Abstract

Enforcement of fisheries criminal law in Indonesia is an important effort to protect fisheries resources from the threat of Illegal, Unreported, and Unregulated (IUU) Fishing. This study aims to analyze the challenges and solutions in enforcing fisheries criminal law through a literature review. The research method used is literature study by analyzing secondary data from various sources, including scientific journals, books and statutory regulatory documents. The research results show that the main challenges in enforcing fisheries criminal law in Indonesia include incompatibility between national policies and local implementation, limited human resources and technology, and corruption problems. To overcome this problem, it is necessary to increase coordination between agencies, increase human resource capacity, and use more sophisticated technology. This study concludes that integrated and sustainable efforts are needed to increase the effectiveness of law enforcement in the fisheries sector in Indonesia

Abstract

Mangroves are important ecosystems that provide a variety of ecosystem services, but are threatened by deforestation and land conversion. The integration of wanamina, a coastal agroforestry system that combines fish cultivation with mangrove conservation, is proposed as a potential solution. This research uses a qualitative approach with case study methods from Indonesia, the Philippines and Bangladesh to evaluate the implementation of wanamina. The results show that the integration of agroforestry can increase fisheries productivity and maintain the function of the mangrove ecosystem. In Indonesia, fishermen's income increased by 20% and deforestation was reduced by 15%. In the Philippines, shrimp production increased 25% and mangrove biodiversity increased. In Bangladesh, pressure on mangrove ecosystems is reduced and community welfare is increased. The success of agroforestry depends on government policy, community participation, knowledge and local ecological conditions. Wanamina has great potential as a model for sustainable coastal resource management

Abstract

Climate change impacts global food security through reduced crop yields, disruptions in supply chains, decreased food quality, and pressure on water availability. This study reviews the literature on the effects of climate change on food security and finds that rising temperatures, changing precipitation patterns, and extreme weather events significantly affect food production, distribution, and accessibility. Crop yield reductions are attributed to higher temperatures shortening the growing period of plants, while climate change also affects the nutritional quality of crops and exacerbates water crises. Disruptions in supply chains lead to increased food prices, disproportionately affecting vulnerable groups. Proposed adaptation strategies include developing climate-resilient crop varieties, improving water use efficiency, and implementing sustainable agricultural practices, alongside developing supportive policies for food security

Abstract

This research was conducted at Malaga Beach, Siwalu Banua II Village, Gunungsitoli Idanoi District, Gunungsitoli City, North Sumatra Province, with the aim of determining the feasibility of beach tourism objects from the limiting factors of the Tourism Suitability Index Value (IKW). This research was carried out for 1 month, namely from the beginning of March to the beginning of April 2021. The method used in this research was the purposive sampling method. The analysis parameters used are depth, beach type, beach width, bottom water material, current speed, beach slope, water brightness and beach land cover. Based on the results of observations, it shows that the Malaga Beach tourist attraction has good potential because it has a wide sand beach and has not big waves. The research results show that the Tourism Suitability Index (IKW) value is 58.16% and is classified as S3 (Conditionally Suitable) level of suitability. This value provides information that the tourist attraction is in the appropriate category conditionally for the feasibility of its development. The condition for the development in question is the appropriate use of potential, namely the potential width or breadth of the beach as well as the presence of shady pine and palm trees by creating comfortable shelters such as tourist tents, gazebos, children's toys. Thus, Malaga Beach, Siwalu Banua II Village, Gunungsitoli Idanoi District, Gunungsitoli City, North Sumatra has good potential to be developed into a recreational tourism and children's play location, but is not suitable for swimming tourism.

Abstract

This research aims to explore the influence of soil texture and structure on the distribution of water and air in soil profiles. Using a quantitative approach and a field experiment design, data were were collected from several sites with a variety of soil types, including sandy, dusty and loamy soils. The results showed that loamy soils have higher water retention capacity (35%) and greater total porosity (50%) compared to sandy soils, which only had a 10% water retention capacity and 35% total porosity. In addition, good soil structure, especially in dusty soils, supports optimal air circulation. optimal air circulation. These findings emphasize the importance of proper management soil texture and structure to improve water use efficiency and support sustainable crop growth. and support sustainable crop growth.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of soil moisture content and soil corrosiveness on fertilizer efficiency in maize crops. The method employed is an experimental approach with treatments of different soil moisture levels (low, medium, and high) and the measurement of soil corrosiveness. The results showed that optimal soil moisture positively contributes to plant growth, with higher average plant height and yields at high moisture levels compared to low moisture levels. Additionally, soils with low corrosiveness are better at retaining water and nutrients, thereby enhancing fertilizer uptake efficiency. The interaction between soil moisture and soil corrosiveness was found to significantly affect crop yields. This study concludes that effective management of soil moisture and corrosiveness can improve fertilizer efficiency, and it provides recommendations for farmers to adopt precise fertilization strategies for sustainable agriculture practices.

Abstract

This research aims to develop a soil physics model to predict the movement of water and nutrients in modern agricultural systems. This model includes water flow modeling using the Richards equation as well as nutrient distribution using an advection-dispersion approach. Soil data was obtained through direct measurements in the field and laboratory tests, while the model was validated using field data to evaluate prediction accuracy. The research results show that soil texture and water capacity greatly influence water flow and nutrient distribution in the soil, with fairly high model accuracy values (R² = 0.89 for water flow and MAE = 0.12 for nutrient distribution). The use of this model provides guidance in more efficient scheduling of irrigation and fertilizer applications, supporting sustainable resource management. These findings show that soil physics models can play an important role in precision agriculture to increase land productivity and maintain environmental sustainability

Abstract

This research examines the permeability characteristics of sandy and clay soils and their implications for irrigation management in agricultural systems. Soil permeability is a key factor in determining water use efficiency and optimal irrigation strategies. The research methodology includes laboratory analysis of sandy and clay soil samples from various agricultural locations, measuring physical soil characteristics, infiltration rates, water storage capacity, and hydraulic conductivity. The results show significant differences between the two soil types, where sandy soil has high permeability ranging from 10^-3 to 10^-2 cm/second, low water storage capacity, and rapid infiltration rates, thus requiring more frequent irrigation with smaller volumes. In contrast, clay soil has low permeability ranging from 10^-7 to 10^-6 cm/second, high water storage capacity, and slow infiltration rates, requiring less frequent irrigation with larger volumes. Based on these results, specific irrigation management recommendations were developed that include irrigation schedule adjustments, water volume regulation, selection of appropriate irrigation methods, and water conservation techniques. This research provides important contributions to optimizing irrigation water use based on soil permeability characteristics, which can improve water use efficiency and agricultural productivity.
