Core Subject : Education,
Journal of Action Research in Education (JARE) is concerned with exploring the dialogue between research and practice in educational settings. The considerable increase in interest in action research in recent years has been accompanied by the development of a number of different approaches: for example, to promote reflective practice; professional development; empowerment; understanding of tacit professional knowledge; curriculum development; individual, institutional and community change; and development of democratic management and administration. Proponents of all these share the common aim of ending the dislocation of research from practice, an aim which links them with those involved in participatory research and action inquiry. This journal publishes accounts of a range of action research and related studies, in education and across the professions, with the aim of making their outcomes widely available and exemplifying the variety of possible styles of reporting. It aims to establish and maintain a review of the literature of action research. It also provides a forum for dialogue on the methodological and epistemological issues, enabling different approaches to be subjected to critical reflection and analysis.

Abstract

This research aims to improve the cognitive learning outcomes of 3rd grade students of SDN Keleyan 3 in Natural and Social Sciences (IPAS) subjects through the use of game-based maze learning media. The research method used is Classroom Action Research (PTK) with a qualitative approach, carried out in two cycles. Cycle I uses the conventional lecture method, while Cycle II applies labyrinthine media. Data was collected through observation, interviews, questionnaires, and documentation. The results showed a significant increase in students' cognitive learning outcomes from an average of 40.8% in Cycle I to 81.5% in Cycle II. Labyrinth learning media has been shown to be effective in improving cognitive learning outcomes, student understanding, active participation, and learning motivation. These findings confirm the importance of using innovative learning media that are in accordance with the characteristics of elementary school students.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effectiveness of implementing the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model in improving the cognitive learning outcomes of fifth-grade students at SDN Alasrajah 2 in the subject of Pancasila Education. This classroom action research was conducted in two cycles. In the pre-cycle stage, only 40% of students met the minimum mastery criteria. After applying the PBL model in the first cycle, the percentage increased to 80%, and further improved to 92% in the second cycle. These results demonstrate that the PBL model effectively enhances students’ cognitive performance, encourages active participation, and fosters critical thinking skills through problem-solving activities related to real-life issues and Pancasila values. It can be concluded that PBL is a highly effective learning model for improving student outcomes in civic education at the elementary level.

Abstract

This project aims to enhance teachers' ability to use AI-based digital learning media, such as videos and digital books, to implement the Merdeka Curriculum in elementary schools. Participatory action research was used as the research method, and the activities were implemented at SDIT Ulil Albab Kamal Bangkalan in the form of initial observations, training sessions, project facilitation, and evaluations. The result of the pre-training survey showed that most of the teachers were unfamiliar with how AI can be relevant to education materials. Training increased the knowledge and skills of teachers, as evidenced by their ability to create innovative, curriculum-based teaching videos and digital books with interactive content. This study demonstrates that incorporating AI into teacher preparation enhances teaching quality and reinforces teachers' roles as 21st-century learning facilitators.

Abstract

The advancement of learning innovation in the 5.0 era is characterized by the integration of modern technologies, such as the Internet of Things and artificial intelligence, as well as big data analysis that focuses on a more personalized and interactive learning experience. In the current context, education in this setting should not only be oriented towards the mastery of material or theory but also be able to develop critical and creative skills, especially in facing global challenges. Project-based learning, collaboration between students, and the combined use of digital platforms are important elements in creating an inclusive and adaptive learning environment. By utilizing this technology, it is expected to increase both effectiveness and efficiency in the learning process and to form work-ready individuals. This research aims to explore one of the learning models in the 5.0 era in an effort to increase interest in learning in higher education by using the Kit I-Ied learning model innovation. The Kit I-Ied learning model innovation is a development of the Kit I-Sir learning model innovation. Kit I-Ied offers the use of learning models by covering three aspects of education, namely cognitive, psychomotor, and affective, with the latest technology in the form of queezezz applications. This research uses a qualitative approach, where data is obtained through interview and observation techniques. The results showed that integrating digital technology, in this case the Kit I-Ied model, as an innovation in the Islamic Education study program was able to increase student interest in learning, as evidenced by the creativity and critical analytical level of students who were enthusiastic about attending lectures.
