Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic has had a significant impact on mental health, particularly among students facing unique pressures such as distance learning, social isolation, and uncertainty about the future. This study explores the benefits of regular physical activity in improving mental health among college students during the pandemic. Using a qualitative approach, this study utilizes literature study methods and library research to analyze existing studies on the relationship between physical activity and mental health. The findings suggest that regular physical activity plays an important role in reducing symptoms of anxiety, depression, and stress, thereby improving overall well-being. Exercise has been shown to release endorphins, improve sleep quality, and improve self-esteem, all of which contribute to better mental health. In addition, physical activity provides a constructive channel for managing stress and a sense of routine and normalcy during times of uncertainty. The study emphasizes the importance of incorporating physical activity into daily routines to reduce the adverse impact of the pandemic on mental health. University administrations and policymakers are encouraged to promote and facilitate access to physical activity opportunities for students. Further research should focus on longitudinal studies to better understand the long-term benefits of physical activity on mental health and identify the specific types of exercise that are most effective. The integration of physical activity in mental health strategies is essential to building a resilient and healthy student population in the face of ongoing global challenges.

Abstract

Understanding mental health stigma is essential to addressing global health inequalities. This study uses a qualitative approach through literature review and library research to examine various dimensions of mental health stigma in various cultural contexts. By synthesizing findings from various qualitative studies, we aim to uncover common themes and unique cultural factors that influence stigma against mental health. Our analysis reveals that stigma is widespread and appears in a variety of ways, significantly influencing individuals' desire to seek help and comply with treatment. Factors such as cultural beliefs, social norms, and lack of education contribute to the sustainability of stigma. In addition, the role of media and language in shaping perceptions of mental illness is also explored. The study highlights the need for culturally sensitive interventions and policies that address the root causes of stigma. These findings suggest that global efforts to reduce mental health stigma should consider cultural specifics and involve community-based strategies to encourage acceptance and support for individuals with mental health conditions. Further research should focus on the development and evaluation of such interventions to ensure their effectiveness in a variety of cultural settings. By broadening our understanding of mental health stigma from a global perspective, this study contributes to a broader discourse on mental health equity and the development of more inclusive health policies.

Abstract

In 2018, the WHO reported that 41.8% of maternal deaths in developing countries were associated with anemia. Increasing hemoglobin levels can be supported by consuming fruits rich in iron, folic acid, and vitamin C, with dragon fruit being one of the beneficial options. This study aimed to assess the effectiveness of dragon fruit and Fe tablets in raising hemoglobin levels among pregnant women in Puluhan Village, Trucuk District, Klaten Regency. Utilizing a literature review approach, the study involved searches across PubMed and Google Scholar, using keywords such as "Dragon Fruit Juice," "Fe Tablets," "Hb Levels," and "Pregnancy." From 2020 to 2023, four relevant journals were identified and analyzed. Participant characteristics showed that most were aged 20-35 years (80%), with a high school education level (35%), predominantly homemakers (65%), multiparous (50%), and had a gestational age of less than 37 weeks (65%). The average Hb level before receiving dragon fruit and Fe tablets was 11.40 g%, which rose to 11.72 g% after the intervention. Thus, the provision of dragon fruit and Fe tablets was found to have a positive effect on hemoglobin levels in pregnant women..

Abstract

Anemia during pregnancy is a prevalent condition with significant implications for maternal and fetal health, posing public health challenges in various countries. This scoping review aims to identify and synthesize the factors associated with the incidence of anemia among pregnant women, examining biological, behavioral, and socio-economic influences. A systematic search was conducted across multiple databases, focusing on studies published in the last decade that address the prevalence and determinants of anemia in pregnancy. The findings indicate that anemia in pregnancy is associated with a range of factors, including nutritional deficiencies (particularly iron, folic acid, and vitamin B12), maternal age, parity, and pre-existing health conditions such as malaria and intestinal infections. Additionally, socio-economic factors such as low income, limited education, and inadequate access to healthcare services further exacerbate the risk of anemia. Behavioral aspects, including dietary habits and prenatal care adherence, also play a critical role. This review highlights the need for comprehensive strategies that integrate nutritional interventions, health education, and improved healthcare access to address the multifaceted causes of anemia in pregnancy. By understanding these factors, health policymakers and practitioners can develop targeted interventions to reduce the incidence of anemia among pregnant women, ultimately improving maternal and child health outcomes.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of labor massage on pain and quality of life of pregnant women. This study uses a quantitative design with a simple linear regression approach involving 100 maternity mothers as a sample. The results of the analysis showed that the variable of labor massage had a positive and significant influence on the pain of maternal quality of life, with a regression coefficient of 0.181 and a regression equation of Y = 17.473 + 0.181X. The results of hypothesis testing showed that the t-count value (2.065) was greater than the t-table (1.660) and the significance value of 0.042 was less than 0.05, which means that childbirth massage had a significant effect on the quality of life of pregnant women. The Gate Control Pain theory is used to explain that labor massage can activate the body's natural pain control mechanisms. These findings support the use of massage as one of the effective non-pharmacological methods to reduce pain and improve the mother's quality of life during childbirth. Based on these results, it is suggested that childbirth massage can be applied routinely as part of maternity care in health facilities.

Abstract

Stroke is the third leading cause of death in the world after coronary heart disease and cancer in both developed and developing countries. One in 10 deaths is caused by stroke. In 2018, the highest number of provincial doctors diagnosed stroke patients was in East Kalimantan Province (14.7%) and the lowest in Papua Province (4.1%), while stroke patients in NAD province were as many as 7.8%. The objective was to determine the relationship between the level of dependence of Activity of Daily Living (ADL) and the quality of life in post-stroke patients at the Neurological Polyclinic and Al-Bayyan 1 Inpatient Room, Meuraxa Banda Aceh Hospital. This study uses a correlation method with a cross sectional approach. The research sample was 34 respondents taken by the Purposive Sampling technique. The research instrument used a modification of the Barthel index questionnaire and the EQ-5D questionnaire. The data was analyzed using the chi square statistical test. Based on the results of the study, it was found that stroke patients who had a partial dependence level of 47.1%, patients who experienced a poor quality of life of 58.8%. Based on statistical tests, it was obtained that the p value was 0.000 < 0.05 with a correlation coefficient of r = 0.695, which means that there is a strong relationship between the level of dependence of Activity Of Daily Living (ADL) and the quality of life in post-stroke patients at the Neurological Polyclinic and the Al-Bayyan Inpatient Room, Meuraxa General Hospital, Banda Aceh. The higher the level of dependence on a person's activities, the worse the quality of his life. It is recommended for patients to undergo medical rehabilitation for the prevention of physical disabilities, and family support in providing motivation to patients is important.
