Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of teachers in fine motor skill learning among children aged 5–6 years at TK Tahfidz RHQ Samarinda, an early childhood education institution that integrates Qur’anic memorization (tahfidz) with child development programs. This study employed a qualitative approach using a case study method, focusing on the educational setting as the research context. The participants included classroom teachers and children aged 5–6 years, while the object of the study focused on teachers’ roles in planning, implementing, and evaluating fine motor skill learning integrated with tahfidz activities. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation and analyzed using data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing techniques. The findings reveal that teachers play strategic roles as planners, facilitators, and evaluators by integrating fine motor activities into tahfidz learning, including writing hijaiyah letters, coloring simple calligraphy, and engaging children in manipulative activities that support Qur’anic memorization readiness. The novelty of this study lies in the integration of fine motor skill development with tahfidz-based learning in an Islamic early childhood education setting, an area that remains underexplored in previous studies. The findings imply the importance of developing contextual and integrative learning strategies to optimize children’s fine motor development while simultaneously supporting holistic learning readiness.

Abstract

Emotional intelligence is a fundamental competence that plays an important role in the formation of individual character; however, the development of this aspect has not received sufficient attention in contemporary education systems. This study aims to examine the emotional intelligence of the Prophet Muhammad in his interactions with children as depicted in the hadiths, and to analyze its implications for early childhood character education. This study employs a qualitative method through library research with an interdisciplinary approach that integrates hadith studies and psychological perspectives, particularly the emotional intelligence theory of Bradberry and Greaves. Primary data consisting of hadiths from authoritative hadith collections were analyzed using content analysis based on four dimensions of emotional intelligence: self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, and relationship management. The findings reveal that the Prophet's interactions with children clearly reflect all four dimensions. His behaviors of kissing his grandchild, carrying a child during prayer, prolonging prostration for a grandchild's safety, comforting a grieving child, reprimanding with gentleness, and teaching etiquette communicatively are manifestations of high emotional intelligence. The Prophet's exemplary conduct implies that early childhood character education must be built upon a foundation of affection, empathy, self-control, and positive communication. This study contributes to integrating hadith scholarship with modern psychology as an alternative framework for developing character education based on the Prophet's exemplary conduct.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the importance of developing religious values and moral behavior in early childhood as a foundation for character formation. One strategy that can be used to instill these values is Islamic stories combined with a growth mindset approach. This study aims to determine the improvement of religious values and moral character in early childhood through a growth mindset-based Islamic story strategy. The study used a mixed methods approach with an explanatory sequential design. The research subjects were 10 children aged 5–6 years. Quantitative data were obtained through observations using religious values and moral character assessment sheets given before (pretest) and after treatment (posttest), while qualitative data were obtained through observations during the learning process and documentation of children's activities. Quantitative data analysis was carried out descriptively and inferentially using the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test method, while qualitative data were analyzed descriptively to clarify the results of the quantitative data analysis. The study showed that the average value of religion and moral character of children increased from 13 in the initial trial to 21.9 in the final trial. The results of the Wilcoxon Test showed that all children experienced an increase in scores after treatment. Qualitative findings indicate that children are more enthusiastic about participating in learning activities, are able to identify good behaviors through Islamic stories, are active in coloring and discussion activities, and are able to practice religious values and morals through role-playing activities. Combining the results of quantitative and qualitative research indicates that a growth mindset-based Islamic story strategy is quite effective in improving religious values and moral attitudes in early childhood. This is achieved through learning experiences that are meaningful, enjoyable, and developmentally appropriate.

Abstract

The limited understanding of teachers regarding the specific needs of visually impaired children often hinders the optimal development of their potential and talents. In fact, teachers play a central role in creating an inclusive learning environment. This study aims to explore the role of teachers in developing the talents of visually impaired students at SLB Pembina, East Kalimantan. This research employed a qualitative approach using participatory observation, in-depth interviews, and document analysis methods to obtain accurate data. The instruments used included observation sheets, interview guides, and document analysis sheets. The results show that teachers play a crucial role in helping visually impaired students develop their talents through an understanding of special needs, adapted learning methods, and emotional support. This study also found that an inclusive learning environment is essential for developing the talents of visually impaired students. Teachers must be able to adapt learning methods to the needs of visually impaired children. Therefore, this study recommends improving the quality of education for visually impaired children through inclusive learning environments and teacher training.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the low development of early childhood religious values caused by the use of learning media that is less interesting and less interactive. This study aims to determine the development of children's religious values, the application of softbook media, and the effectiveness of the use of softbook  media in developing children's religious values in Group B1 of Kindergarten Cendekia Tadulako. The research method used was quantitative with a quasi experiment  type using a one group pretest-posttest design. The subjects of the study were 20 children. Data collection techniques are carried out through observation, interviews and documentation, while data analysis uses a t-test (paired sample t-test). The results of the study showed that there was an increase in the development of children's religious values by 25% from pretest to posttest results. In detail, the increase in the aspect of knowing ablution before prayer is 25%, knowing hijaiyah letters by 28%, and knowing Allah's creation by 25%. The results of the hypothesis test showed a significance value of 0.000<0.05, which means that the use of softbook  media is effective in developing children's religious values. Thus, it can be concluded that softbook  media is effectively used as a learning medium to increase the religious value of early childhood education.
