Abstract

This community engagement program aims to strengthen the halal value chain of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in Hagu Selatan Village, Banda Sakti District, Lhokseumawe City through knowledge transfer based on the Indonesian halal value chain model. MSMEs play a vital role in regional economic development, yet many still face challenges in understanding halal–thayyiban principles, fulfilling certification requirements, managing production processes, and accessing Islamic financing. Limited adoption of digitalization also reduces their competitiveness in the rapidly growing halal industry. The program applies a participatory approach by involving universities, village authorities, and MSMEs. Key activities include needs assessment, training on halal value chain concepts, technical assistance for halal certification documents, workshops on digital business practices, and business clinics on Islamic financing. A Halal Value Chain Learning Circle is also established to support continuous collaboration and knowledge sharing. The program is expected to enhance MSME capacity, improve product quality, expand market access, and contribute to a sustainable halal ecosystem in Aceh

Abstract

Traditionally, individuals wishing to sell scrap or secondhand goods often rely on waiting for mobile collectors to pass by, which is inefficient and time-consuming. Furthermore, the prices of certain scrap items frequently fluctuate without the seller's knowledge, leading to a lack of transparency and fairness in transactions. To address these issues, this study developed a smartphone-accessible system designed to streamline and facilitate transactions for secondhand goods. This research introduces Trashgo, a Spiral-model-based application that serves as an online platform for trading waste and scrap materials. The system features a dynamic pricing mechanism that updates in real-time, keeping users informed of current market values and enabling them to make informed decisions. Additionally, the application integrates Location-Based Services (LBS), allowing for real-time tracking of both collectors and customers, optimizing logistics and simplifying the pick-up process for scrap dealers. By facilitating faster and more efficient transactions, Trashgo aims to enhance the overall user experience, ensuring that both buyers and sellers benefit from fair pricing and improved convenience. The implementation of Trashgo seeks to foster efficient and transparent transactions, ultimately contributing to the reduction of waste and the promotion of sustainable practices within the secondhand goods market.

Abstract

The development of crypto assets has become a global investment trend, particularly among the younger generation in Indonesia, who are highly adaptable to digital technology. However, in cities like Surakarta, the rapid adoption of crypto assets presents a challenge, as the pace of youth investment surpasses the adaptation of local legal protection systems. This study examines the participation of young investors in crypto assets from a legal perspective and analyzes the implications for regional policies in Surakarta. Using a qualitative approach with systematic library research, data were gathered from indexed journals and regulations, and analyzed through a juridical qualitative approach and content analysis. The findings reveal that young investors in Surakarta are vulnerable to scams and have limited legal knowledge, despite their high digital literacy. The dualistic national legal framework, which regulates crypto as a commodity, fails to address the protection gap. This highlights the need for proactive local policy intervention. Rather than introducing new regulations, the study suggests an educative, non-regulatory approach, such as establishing a Collaborative Digital Investment Education Program, creating a Regional Crypto Consultation Task Force, and offering Blockchain-Based Innovation Incentives. These initiatives aim to guide youth participation in crypto investment safely and sustainably, while strengthening the local economy and MSMEs.

Abstract

This article explores how the identity of Wong Solo is expressed and maintained in the former areas of Surakarta through the use of language and its preservation. The research uses a literature review approach to examine the topic. The study is based on the idea that the cultural identity of the Surakarta community is formed not just by social activities and traditions, but also by the way people communicate, which reflects shared values, a sense of history, and a feeling of belonging. By looking at literature in the fields of linguistics, cultural anthropology, and local citizenship studies, the research identifies how the Surakarta dialect of Javanese plays a key role in reinforcing the identity of Wong Solo during times of fast social change. The study finds that language-based identity is shown through the words people choose, the way they speak, the rules of politeness, and the specific ways of speaking that are part of Surakarta society. However, factors like globalization, urban development, and influences from other cultures challenge the stability of this identity, especially among the younger population. Efforts to keep the language alive are seen in various cultural preservation projects, the revival of Javanese writing, local government actions, and increased community participation. The study argues that language is essential in keeping Wong Solo identity alive, while also acting as a place where tradition and modernity meet, shaping the changing identity of the former enclaves of Surakarta.

