Abstract

The digital era has made photography an essential skill, especially with the advancement of smartphone technology, enabling users to produce high-quality photos. However, many students have yet to understand how to optimally utilize camera features. This program aims to enhance the creativity of STAIN Madina students through smartphone photography training. This community service activity employs the Participatory Action Research (PAR) method, involving students in all stages of the activity: planning, implementation, and evaluation. The training was conducted over three days, covering basic photography theory, field practice, and digital portfolio development. Evaluation was carried out through pre-tests, post-tests, and an exhibition of participants' works. The training successfully improved the students' photography skills. A total of 85% of participants demonstrated improved photography outcomes after the training. Additionally, participants were able to create digital portfolios to showcase their works. Satisfaction surveys revealed that 90% of participants found the training beneficial for developing their creative and professional skills. The results indicate that the PAR approach is effective in increasing participant engagement, which positively impacts their skills and creativity. The training not only provided technical benefits but also opened new opportunities for students to utilize photography as a medium of expression and a potential career path.

Abstract

The Arabic language learning mentoring program at TPA Nurussajadah aimed to enhance students' Arabic language skills and strengthen the foundations of Islamic education. This initiative employed various interactive approaches, including language games, simulations, and interactive dialogues, which actively engaged students in the learning process. Additionally, the program provided intensive training for teachers, equipping them with modern and effective teaching methods tailored to young learners. The results were promising, showing a significant improvement in students' understanding of Arabic, with an average score increase of 30% compared to their initial assessments. Teacher competence also saw notable enhancements, allowing for more confident and effective instruction. Parental involvement was another key achievement, as parents became more engaged in their children's educational journey, reinforcing the importance of learning Arabic at home. The program's success highlights the effectiveness of interactive and immersive teaching strategies combined with comprehensive teacher training in improving students' language skills and supporting Islamic education. However, to ensure the program's sustainability, ongoing efforts are needed to address challenges such as limited facilities, inadequate teaching resources, and the varying levels of student proficiency. These issues require strategic planning and community support to maintain and build upon the program's successes.

Abstract

This article examines the role of the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS) in deradicalization programs in Nigeria. Its objectives are to analyze the programs and services provided by NCoS, identify the challenges encountered, and evaluate NCoS’s efforts in safeguarding the human rights of program participants. The study adopts a qualitative approach with a case study design. Data were collected through literature reviews, interviews with NCoS officers, program participants, and community leaders, as well as observations in several correctional facilities. The findings reveal that NCoS has developed comprehensive deradicalization programs but faces significant challenges, including overcrowding in correctional facilities, limited funding, and a shortage of professional staff. While NCoS has made efforts to protect the human rights of program participants, stigma and discrimination remain substantial hurdles. Community involvement in the reintegration of former extremists is also crucial, though it requires more effective strategies. This article provides recommendations to enhance the effectiveness of deradicalization programs in Nigeria. These include improving correctional facility capacity, developing programs and curricula, enhancing the competence of personnel, and strengthening monitoring and evaluation systems.

The program featured hands-on training sessions, simulations, and mentorship by local religious leaders to enhance the participants' competence and confidence. The results demonstrated significant improvements in the children's ability to lead prayers, deliver sermons, and engage in public speaking, fostering a sense of responsibility and pride. Despite challenges such as limited training duration and facilities, adaptive measures ensured the program's success and highlighted the importance of community collaboration. The initiative not only revitalized religious engagement among youth but also strengthened community bonds and intergenerational cooperation. The program's sustainability is expected to be achieved through continuous community involvement and the institutionalization of regular training. This model offers a replicable framework for other communities seeking to preserve religious leadership and nurture future generations, reinforcing the value of grassroots initiatives in sustaining local religious and social development
