Abstract

Background: Fatigue is a common problem in both formal and informal workplaces. World Health Organization (WHO) states that mental disorders in workers such as feelings of excessive fatigue lead to depression and are the second most common disease after heart disease. Work fatigue is a common problem in the workplace that is often encountered in the workforce and is a problem that requires attention. This study aims to Analyze the influence of workload, work shifts and work duration to work fatigue of inpatient nurses at Gambiran Regional Hospital, Kediri City. Methods: This research is quantitative with cross-sectional design, population in this research were all inpatient nurses total 174 nurses at Gambiran Hospital Kediri City. Based on slovin formula, sample in this research was 103 respondents. Data collection using questionnaire distributed directly to inpatient nurse, then analysis using multiple linier regression. Results: The regression analysis shows that workload and work duration significantly affect work fatigue among inpatient nurses at Gambiran Hospital, while work shifts do not. Work duration has the greatest influence, indicating that longer working hours increase fatigue more than workload. These findings align with previous studies showing that heavy workload and prolonged working hours contribute to nurse fatigue, whereas well-managed shift systems may mitigate its impact. Conclusions: The regression test results show that work duration has the greatest influence followed by workload, suggesting the need for further research on work fatigue with different variables among nurses in the Emergency Installation Room or Intensive Care Unit.

Abstract

Background: The increasing consumption of sugar-sweetened beverages (SSBs) has become a major public health concern due to its link with metabolic diseases, particularly Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (T2DM).  Understanding the relationship between SSB consumption and the risk and progression of T2DM, particularly in adult populations, is crucial for developing targeted interventions. This scoping review aims to summarize observational studies that investigate the association between SSB consumption and T2DM risk and progression in adult populations. Methods: This scoping review included nine studies published between 2017 and 2023. The inclusion criteria were studies that involved adult populations (≥18 years) and explored the relationship between SSB consumption and T2DM. Databases such as PubMed and Google Scholar were searched using keywords like ‘sugar-sweetened beverages,’ ‘type 2 diabetes,’ and ‘adult,’ and ‘progression.’ Results: The studies reviewed consistently showed a positive association between frequent SSB consumption and the risk of developing T2DM. Overall, the evidence supports that SSBs contribute significantly to the incidence and progression of T2DM, often through weight gain and increased insulin resistance. Conclusion: This review shows the strong association between SSBs and T2DM, urgent public health interventions are needed to regulate consumption, particularly among high-risk groups.  Future research was needed to examine the long-term impact of SSB on diabetes.

Abstract

Background: Job satisfaction in the health sector has become an important issue because it is a positive emotional state resulting from a job evaluation. Welfare policies for health professionals in various organizations can play a role, indicating that understanding work policies can affect job satisfaction. This study aims to analyze the influence of leadership and work culture on job satisfaction based on the organizational citizenship behavior (OCB) model on health workers at the Jember Regency Health Center. Methods: This study used a cross-sectional design with the population being health workers at the Jember Regency Health Center. This study involved 128 participants who were determined using simple random sampling techniques. The analysis in this study used logistic regression testing. Results: The results found that health workers reported the most transactional leadership styles (34.4%), clan culture (36.7%), and the level of job satisfaction was mostly low (53.9%). Logistic regression analysis shows that leadership style (OR: 6.155; 95%CI: 2.543-14.89) and work culture (OR: 4.016; 95%CI: 2.393-4.673) have a significant effect on the level of job satisfaction. Conclusions: Building a process of psychosocial change among health workers is necessary for leaders to form and maintain a transformational leadership style and clan culture as an effort to increase job satisfaction.

Abstract

Background: Hypertension remains a major global health problem and one of the leading risk factors for cardiovascular disease. Both non-modifiable and modifiable factors, such as stress, diet, and obesity, play a crucial role in its development. In Indonesia, hypertension continues to account for a high burden of morbidity, with an increasing prevalence reported in Madiun. This study aimed to analyze the association of stress, dietary patterns, and body mass index (BMI) with hypertension among patients at Denkesyah Clinic, Madiun, East Java. Methods: This study employed a cross-sectional study conducted at Denkesyah Clinic, Madiun, East Java, in October 2024. A total of 87 respondents were selected using purposive sampling from patients enrolled in the chronic disease management program (Prolanis). Data on stress were collected using the Self Reporting Questionnaire-20 (SRQ-20), dietary patterns were assessed with a Food Frequency Questionnaire (FFQ), and body mass index (BMI) was calculated using weight and height measurements. Hypertension was defined as systolic blood pressure ≥140 mmHg and/or diastolic ≥90 mmHg. Data analysis included univariate, bivariate (Chi-square test), and multivariate logistic regression. Results: The study found that 52.9% of respondents experienced high stress levels, 59.8% had poor dietary patterns, and 44.8% were obese. Stress, poor dietary pattern, and elevated BMI were all significantly associated with hypertension (p < 0.05). Multivariate analysis showed that BMI was the most dominant risk factor, with an odds ratio indicating that obese individuals were more likely to develop hypertension compared to those with normal BMI. Conclusions: Stress, dietary pattern, and BMI significantly are associated with hypertension, with BMI being the strongest predictor. Public health interventions should focus on promoting healthy dietary habits, stress management, and weight control strategies to reduce the burden of hypertension in the community.
