Abstract

The learning system that suddenly changes becomes a learning problem students experienced. The current research will reveal whether the application of group counseling during the Covid-19 pandemic can change students’ insight about the learning system and process. The research subjects are students of the VII grade and the VIII grade in a junior high school in Barru city. To determine the number of the sample, the researcher used purposive sampling technique with certain consideration, namely 15 students whose negative perception about the learning system during the Covid-19 pandemic condition. To collect data, researchers applied observation technique, distributed questionnaire, and took documents. The results of the current study indicate that after being given group guidance during several meetings, from those 15 students, 10 students (66.66%) strongly agree with the learning system applied in this Covid-19 pandemic condition, 5 students (33.33%) agree, there are no students who disagree and strongly disagree.

Abstract

The current research examined the e-learning process conducted in five senior high schools at Al-Hawiyah District, Ta’if. It aims at examining the application of Google Drive instructional media in language learning. This research takes advantage of fast technological developments and information, namely the internet system in the field of e-learning based education. There are many teaching strategies or methods to improve the quality of learning and teaching better. The Google Drive instructional media is one of the e-learning based education media that can be used to make teaching-learning process better. This researcher involved 25 students randomly chosen from those five different schools as the sample. The researcher interviewed five of them to investigate the use of the Google Doc, a Google application related to text editing similar to MS Word. From the result of the data analysis, that learning media is effectively used to achieve the e-learning based education.

Abstract

The aims of the current research are to describe (1) the improvement of students’ writing persuasive paragraph skill; (2) the improvement of students’ learning attitudes after taking persuasive paragraph writing lessons with the Think Pair Share model and educational videos; (3) the increase of students’ learning motivation after taking persuasive paragraph writing lessons with the Think Pair Share model and educational videos. This is a quantitative and qualitative research, with the number of participants are 30 students from high school in Kairouan city. The instruments used to collect data were observation, questionnaires, interviews, and documentation. Based on the results of research that had been done, it was known that students’ skills in writing persuasive paragraphs had increased. It was known from the results of writing persuasive paragraphs in each cycle. In the pre-cycle, the average score of the students was 43.5. In the 1st cycle, the average score of students increased to 61.17. In the 2nd cycle, students got an average score of 64.83. In the 3rd cycle, the average score of students were 78.00. This proves that the results of writing persuasive paragraphs of students have increased in cycle I, cycle II, and cycle III.

Abstract

The present research is conducted in an elementary school in Tan Shan city, Hong Kong, at the academic year of 2020-2021, on 40 students consisting of 16 boys and 24 girls. The research result shows that the application of the picture and picture cooperative learning model can improve the speaking skill of elementary school students. This is indicated by the increasing of students’ speaking skill score. In the first cycle, the average score was 62.2, students who did not complete were 62.5%, and those who completed 37.5% (in the low category). In cycle II, the average score was 80.8, 12.5% ​​were incomplete and 87.5% were completed. This proves an increase. Likewise, students’ attendance, students’ activity in listening to the teacher’s explanation, students’ activity in asking questions to the teacher, students’ activity in answering teacher questions, students’ activity in commenting on the content of the picture, and students’ activity in concluding subject matter, increased in the cycle II. Based on the results of the analysis above, the conclusion is that students’ speaking skill increases through the application of the picture and picture cooperative learning model.

