Abstract

Tanjung Atap Village is one of the central areas of the craftsman industry in Tanjung Batu sub-district, with superior products being aluminum products. The lack of marketing and branding strategy development carried out by aluminum craftsmen in Tanjung Atap Village is a major challenge faced in the increasingly tight local and international market competition. Many craftsmen still use conventional marketing methods which have limited reach, making aluminum products in Tanjung Atap Village less well-known even though the product quality can compete in the market. The Thematic Community Service Lecture activity is aimed at strengthening the capacity of craftsmen in understanding the concept of branding, creating an attractive product identity and utilizing promotional media both online and offline, and increasing product visibility. Branding and promotion activities for aluminum products by craftsmen in Tanjung Atap Village have a significant impact on increasing the competitiveness of local products. Where the training activities for creating Instagram accounts, taking product photos, and making banners were carried out, they succeeded in providing craftsmen with effective promotional tools, both for offline and online marketing and craftsmen now have the tools needed to increase the appeal and reach of their product marketing. Craftsmen who initially did not understand the importance of branding now have a clear brand identity, supported by a logo, brand name, and a targeted promotional strategy, and craftsmen also learn to produce products that are of higher quality and have higher appeal, such as ergonomic and aesthetic designs.

Abstract

This article describes the results of community service activities that discuss communication strategies in crisis management for BPJS outpatients at the Muhammadiyah Hospital in Palembang. Along with increasing concerns about patient dissatisfaction due to long waiting times and inadequate communication, this activity aims to examine the role of health communication strategies in mitigating the crisis. The methods used include interviews, observations, and document analysis to explore the effectiveness of communication between hospital staff and patients. The results of this service identified significant improvements in communication response times and patient satisfaction, while highlighting the importance of transparency and empathy in crisis management. This study contributes to the understanding of the practical application of communication strategies in health services, with implications for improving patient experiences in the health care system in Indonesia.

Abstract

This article presents the results of a community service program aimed at enhancing patient complaint management services through improved communication practices by information service staff at Muhammadiyah Hospital Palembang. The program was conducted as part of the university's community engagement mission to support healthcare institutions in strengthening service quality. The method involved participatory training, simulation, and mentoring sessions focusing on communication ethics, active listening, and systematic complaint management. The evaluation results showed an improvement in staff communication competencies and increased patient satisfaction following the program. This activity highlights the strategic role of community service programs in addressing service gaps within healthcare institutions

Abstract

Hospitals are complex healthcare facilities with various service units, so patients and visitors often have difficulty finding the information they need. Visual communication plays an important role in facilitating access to information through effective and easy-to-understand designs. This study aims to design a visual communication system that can help patients and visitors find locations, understand service procedures, and access important information more quickly and efficiently at the Muhammadiyah Hospital in Palembang. The methods used in this study include direct observation, interviews with hospital staff, and user needs analysis. The results of the study indicate that the use of visual elements such as wayfinding maps, clear iconography, contrasting colors, and readable typography can enhance the effectiveness of information communication in hospitals. With the implementation of a well-designed visual communication system, patients and visitors can become more independent in seeking information, reduce confusion, and improve the overall healthcare experience.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation and impact of literacy and numeracy programs through the Community Service Recognition Program on the educational development of childhood cancer survivors. This study employed a qualitative approach with participatory methods through the KKN Rekognisi program for 1 months (April-May 2025) at the South Sumatra Children's Cancer Foundation. The program included home schooling, hospital schooling, social service activities, and information dissemination with a total of 180 activity hours. There was a significant improvement in children's literacy and numeracy abilities, where 80% of children were able to recite the alphabet, 75% could read simple words, 70% could write their names and short words, and 85% could recite numbers 1-10. Active participation of children increased from baseline conditions to more than 80%. The literacy and numeracy program through a learning-through-play approach proved effective in improving the academic and non-academic abilities of childhood cancer survivors, as well as providing positive impacts on their self-confidence and spirit of life.

