Abstract

Students’ low interest in mathematics is an instructional problem because mathematics is often perceived as difficult and less engaging. This study describes the implementation of the Missouri Mathematics Project (MMP) learning model in attracting students’ interest in learning mathematics in class VII-B of SMP Negeri 9 Pasuruan. The study used a descriptive quantitative approach and was conducted in the odd semester of the 2023/2024 academic year. The subjects were 30 students, consisting of 15 female and 15 male students. The learning process followed the MMP stages: review, concept development, controlled practice, seatwork, and assignment. The instrument was a 24-item mathematics learning interest questionnaire covering enjoyment, attention, interest, and involvement. The data were analyzed using a percentage formula and classified according to learning interest criteria. The results showed that enjoyment reached 74.44%, attention 75.41%, interest 77.22%, and involvement 72.36%. Overall, students’ mathematics learning interest reached 74.86%, categorized as fair. Therefore, MMP can attract students’ interest in learning mathematics, particularly in the interest aspect.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the process of solving contextual problems of integers in class VII junior high school through the application of Realistic Mathematics Education (PMR) approach. The research method used was descriptive qualitative. This research instrument used LKPD. The results showed that grade VI students can solve contextual problems seen from the horizontal mathematization process and vertical mathematization. Based on the results of the study, Grade VI students at one of the elementary schools in Kediri City have been able to solve contextual problems on whole number material with the PMR approach.

Abstract

The impact of learning with an independent curriculum can make students more interested in learning because there are new things such as often being in groups and students are more active, but there are problems in the learning process. Where the independent curriculum itself is a curriculum that places more emphasis on the character and competence of students. So student perceptions here are very important because the aim is to determine their perceptions regarding the implementation of the independent curriculum in mathematics learning regarding positive and negative impacts on students. This research uses a qualitative descriptive method. The results of the research show that the independent curriculum has a positive impact on students, but apart from that, several things mean that the implementation of the independent curriculum has not run optimally.

Abstract

This research explores the ethnomathematics concepts contained in the traditional game of stilts in Kudus Regency, Central Java. The stilt game was chosen because it contains various mathematical elements that are interesting to explore, such as probability, statistics and trigonometry. This research uses a qualitative approach with ethnographic methods, where data is collected through direct observation, in-depth interviews and document analysis. The research results show that the stilt game contains mathematical concepts that can be used as an effective learning tool for students. By understanding ethnomathematics in stilt games, mathematics can be taught in a way that is more real and related to local culture, thus making mathematics learning more interesting and easier to understand.

Abstract

Martial Art is one of the legacies of the ancestors of the Indonesian people which developed from the kingdom era to the present. Pencak Silat is a very popular martial art. One of them is Pencak Silat from the Faithful Heart Terate Brotherhood (PSHT). The aim of this research is to explore ethnomathematics in the PSHT Pencak Silat movement with a focus on geometric concepts. This research uses descriptive qualitative research. Data was collected through interviews with sources from one of the PSHT members, observation and documentation. The results obtained show that angle concepts such as obtuse angles, acute angles and right angles are present in PSHT Pencak Silat movements. Apart from that, the concept of straight line geometry was also discovered.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the impact of using Funny Block teaching aids on sixth-grade elementary school students’ understanding of rectangular prism geometry. The primary issue faced by students is the difficulty in grasping abstract spatial concepts when learning is conducted only theoretically. This research employs a quantitative method with an experimental design. Sixty students were divided into two groups: the first group was taught conventionally, while the second group used Funny Block teaching aids. Data were collected through short essay tests and analyzed using t-tests and the Mann-Whitney U test. The results show that the average test score of the Funny Block group was higher than the conventional group. The Mann-Whitney U test revealed a statistically significant difference. Students using Funny Blocks demonstrated better visualization skills, particularly for problems requiring spatial comprehension. This teaching aid effectively supports students in understanding abstract concepts concretely, improving accuracy and efficiency in problem-solving. The study concludes that using Funny Blocks significantly enhances students’ understanding of rectangular prism geometry compared to conventional methods. Therefore, this teaching aid is recommended as an innovative learning medium to improve the quality of mathematics education in elementary schools.

Abstract

Mie Ayam Bang Mamad is a culinary business located near UIN K.H. Abdurrahman Wahid Pekalongan and is a popular dining destination for university members and the public. However, it remains unclear whether its single-cashier service system can accommodate customer arrivals, especially during peak hours. This study aimed to analyze the performance of the queueing system using the M/M/1 queueing model to evaluate service efficiency. A descriptive quantitative approach with a case study design was employed. Data were collected on Monday, April 13, 2026, from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. (WIB), involving 50 customers. The research instrument consisted of an observation sheet recording customer arrival times, service start times, and service completion times. The results indicated a customer arrival rate of 8 customers per 10 minutes and a service rate of 9 customers per 10 minutes. On average, there were 8 customers in the system and 7 customers waiting in the queue. Customers spent an average of 10 minutes in the system and 9 minutes waiting in line. The cashier utilization rate reached 88%, indicating that the service system was not yet optimal. Therefore, adding an additional cashier during peak hours is recommended to improve service quality and reduce customer waiting times.

Abstract

The integration of digital learning in elementary schools has become an effort to support learning processes that are more interactive, contextual, and aligned with technological advancements. This study aimed to describe the development process and determine the validity and practicality of a Heyzine-assisted digital book on geometry materials in elementary school. The study employed the Research and Development (R&D) method using the ADDIE development model implemented through the Analyze, Design, Development, and Implementation stages. Data were collected through observation, interviews, questionnaires, and documentation. Product validation was conducted by material experts, design experts, and learning practitioners. The results showed that the developed digital book achieved a very high level of validity, with material expert assessment reaching 93.75%, design expert assessment reaching 97%, and learning practitioner assessment reaching 96.25%. The practicality test results also indicated a very practical category, with individual trials obtaining 95.24%, small-group trials 97.61%, and large-group trials 98.41%. Based on these findings, the Heyzine-assisted digital book was considered highly valid and highly practical, making it suitable to support the integration of digital learning in geometry instruction at the elementary school level.

Abstract

Conventional methods that remain dominant in mathematics instruction tend to render students passive, prone to boredom, and challenged by abstract concepts. This study aims to describe the implementation of a Smart TV-based "Deep Learning Approach" to enhance student engagement in mathematics lessons. In this context, the term "deep learning" refers to a pedagogical approach rather than the field of Artificial Intelligence. The study employed a qualitative, descriptive design and was conducted at SMP Negeri 4 Rejang Lebong between May and June 2026. The participants included one mathematics teacher and 26 students from class VIII B. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, and subsequently analyzed using data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion-drawing techniques. The findings indicate that the implementation of the Smart TV-based Deep Learning Approach successfully enhanced student engagement across behavioral, emotional, and cognitive dimensions. Students demonstrated active participation by asking questions, engaging in discussions, and grasping mathematical concepts; they were also able to relate lesson material to real-life situations through the use of visual media, videos, animations, and contextual learning activities. Thus, the Smart TV-based Deep Learning Approach serves as an effective instructional alternative for boosting student engagement and fostering a more meaningful mathematics learning experience.
