Abstract

This research aims to explore the application of agrotechnology innovations in improving agricultural productivity and sustainability in Nias Islands. The main challenges of the agricultural sector in this region include limited resources, climate instability and minimal access to technology. The research used a mixed approach (qualitative and quantitative) with surveys, in-depth interviews and field observations. Results show that micro-irrigation technology and waste-based organic fertilizer are the most widely adopted innovations. These technologies can increase crop productivity by up to 30%, although there are still obstacles in the adoption of advanced technologies such as satellite image-based land mapping due to limited infrastructure and farmer knowledge. The research also identified positive socio-economic impacts, including improved farmer welfare and land sustainability. In conclusion, the development of simple technologies such as micro-irrigation and organic fertilizer offers great potential to improve production efficiency, provided there is close collaboration between the government, academia and local communities. Key recommendations include improved access to technology, intensive training, and integration of local wisdom in sustainability strategies.

Abstract

This study aims to develop nitrogen extraction from natural growth regulators to support efficient and environmentally friendly organic farming. Experimental methods were used with biological materials such as bamboo shoots, bean sprouts, leaves, brown sugar, EM4, and coconut water. The procedure involved fermentation for seven days to produce liquid ZPT. The results showed that nitrogen extraction from these natural materials effectively increased the growth potential of plants. The color, texture, and composition of the solution changed during the fermentation process, reflecting the activity of microorganisms supporting the development of the ZPT. The discussion highlighted the potential of utilizing natural ZPT as an alternative to synthetic fertilizers that are expensive and have a negative impact on the environment. This research concludes that nitrogen extraction from biological materials is an innovative solution for sustainable agriculture with cost efficiency and minimal environmental impact. Large-scale implementation could extend its benefits to farming communities, particularly in agrarian regions such as Nias Islands.

Abstract

This Sustainable agriculture is an important approach in facing global challenges such as soil degradation, climate change, and increasing food demand. This study aims to assess the benefits of implementing a good tillage system and using organic fertilizers in improving land productivity and the sustainability of agricultural ecosystems. Planned tillage involves soil and water conservation techniques that can minimize erosion and maintain soil fertility. Meanwhile, the use of organic fertilizers contributes to the improvement of soil structure, increased microorganism activity, and reduced dependence on synthetic chemical fertilizers. This study uses a qualitative method with data obtained from case studies in several agricultural areas that have adopted sustainable practices. The results show that the combination of good land management and the use of organic fertilizers not only increases agricultural yields, but also supports the sustainability of natural resources in the long run. This research is expected to contribute to the development of policies, training programs, and technical guidelines for farmers to realize a more environmentally friendly and efficient farming system.

Abstract

Traditional fisheries play a crucial role in supporting local economies, especially in coastal areas, and contribute to national food security. However, this sector faces numerous challenges, such as climate change, overfishing, and limited market access. This study aims to identify the role of local policies in supporting the sustainability of traditional fisheries and provide strategic recommendations. Using a descriptive qualitative method, data were collected through in-depth interviews, direct observation, and document studies in coastal communities. The results reveal that inclusive local policies, technical support, and fishermen empowerment can enhance the sustainability of this sector. However, challenges such as limited resources, weak oversight, and low community participation need to be addressed through multi-stakeholder collaboration. This study recommends enhancing fishermen's capacities, strengthening market access, and implementing community-based marine resource management to achieve long-term sustainability.

Abstract

The sustainable management of fishery resources has become a significant challenge in the modern era due to overfishing, habitat degradation, and illegal fishing activities. This study aims to identify effective management strategies through modern technological approaches and community-based frameworks. The research methodology employs a mixed-methods approach, encompassing interviews, questionnaires, field observations, and secondary data analysis across several strategic coastal regions in Indonesia. The findings reveal that utilizing technologies such as the Vessel Monitoring System (VMS) and data-sharing applications enhances the efficiency of fisheries management. Community-based approaches have also proven effective in preserving ecosystems and improving fishers' welfare. Moreover, regulations based on fish stock data are critical elements in ensuring the sustainability of the sector. This study concludes that synergy between technology, inclusive policies, and community participation is the key to achieving sustainable fishery resource management in the modern era.

Abstract

Environmentally friendly agriculture is a sustainable approach to reducing negative impacts on ecosystems. The use of organic fertilizers is a key solution to achieving this goal. Organic fertilizers not only enhance soil fertility naturally but also help reduce the use of synthetic chemicals that can harm the environment. This study aims to examine innovations in the production and use of organic fertilizers to improve efficiency and support sustainable agriculture. The findings indicate that modern technologies, such as microbial bioactivators and biochar, can enhance the quality of organic fertilizers, positively impacting plant productivity and environmental conservation. With proper innovations, organic fertilizers can become an optimal solution for future sustainable agriculture.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the effects of crop rotation on soil quality and water use efficiency in Gunungsitoli. The method used was a Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) with treatments consisting of monoculture and crop rotation systems. Data were collected from soil pH analysis, organic matter content, nutrient levels (N, P, K), and measurements of water use efficiency during the growth period. The results indicated that crop rotation significantly improved soil pH, organic matter content, and water use efficiency compared to the monoculture system. The implementation of crop rotation proved effective in enhancing soil quality and supporting sustainable agricultural practices. This study recommends crop rotation as a strategy to boost agricultural productivity and preserve natural resources.

Abstract

Agricultural waste generated from the crop production process can be a valuable resource if managed properly. The use of microorganisms in the treatment of agricultural waste has proven effective in improving soil fertility. Bacteria, fungi, and actinomycetes are examples of microorganisms that can make organic matter more easily digested by humans. The objective of this study was to analyze the role of microorganisms in agricultural layers and their moisture in relation to soil fertility. The findings of this study show that the use of microorganisms in agricultural composting and fermentation processes increases the amount of nutrients in the soil, improves soil structure, and increases its microbiological activity. This approach not only increases productivity but also reduces environmental degradation,

Abstract

Soil microbiota play an important role in improving soil quality and supporting plant tolerance to abiotic stresses such as drought, salinity, extreme temperatures and pollution. Soil microorganisms, such as bacteria, fungi and microalgae, are involved in various processes that support plant growth and improve soil structure and fertility. Microbial activities such as nitrogen fixation, decomposition of organic matter, breakdown of toxic compounds, and formation of biofilms that protect plants from pathogens and harmful environmental factors are important in enhancing plant resilience. In addition, microorganisms also help increase nutrient availability and regulate soil pH. This can affect the ability of plants to survive under abiotic stress conditions. This article reviews the various mechanisms by which soil microorganisms enhance stress tolerance in plants and their potential application as biotechnological agents for sustainable agriculture to address the challenges of climate change.
