Abstract

Water is a very important basic need for human life. The fulfillment of water needs in Beru Village is highly dependent on groundwater, which is extracted by digging wells. Due to the community’s dependence on the availability of well water, it is very important to monitor and assess groundwater quality in Beru Village. The lack of related research makes this research very important to do. The purpose of this study is to analyze groundwater quality in Beru Village, Jereweh District, West Sumbawa Regency. Water quality test parameters use the parameters include pH, temperature, conductivity, TDS, and DO. The average values of each parameter sequentially are 7.07; 30.18OC; 752.71 µS/cm; 377.91 mg/L; and 4.83 mg/L. On average, the quality of groundwater is classified as good and meets the required quality standards. Based on pollution index calculation, water quality based on parameters pH (PIj=0.92) and TDS (PIj=0.497) is classified as good, while water quality based on parameters temperature (PIj=1.079) and DO (PIj=1.162) is categorized as slightly polluted but relatively safe to use for sanitary hygiene needs.

Abstract

Several offshore platforms operating in the Java Sea have reported experiencing scour at varying depths, raising concerns about the safety and integrity of these structures. Scouring, an erosion phenomenon that occurs around these offshore platform structures due to their presence, is one of the most common issues encountered. The presence of scour can have a significant impact on the safety of these structures. To comprehend the implications of scour on structural safety, sensitivity analysis proves to be an invaluable tool. Sensitivity analysis establishes a relationship between changes in the safety parameters of the structure, obtained through linear analysis, and the depth of scour. By investigating this connection, sensitivity curves can be generated, enabling a conservative prediction of alterations in the strength parameters of the structure due to scour. In this study, a four-legged jacket platform structure underwent linear analysis under storm and seismic conditions using the SACS software. The scour phenomenon was simulated by adjusting the mudline's elevation beneath the structure, modifying the pile coordinates, reducing the length of piles beneath the mudline, and accounting for soil characteristics at each scour depth in the model. The sensitivity analysis revealed that the safety factors of the upper structural components, connections, and piles decrease at varying rates corresponding to each component type as the scour depth of the platform increases. By implementing these sensitivity curves, engineers and operators can make informed decisions regarding the maintenance and retrofitting of offshore platform structures to ensure their ongoing safety and structural integrity in the face of scour-related challenges. This research provides valuable insights into the critical relationship between scour depth and structural safety, enhancing our ability to protect offshore operations in the Java Sea and similar environments.

Abstract

When carrying out a simple house construction project, it is crucial to assess the implementation of reinforcing bar detailing for reinforced concrete structural components, as field errors often occur. Inaccuracies in the installation of such reinforcing bar detailing can lead to a decrease in the quality of the house, affecting its earthquake resistance. Based on this, the installation of reinforcing bar detailing must adhere to the applicable standards, namely SNI 2847-2019, SNI 8900-2020, and guidelines issued by the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing. The evaluation of the construction is obtained through a literature review method in line with field case studies. Field observations result in a depiction of errors in the reinforcing bar detailing, such as foundation cutting errors, incorrect stirrup spacing, stirrup bending errors, and the length of reinforcing bar placement in structural elements. Therefore, the reinforcing bar detailing work must be redone and reorganized according to the prevailing standards.

Abstract

Stamplat Girang Village has quite large potential for developing micro-hydro power plants using Kaplan turbines, considering the hilly topography and the presence of the Ciparay river. The Ciparay River has quite a large water flow throughout the year. The main objective of this research is the use of the Kaplan Turbine with variations in Ciparay river water discharge. Measurements of water flow velocity and cross-section of the Ciparay river were carried out directly in low rainfall conditions and in high rainfall conditions. The average water flow of the Ciparay river is lowest at low rainfall at 0.22 m3/s and highest at high rainfall at 1.46 m3/s. With an energy height of 2 m, the effective electrical power produced is 6,592 watts in low rainfall conditions and the highest produced is 18,098 watts in high rainfall conditions. The effective electrical power obtained can be directly beneficial to various aspects of the regional government's efforts to assist the development of Stamplat Girang Village in empowerment and environmental development as well as supporting the Indonesian government's efforts to encourage the development of micro hydro energy in achieving sustainable development goals.