Abstract

This study examines the integration of acupuncture and herbal medicine into the health system of Surakarta City through a literature review of regulations, service practices, and the socio-cultural dynamics that shape community acceptance. The analysis shows that the integration of traditional health services, particularly acupuncture and herbal medicine, has strong relevance to community health needs while aligning with Surakarta’s cultural identity, which has long embraced jamu traditions and traditional healing practices. The findings indicate that this integration has the potential to enhance community quality of life by expanding therapeutic options, increasing cultural comfort, and strengthening promotive and preventive health efforts. Furthermore, opportunities within the creative economy, especially those related to herbal-based products and traditional health services, provide broader contributions for local micro-enterprises, traditional health practitioners, and the health-tourism sector. This integration can serve as a bridge between modern healthcare and cultural heritage, fostering a holistic approach to well-being. Nevertheless, the integration process continues to face challenges, particularly in regulatory frameworks, service quality, and the need for professional training to meet modern health standards. Addressing these challenges is essential to ensure the sustainable integration of acupuncture and herbal medicine into the city’s health system, with potential positive impacts on both public health and local economic growth.

Abstract

This study explores how the concept of ecological citizenship can strengthen collaboration between the government and society in building a healthy city in Surakarta. Using a literature review method, it examines various studies related to ecological citizenship, community participation, and sustainable urban policy. The findings show that a healthy city is not only determined by government policy and infrastructure but also by citizens’ awareness and active involvement in environmental protection. The core values of ecological citizenship such as responsibility, participation, and environmental justice help cultivate collective behavior that supports urban ecological sustainability. The government plays a vital role as a facilitator of collaboration, while citizens act as key agents of innovation through community-based activities such as waste banks, urban gardens, and neighborhood greening. However, challenges remain, including limited resources, unequal participation, and low environmental awareness among some residents. Therefore, stronger synergy between public policy, environmental education, and civic engagement is needed to foster an ecological culture. This study concludes that a sustainable healthy city can only be achieved when ecological citizenship becomes part of the collective consciousness of all urban residents.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the integration of local wisdom into regional policies, particularly concerning the strengthening of herbal medicine in Surakarta City. As a city with a strong Javanese cultural heritage, Surakarta holds significant potential in developing traditional herbal medicine rooted in local values and empirical community practices. The research method employed is library research, involving an in-depth review of academic literature, regional regulations, and relevant policy documents. The analysis was conducted qualitatively using a descriptive-analytical approach to identify patterns of integration between local wisdom, traditional health systems, and regional government policies. The findings indicate that the success of strengthening herbal medicine is strongly influenced by the synergy between the preservation of local knowledge, regulatory support, and partnerships among traditional practitioners, academics, and government institutions. Moreover, the integration of local wisdom into regional policy not only contributes to local economic development but also enhances community health independence. This study emphasizes the importance of culturally grounded yet innovative policies in addressing the health needs of modern society.

Abstract

This study aims to critically examine the role of citizenship as a pillar in supporting the sustainability of the local economy, focusing on the city of Surakarta as the case study. Using a literature review method, this research analyzes recent academic sources related to local economic development, citizen participation, local government policies, and relevant citizenship values in the context of sustainable development. The findings indicate that citizenship is not merely a legal status, but also reflects the active involvement of citizens in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of local economic policies. Citizen participation, supported by economic citizenship literacy, collaborative partnership models with the government, and responsive regulatory frameworks, significantly strengthens the legitimacy and effectiveness of local economic governance. On the other hand, the literature also highlights persistent challenges, such as limited citizen capacity, unequal access to information, and weak participatory institutions. Therefore, the role of the government is crucial in promoting meaningful citizen engagement through institutional strengthening and the integration of citizenship values into local regulations. This study offers both theoretical and practical insights for developing inclusive and sustainable local economic governance at the municipal level.