Abstract

The present research is a classroom action carried out with procedures starting from planning, action, observation, and reflection. The aim of the study is to obtain a concrete description of the use of game technique in improving students’ reading comprehension skill and the change of students’ behavior during and after learning activities. This research was conducted at SD Islamiyah Medan, involving 35 students as participants. The data was analyzed in three stages, namely: (1) reducing data, (2) presenting data, dan (3) Drawing the conclusion or verifying data. Pre-test and post-test in cycle I showed a very significant increase in reading interest in what was carried out on students with the average score of students. Based on this finding, the playing technique can be used as an alternative by teachers in learning because it is proven that this technique can improve reading comprehension skills which are marked by changes in student behavior.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to find out how to apply the cooperative learning model, mind mapping type to improve the learning outcomes of elementary school students. This type of research is classroom action research which consists of two cycles which each cycle is carried out 3 times. The research procedure includes planning, implementing actions, observing and reflecting. The subjects in this study were 26 fourth grade students at SD Inpres Batanghari Jambi. The research result showed that in the first cycle, from 26 students, only 14 students completed individually, with an average score of 67.30. This has met the minimum completeness criteria or is in the moderate category, but this result does not meet the classical completeness criteria because only 53.85% of students have studied thoroughly, while the classical completeness that must be achieved is 85% of the total number of students. In cycle II, from 26 students, there were 24 students (92.31%) who met the minimum completeness criteria. Classically, it has also been fulfilled, namely the average value obtained is 80.19 or is in the high category. Based on the results of the analysis, it was concluded that the learning outcomes of fourth grade elementary school students through the application of the Mind Mapping cooperative learning model had increased.

Abstract

Language politeness really needs to be shown and maintained in society because it is a characteristic of the human in all nations. Language politeness needs to be applied in all aspects of life. One of the important places to apply language politeness is in teaching and learning activities in schools. This research was conducted in a junior high school in Lahore city. Participants were 30 students of the VIII grade who were involved in learning activities with a teacher. The researchers found that in learning activities, all positive elements are very important to be applied. This is important because teaching and learning activities are the spearhead in instilling positive values ​​from teachers to students, students to teachers, and students to students. For this reason, teaching and learning activities or processes should be able to run with full politeness which is manifested through the language used. Language politeness in teaching and learning activities will have a positive impact on students’ views of teachers, teachers to students, and students to students.

Abstract

The present study aimed at describing the satisfaction level of the university students in online learning at STKIP Muhammadiyah Barru during the Covid-19 pandemic situation. The research participants were 30 students of the Guidance and Counseling study program in the first semester on the academic year of 2021/2022. To collect data, researchers distributed questionnaire items to participants via Google forms, then analyzed the data qualitatively. The result of students’ responses to the questionnaire showed that in overall, 14 students (46.7%) of Guidance and Counseling Study Program at STKIP Muhammadiyah Barru were satisfied with the implementation of online learning organized by the campus, 10 other students (33.3%) stated that they were very satisfied, although there were also a small number namely 6 students (20%) expressed dissatisfaction. The satisfaction of the majority of students were found in the lecturers’ role factor as a facilitator, and the good communication interaction factor to lecturers and to classmates. Students’ dissatisfaction was generally found in the learning effectiveness factor, where students stated that they were bored with the independent assignments given by lecturers via online.

Abstract

The current study is a classroom action research with the objective of analyzing the improvement of students’ intensive reading ability using Survey-Question-Read-Review-Recite-Reflect (SQ4R) method. This research was conducted at Ryulgok Secondary School, Pyongyang, by involving 32 the 3rd grade students as the research participants. Data collection techniques were interviews, observation, documentation, and tests. The data analysis method used in this study was divided into qualitative data analysis and quantitative data analysis. The results of the first cycle of the research showed that 58.4% of students were active, it meant that it was still less than the target 75% of the results of intensive reading, because only 53% of students achieved a score of 70 and above for reading ability. In the second cycle, it shows that 85% of students actively participated in learning and the percentage of students was 87% of the target 75% of students got a score of 70 and above for reading ability. This indicated that there was an increase in learning outcomes (reading ability) as a result of an increase in the learning process after using the SQ4R method.

Abstract

The current research investigates how professional language teachers’ educational services improve the retention ability for high school students. The population in this study are 635 students of Al Manara School, located at city of Sirte, with 65 students as the sample taken with proportional random sampling technique, and involved two language teachers from the same school, an English teacher and an Arabic teacher. To collect research data, researchers used questionnaire and interview. The data was analyzed using a simple regression formula. The data with a simple regression model with a significance level of the regression was matched with the significance test rules. The result of data analysis indicates that the competence of professional language teachers in educating has a significant effect on increasing students’ memory toward lessons. In addition, the researchers found that there are three pillars of educational services applied by language teachers in educating students. Therefore, it can be concluded that if the professional language teacher education services in educating are improved, there will be an increase in students’ retention ability toward lesson materials.
