Abstract

One of the main food commodities in the world, including Indonesia, rice requires continuous efforts to increase productivity. The use of plant growth-promoting rhizobacteria (PGPR), which are microorganisms that function to enhance plant growth through various biological mechanisms, is one approach that is increasingly receiving attention. PGPR can accelerate flowering, increase resistance to abiotic stresses such as drought and salinity, and aid nutrient uptake, especially nitrogen and phosphorus. In addition, PGPR can reduce dependence on pesticides and chemical fertilizers and support more environmentally friendly agricultural practices. Recent studies have shown that the use of PGPR in marginal lands can increase crop yields, improve root structure, and increase water use effectiveness. In addition, the use of PGPR and seed coatings can improve germination and early plant growth. PGPR offers a sustainable solution for national food security as it has great potential to be applied to non-ideal lands such as saline soils. However, there are still problems to apply, mainly due to the growing bacterial population and varying environmental conditions. Therefore, additional research is needed to create ideal PGPR formulations and application methods to support sustainable agriculture in Indonesia.

Abstract

Plants have two main mechanisms to cope with drought: avoidance and tolerance. Drought-avoidant plants usually accelerate their life cycle, while tolerant plants make osmotic adjustments and increase root growth. Stomatal closure, triggered by the hormone abscisic acid (ABA), plays an important role in reducing transpiration and maintaining cell turgor. This study highlights the importance of physiological adaptation in enhancing plant drought resistance.

Abstract

This research aims to examine the use of organic fertilizer and its impact on environmentally friendly sustainable agriculture. This research was carried out through literature studies from various related literature. Organic fertilizer which comes from natural materials such as plant residues and livestock waste, has benefits in improving the structure of the soil, increasing water retention capacity, and supporting ecosystem sustainability. This research discusses the types of organic fertilizer. From the results of the study, it was found that organic fertilizer was able to increase soil fertility, support microbial activity, and reduce dependence on the use of chemical fertilizers. However, challenges such as the lower nutrient content compared to chemical fertilizers, the decomposition time which takes quite a long time, and even the lack of understanding of farmers are the main obstacles. In conclusion, this study emphasizes that organic fertilizer is an important element in sustainable agriculture, especially in maintaining soil quality and the environment.

Abstract

Abstract

This research compares soil infiltration capacity on organically and conventionally managed land to determine the impact of management on soil quality and sustainability. Measurements were carried out using a double ring infiltrometer at two different locations with similar soil characteristics. The results showed that organic soil had a significantly higher infiltration capacity compared to conventional soil. This is related to the higher organic matter content and better soil structure on organic land. Higher infiltration capacity supports better soil water balance, reduces the risk of erosion, and increases resilience to climate change, making organic management a more sustainable option in agricultural practices. It is hoped that these findings can support the development of agricultural policies that are oriented towards environmental sustainability.

Abstract

This study discusses the dynamics of water movement in soil with a focus on the effects of texture, structure, and bulk density on water movement. The study was conducted using an experimental method in the laboratory, using various types of soil with different textures. The results show that soil texture affects infiltration capacity and permeability, while soil structure plays an important role in supporting water flow. Bulk density was also shown to have a significant effect, where soil with lower density showed higher water movement speeds. These findings provide important insights for water resource management and soil conservation.

Abstract

Modern technologies play a vital role in supporting crop protection and maximizing productivity. The study explores various cutting-edge technologies, such as sensor-based systems, drones, and biological pest control, to manage biotic and abiotic stresses on crops. The study also highlights the use of genomics and genetic engineering to develop crop varieties that are resistant to pests and diseases. The results show that these technologies not only improve crop protection efficiency but also reduce dependence on hazardous chemicals, supporting the sustainability of agricultural ecosystems. In addition, the integration of blockchain technology in the supply chain ensures transparency and food safety. The study concludes that the right understanding and application of modern technologies can significantly boost crop productivity growth, while addressing the global challenge of meeting the ever-increasing food demand.

Abstract

Biological control of plants is a way of managing pests and diseases by utilizing living organisms, such as predators, parasites, parasitoids, or microorganisms, including bacteria, fungi, and viruses. The aim is to reduce the population of plant pest organisms (OPT) Hasyim, dkk. (2015). This method is applied to maintain ecosystem balance, minimize the use of chemical pesticides, and support sustainability and environmental health in agricultural systems. This research employs a literature study technique, which attempts to locate, investigate, assess and interpret various important research.

Abstract

Soil serves as the medium for plant growth, where plants absorb nutrients to support their development. Soil fertility is influenced by the availability of nutrients that plants can absorb. These nutrients are essential for physiological processes and plant structure formation. This article discusses the role of soil microorganisms in sustainable agriculture, where the diversity and health of microorganisms contribute to biogeochemical cycles and the balance of the soil ecosystem. Microorganisms such as bacteria, actinomycetes, fungi, algae, and protozoa play a significant role in supplying nutrients for plants.

Abstract

The development of solutions to improve soil quality and agricultural sustainability is an important concern at this time, land use that is not considered makes the environment polluted and has a major impact on agricultural sustainability. This research aims to review and analyze the potential of Rhizobium in Nitrogen fixation to maintain an environment away from pollution. The research method used is Systematic Literature Review, where various references will be collected and linked into one information. The results stated that the utilization of Rhizobium in the Nitrogen fixation process is an environmentally friendly solution that strengthens and supports sustainable and environmentally friendly agriculture. The research also states that Rhizobium is able to survive in drought and acidic soil conditions even though it disrupts the effectiveness of the Nitrogen fixation process. Further research is needed to identify the effect of Nitrogen fixation by Rhizobium as an environmentally friendly solution and support soil fertility.
