Abstract

This study examines female leadership in developing Islamic educational institutions at SDIT 1 Daarussalaam, North Sangatta. The background of this research is the persistent social stigma that questions women's capabilities as leaders, particularly within Islamic education settings. This study employs a descriptive qualitative approach through observation and in-depth interviews with the principal, teachers, and staff, supported by secondary data from school documents. The findings reveal that female leadership at this school is based on professional competence and traits such as gentleness, empathy, and a collaborative approach. Supporting factors for success include the use of technology and strong team cooperation. On the other hand, challenges arise from limited communication with male colleagues and difficulties in interacting with male parents. This study contributes theoretically and practically by strengthening recognition of women's roles as leaders in Islamic educational institutions. It recommends the implementation of technology-based leadership training and the enhancement of professional communication while maintaining ethical conduct.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the reliability, discriminatory power, difficulty level, and overall quality of the year-end assessment (PAT) items for the Islamic Cultural History (SKI) subject at MI Supervisor Surabaya. The research employed a descriptive qualitative method and was conducted at MI Supervisor Surabaya with 4th-grade students as the subjects. The analyzed instrument consisted of 25 multiple-choice questions from the SKI PAT. The selection of the 4th-grade level was based on the limited number of previous studies analyzing test items at this level, as well as the accessibility of collaboration with teachers at the school. Data were analyzed through three stages: data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results showed that the reliability coefficient of the evaluation instrument was 0.88, indicating a very high level of reliability. This means the test items would produce consistent results if administered repeatedly. The discriminatory power analysis revealed that 11 items had sufficient quality, 3 items were categorized as good, and item number 12 showed the lowest quality, making it unsuitable for use. Based on the recap of item analysis, 21 items (52%) were considered valid and usable, 5 items (12.5%) required revision, and 14 items (35%) were deemed unsuitable for inclusion in the assessment.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the development strategy of student organizations in a newly established Islamic university through a case study of the Student Executive Board (BEM) of STAI Alif Laam Miim Surabaya. New Islamic universities often face various challenges in managing student organizations, such as limited human resources, minimal experience of student organizations, and weak institutional development systems. This study uses a qualitative approach with a case study method. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation of BEM activities. The results of the study indicate that organizational development is carried out through three main strategies, namely: (1) strengthening spirituality and prophetic leadership values, (2) developing cadres through training and socio-religious activities, and (3) synergy between supervisors and students in building a productive and religious organizational culture. The results of this study provide implications for the development of student institutions in other Islamic universities so that they are able to build organizations that are adaptive, professional, and have an Islamic character.

Abstract

The era of disruption, marked by digital advancement, the Merdeka Belajar (Freedom to Learn) policy, and post-pandemic social changes, has transformed the teacher’s role from a mere transmitter of knowledge into a facilitator of relationships between schools and communities. This study employs a library research method to analyze the dynamics, driving factors, and implications of this transformation from the perspective of contemporary sociology of education. The findings reveal that teachers’ roles are increasingly oriented toward collaboration, participation, and cross-stakeholder partnerships, driven by technological innovation, social demands, and educational policies emphasizing autonomy and collective cooperation. Despite challenges such as increased workload, digital inequality, and ethical boundaries in online interactions, teachers act as agents of change who reconstruct educational social relations in more inclusive and participatory ways. This transformation underscores that teachers are not only adaptive to disruption but also serve as key drivers of education grounded in humanity, collaboration, and community values.

Abstract

Multicultural education is an important requirement in Indonesia's education system, which is characterised by cultural, ethnic, religious and social diversity. This approach is necessary to foster tolerance, respect for differences and the ability to live harmoniously in a pluralistic society. The research questions in this study were simplified into three: how is the concept of multicultural education understood; what are the challenges faced in its implementation; and what strategies can be applied to optimise its implementation in educational institutions. This study aims to describe the concept of multicultural education, analyse the obstacles to its implementation, and offer relevant development strategies. The results of the study show that although multicultural education is of high urgency, its implementation still faces obstacles such as teacher readiness, an unintegrated curriculum, and limited facilities. Therefore, it is necessary to strengthen the competence of educators, integrate multicultural values into the curriculum, and provide school policy support so that multicultural education can run more effectively.

Abstract

This study aims to analyse the role of guidance and counselling services in preventing and addressing the negative impacts of social media abuse among students. The research approach used was a descriptive qualitative approach, with data collected through in-depth interviews, participant observation, and documentation of guidance counsellors, homeroom teachers, subject teachers, and students at SMAN 2 Sangatta Utara. Data analysis was conducted using the Miles and Huberman interactive model, which includes data condensation, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results show that guidance and counselling services have three leading roles. First, the preventive role, realised through basic services such in providing information on digital literacy and social media ethics, as well as group guidance on social media abuse. Second, the handling role, through individual and group counselling services that help students recognise unhealthy social media usage patterns and develop adaptive coping strategies. Third, the development role, through ongoing mentoring that strengthens students' self-regulation skills and emotional intelligence, so that they can use social media wisely and responsibly. This study extends the application of self-regulation and emotional intelligence theories in the context of digital-based guidance and counseling services, emphasizing the strategic role of guidance and counseling teachers in shaping healthy social media behavior and fostering a positive digital literacy culture in the school environment.

Abstract

This research aims to examine the strategic role of teachers in the educational process and character building of students at MIN 1 Kutai Timur, as well as to identify supporting and inhibiting factors. Using a descriptive qualitative approach with data collection through observation, interviews, and documentation, the study finds that teachers function as versatile learning facilitators and moral role models. The results indicate that teachers at MIN 1 Kutai Timur do not only transfer academic knowledge but also instill character values such as discipline, honesty, empathy, and responsibility through innovative methods, including group discussions, projects, and the use of educational technology. The implementation of varied teaching methods and personal approaches has proven effective in increasing learning motivation and helping students understand material according to their diverse learning styles. However, teachers face challenges such as heavy administrative burdens, limited resources, and diverse student characters that require special handling. Support in the form of routine supervision from the headmaster and continuous competency training is key to optimizing the teacher's role. Collaboration between teachers, parents, and school administrators is essential to ensure character values are internalized holistically and sustainably.
