaran ikan nila (Oreochromis niloticus) menggunakan sistem bioflok pada kolam bundar. Penelitian dilakukan selama 53 hari di Balai Pelatihan dan Penyuluhan Perikanan (BPPP) Banyuwangi. Ikan nila dengan ukuran awal 12 cm ditebar dengan kepadatan 576 ekor/m³. Parameter yang diamati meliputi pertumbuhan ikan, manajemen pakan, dan kualitas air. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan peningkatan bobot ikan dari 31,2 gram menjadi 83,5 gram, dengan laju pertumbuhan spesifik (SGR) 1,98% per hari. Nilai Food Conversion Ratio (FCR) sebesar 3,2 pada akhir penelitian. Kualitas air berada pada kisaran optimal dengan suhu 27,5-28,9°C, pH 7,1-7,5, dan oksigen terlarut 5,5-6,1 mg/L. Penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa sistem bioflok efektif dalam mendukung pertumbuhan ikan nila Jatimbulan, namun diperlukan optimasi lebih lanjut untuk meningkatkan efisiensi pakan.
