Abstract

This paper analyses budget allocation and poverty alleviation strategy in Aceh’s post conflict and tsunami. It is aimed (1) to identify conditions and the cause of poverty in Aceh, (2) to analyze poverty alleviation budget and programs in Aceh and (3) to find a suitable poverty alleviation strategy in post conflict and tsunami in Aceh.  The study was conducted in 2015-2016 using budget data of 2013 and 2014 collected from 7 districts in Aceh, 3 districts representing the west coast, 3 other representing the east coast, and 1 in the capital city of Banda Aceh. Meanwhile, the survey was conducted through in-depth interview technique reinforced by FGD in six districts i.e. Bener Meriah, Gayo Lues, Pidie Jaya, North Aceh, Aceh Barat, and Simeulue. The results show that Aceh’s poverty budget allocation is irrelevance and inconsistent. This is allegedly due to the limited capacity and commitment of decision makers to poverty alleviation. Poverty in Aceh is caused by natural, structural and cultural problems. The budget allocations for poverty alleviation programs are not well managed and unstructured and thus tend to be less effective in reducing poverty in Aceh. It is recommended that poverty alleviation strategies in Aceh should optimize the development of rural sectors such as agriculture, livestock, fisheries, poultry, dairy, and handicrafts, by stimulating the involvement and coordination of wider stakeholders.

However, not many researchers focused on the aspects of feedback from the lecturers in improving students’ speaking performance. Therefore, this paper aimed at investigation students’ perception towards lecturers’ oral corrective feedback in speaking classes. This survey involved 100 students of English Language Education Department, Ar-Raniry State Islamic University (UIN Ar-Raniry) Banda Aceh from 254 students. The participants of the survey were selected using simple random sampling technique to represent all off the population.  A modified questionnaire from Calsiyao (2015, p. 397) and Elsaghayer (2014, p. 77) was used to collect the data. The percentage was employed to analyze the data collected from questionnaire. The results showed that the students perceived lecturers’ oral corrective feedback as an important part of language learning. Lecturers’ oral corrective feedback was very helpful in improving the students’ speaking ability.  It can be concluded that the oral corrective feedback gave positive size towards students’ speaking performance. Therefore, this research is significant to be conducted to highlight the students’ perception towards oral corrective feedback from their lecturers during the teaching and learning speaking in the class. Abstract

The purpose of this research is to examine the effect of integrating CiDOS on teaching architectural design process for Malaysian polytechnic architectural students in producing a creative product. The web based information is set up based on Caroll’s minimal theory, while the integration is based on Brown and Campione’s technology of learning theory. This study utilized a quasi-experimental method. Final semester students from two (2) classes being used as research samples where sixty (25) students are in the treatment group and another sixty (25) students are in the control group. The final products being evaluated by the experts in architectural field using an instrument based on Creative Product Analysis Model (CPAM). The inferential statistics namely T-Test and Pearson Correlation Analysis with a significant level p = 0.01 were utilized. Research outcome shows that there is a significant difference between the treatment group product (M=79.1) and control group product (M=70.5).  This research contributes to the use of real case in the development of an architectural website, in the use of mobile technology as media information sources and in the construction of validated instrument which is used to evaluate creative architectural products. Keywords: Web Mobile, Design Process, Creative Product, CPAM

Abstract

The objective of this study is to find out the effect of contextual inquiry learning model on student science process skills in food microbiology. A quasi experiment research with pretest-posttest control group design was used in this study. The population of this was 6th semester student biology department and two classes chosen as the sample by applying cluster random sampling technique. Experiment class was using contextual inquiry model as much as 42 students while control class was using direct learning model much as 40 students. The instrument used to obtain the data of student science process skill is with essay test. Technical analysis of data using Covariate Analysis at significant level α = 0.05 with the help of SPSS 22. The results showed that there was a significant contextual inquiry learning model to the students' science process skill (F = 22.760; P = 0.000). The students' science process skills that were taught by contextual inquiry (87.72 ± 5.129) were significantly higher than the direct learning model. As a follow up of the results of this study, it is expected to apply contextual inquiry model on food microbiology material in an effort to improve the skill of science process.
