Abstract

Referring back to the age-old tradition of Negative Theology and combining it with deconstructive 'Heuristic Way' of French Postmodern Philosophico-Theology , this article seeks to reiterate the centrality of 'Absence' vis-à- vis 'Metaphysics of Presence'. Theology of absence is offered as a middleway between affirmative and negative theology by incorporating some basic ideasof Derrida, Jean-Luc Marion, Michel Henry, Levinas and Marc C. Tylor. In the final analysis, it is 'Life' itself that is to be the focus of theology.

Abstract

Banyak konflik terjadi atas nama kebenaran dan kebebasan. Dan konflik menjadi lebih serius seringkali karena dikaitkan dengan kebenaran ilahi. Artikel ini hendak menunjukkan bahwa bukanlah kerinduan atas kebebasan, bukan pula keyakinan terhadap Tuhan, melainkan ilusi memiliki kebenaran, penyamaan sewenang-wenang kebebasan dan kebenaran, serta pemisahan antara kebenaran dari kehidupanlah penyebab utama konflik. Berdasarkan inspirasi Heidegger, artikel ini melihat kebenaran dan kebebasan dalam kaitan dengan kehidupan. Benar berarti setia dan beriman kepada kehidupan yang dinamis. Bebas berarti bebas dari dayadaya yang menghancurkan kehidupan, demi lebih membela tujuan-tujuan hidup yang lebih mendalam.

Abstract

Artikel ini meneliti pengaruh filsafat, kebudayaan dan agama terhadap pendidikan dan pengembangan sumberdaya manusia di bidang teknik. Filsafat telah berperan penting dalam mengembangkan gagasan, teori, sistem, dsb. dalam rangka memecahkan masalah di bidang pelatihan teknik. Dari pengamatan di dapatkan bahwa unsur-unsur kebudayaan tertentu memang menjadi beban bagi pengembangan tenaga teknis itu. Beberapa contoh adalah pelarangan perempuan untuk terlibat dalam program-program ilmiah dan teknologi; diskriminasi etnik dan religius. Di sisi lain agama-agama telah memberi kontribusi yang sangat berarti dalam pendirian lembagalembaga pelatihan.

Abstract

Artikel ini merenungi kembali unsur-unsur Gereja Katolik di Nederland sehubungan dengan rencana komunikasi religius kristiani tahun 2008. Tiga ciri paroki – territorialitas, struktur hirarki dan tekanan pada kepedulian- dibahas berdasarkan lima perkembangan masyarakat: menurunnya keanggotaan gereja; menurunnya jumlah relawan; berkurangnya persediaanpastor professional; menipisnya sarana pendanaan; meningkatnya pluralisme keyakinan religius. Pembahasan ini lantas diakhiri dengan membicarakan struktur organisasional komunitas religius alternatif yang tersedia.

Abstract

Adam Smith's position as a philosopher of Ethics has been consigned to oblivion due to his more popular thoughts on Economics. This article is an attempt to revisit the ethical side of his thought based on his book The Theory of Moral Sentiment. In this book, Smith made sharp distinction between virtue as morality for noble view, and propriety as moral quality forcommon people. Smith used the concepts of 'virtue' and 'propriety' to analyze human moral behaviour. We can trace this conceptual distinction back to an ancient Greek philosophical school, namely the Stoic Philosophy. This paper will describe the influence of the Stoic Philosophy to Adam Smith MoralPhilosophy.

Abstract

The old polarity between hyper-liberalism and hypercollectivism is in fact still very much alive until now. This article seeks to do justice to both poles by utilizing Hegel's “Philosophy of Mind”. The concept of 'worldconsciousness' is elaborated as Absolute Reason in which individual and society are united without losing themselves, without letting one be swallowed by the other.The ethical life developed by Hegel is a process in which individual comes to find her/himself through the dialectic between subjective and objective good. Society is viewed as an organism by which individual finds her/his dignityas a person.

The destruction of nature will keep going on if humans do not change their worldview. Reality should be viewed as an interrelated unity. Only in such worldview that the anthropocentric-dominative culture, with its utilitariantendency – the main cause of the destruction- can be overcome.