Abstract

Geopolymer concrete has been the ideal replacement for Ordinary Portland cement concrete in producing green concrete. The binder in geopolymer concrete is a cementitious paste made from amorphous Aluminosilicate and activated by an Alkaline solution. The geopolymerization process is initiated at elevated temperatures. Thus, the curing requires elevated temperatures. This curing method limits the application of geopolymer concrete in the construction industry. In a geopolymer mix, the presence of Calcium ions allows the formation of Calcium Aluminate Silicate and Calcium Silicate Hydrate gels, allowing ambient temperature curing.  Therefore, this study investigates the effect of micro lime on the Sugarcane Bagasse Ash-based geopolymer concrete. The micro lime was added to the geopolymer concrete in 1, 3, 5 and 7% by the Sugarcane Bagasse Ash weight. A mix design was based on a Densified Mix Design Algorithm. The tests carried out included compressive strength and water absorption. Ambient curing of the SCBA-based geopolymer concrete was achieved with 1% of the micro lime. The compressive strength increased with the increase of the micro lime, 10N/mm2 at 1%, to 18.25N/mm2 at 7% micro lime. The ambient temperature-cured geopolymer concrete at 3% micro lime had the lowest water absorption rate.

Abstract

The reactivation of Garut train station offers a transportation alternative for Garut Regency residents, with a focus on enhancing mobility and boosting tourism. While the railway station has been reactivated, several factors come into play when people choose between buses and trains for public transportation. This study involved a random sample of the entire population and employed quantitative research methods, including multiple linear regression, to analyze various variables. The characteristics of travelers in the study are primarily women aged 21-25, with a monthly income between Rp. 2,000,000 and Rp. 4,000,000, working in the private sector, holding high school diplomas, traveling less than five times, preferring buses, and considering travel time. Factors influencing the choice between buses and trains include cost (X1), travel time (X2), and mode availability (X4). Multiple linear regression results yielded the equation Y = -2.008 (a) + 0.266 (X1) + 0.158 (X2) + 0.378 (X3) + 0.405 (X4). This data was further utilized in a binary logit model to determine the probability values of alternative public transport choices, revealing a 72% probability of choosing the bus and a 28% probability of selecting the train.

Abstract

Heavy rainfall causes drainage channels to handle excess water. Puddles and flooding often occur on the 50-meter section of Malangbong-Wado Road, necessitating an evaluation to ensure the drainage system is functioning properly. This research employs a quantitative approach, processing rainfall through a frequency distribution and testing it using the Chi-Quadrat and Smirnov-Kolmogorov methods. The rational method calculated the rainfall intensity and determined the five-year return period for flood discharge. The analysis results indicate that the drainage channel is unable to accommodate the planned discharge, necessitating an evaluation to ensure that the channel Q (Qs) exceeds the planned Q (Qr) or Qs >Qr. The average channel Q value was 2.51 m3/second, and the plan Q was 1.50 m3/second, according to the results. Thus, the channel, with dimensions of 0.8 meters wide and 1.00 meters high, can accommodate the discharge plan. Simulation results using SWMM V5.1 software demonstrate that channels with these dimensions can accommodate discharge plans.

Abstract

This research paper conducts an evaluation of residential satisfaction within government-provided four-storied apartment complexes situated in civil-servant housing areas in Naypyitaw City, Myanmar. As the construction of these apartment buildings continues to address the housing demands of civil servants, comprehending the determinants of residents' contentment becomes paramount. The study encompasses data collected from 500 households through structured questionnaires employing a multi-cluster sampling approach. These questionnaires utilize a five-point Likert Scale format to gauge residents' levels of importance and satisfaction. Gap Analysis is employed to scrutinize the gathered data, ultimately identifying seven pivotal attributes that hold the potential to substantially enhance residential satisfaction. These attributes encompass ceiling height, apartment layout plan, room and corridor dimensions, quantity of rooms, staircase design, neighborhood relations, and proximity to police stations. Based on these revelations, recommendations are tendered, advocating the modification and reevaluation of these attributes in forthcoming housing developments. This underscores the imperative need for creating a livable city by ensuring the provision of essential services in closed proximity to residential areas.