Abstract

This article discusses social and community activities aimed at fostering a love for the Qur'an from an early age. These activities include memorizing Qur'anic verses, prayers, hadiths, as well as teaching Qur'anic recitation, tajweed, and interpretation through madrasahs and tilawati groups. Collaboration among village governments, religious leaders, and the community is key to successfully cultivating children's and teenagers' interest in reading and understanding the Qur'an. This program not only enhances skills in reading and memorizing the Qur'an but also builds strong Islamic character and love for Islamic culture. The positive impacts include increased religious awareness, enthusiasm for reading the Qur'an, and the formation of independent, morally upright young generations.

Abstract

Public communication plays a strategic role in character formation and instilling positive values ​​in elementary school-aged children. However, limited media and educational communication strategies often hinder the internalization of moral and social values ​​in the school environment. This community service activity was conducted at SDN 14 Indralaya with the aim of improving the effectiveness of school public communication as a means of educating students about the values ​​of honesty, discipline, responsibility, and cooperation. Implementation methods included initial observation, mentoring, and the application of participatory and creative educational communication media. The results of the activity showed an increase in students' understanding of positive values ​​and more active involvement in the communication process in the school environment. In addition, teachers gained alternative communication strategies that were more contextual and child-friendly. This activity demonstrated that public communication designed in an educational and participatory manner can be an effective means of supporting character formation in elementary school children.

Abstract

This community service activity aims to optimize the role of sports facilities as a medium for strengthening inter-village ties in the Ulak Banding area, South Indralaya District, Ogan Ilir Regency. The main problems faced by the community are the limited availability of adequate sports facilities and the lack of shared interaction spaces that can foster togetherness among villagers. The implementation method includes identifying community needs, repairing and procuring sports facilities, and implementing joint sports activities involving the village government and the local community. The results of the activity indicate that improving and utilizing sports facilities together can increase community participation in physical activity while strengthening social relations and a sense of togetherness between villages. This program also encourages the creation of a more harmonious social environment and contributes to improving the quality of life of the community. Thus, strengthening sports facilities can be an effective strategy in supporting community-based social development in rural areas.

Abstract

Bullying is a serious problem in elementary schools that can hinder children's social and emotional development. This community service activity was carried out at Indralaya 14 Public Elementary School with the aim of increasing awareness and capacity of the school community in preventing and handling bullying behavior and minimizing its impact on students' social-emotional development. The implementation method included observations of the school environment, interviews and discussions with teachers, students, and parents, as well as mentoring in implementing empathy-based bullying prevention measures and strengthening teacher supervision. This activity involved four teachers, 15 students (victims, perpetrators, and witnesses), and five parents as partners. The results of the activity showed that bullying in schools occurs in verbal, physical, and social forms, resulting in anxiety, low self-confidence, and social withdrawal in the victim students. After mentoring and strengthening the prevention program, positive changes were seen in students, particularly increased courage to interact, participation in class activities, and learning motivation. This activity emphasized the importance of implementing a sustainable anti-bullying program through the integration of character education and collaboration between teachers, parents, and the school in creating a safe and conducive learning environment for children's development.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the implementation of the "Komunikas Ceria" Wall Magazine Program as a school information medium for teaching positive communication to students at SD Negeri 14 Indralaya. The method used was descriptive qualitative research, with data collected through interviews, observations, and documentation throughout the program's implementation. The results showed that the program was effective in improving students' communication skills, as evidenced by their increased active participation in class discussions and their confidence in expressing ideas and opinions. Previously quieter students began to demonstrate greater self-confidence, while positive changes were also noted in social interactions between students. However, several challenges remain, particularly related to learning motivation, which still needs to be improved. This study concluded that the program's success depends not only on the implementation of learning techniques but also requires continuous support from parents and the school. It is recommended to continue this positive communication program with deeper integration into the curriculum and involving various stakeholders to enhance its comprehensive impact on students' socio-emotional development. Further research using mixed methods is also recommended to gain a more comprehensive understanding of the program's effectiveness
