Abstract

Design is a complex and open process.  A designer starts the idea from an abstract form to a final idea in the form of a product to solve the design problem.   At the early design stage discussion occurs regularly between students and lecturer to improve the design quality.  The selection of a proper media for presentation is important in the design process to make sure the media selected has strong visual impact.  CAD technology gives opportunity for students to use three dimensional digital models in the design process to develop good design concept. The digital model can decrease the aspect of abstraction on a design idea.  The main objective of this study is to compare the development in the design activities between students that use digital studio and students that use conventional studio. The study had been done for four years on diploma architectural students at Port Dickson Polytechnic. All the semester six students had been selected as the sample for this study. The quasi experimental method was used to study the effect of integrating digital studio in the design process.  The research outcome showed that significant difference between digital model product (M=80.2) compared to conventional product from the aspect of creativity, t(238) = 9.198 significant.  This study shows that integration of digital studio in the learning process of design modules in polytechnic provides learning environment that ignites students to produce creative architectural design product. Keywords: CPAM, CAD Technology, Design Process, Creative Product

It can also be punished criminally only if there is one party who feels aggrieved as a rape victim. Ngampangmust be completed and decided by the village team assisted by the head of the hamlet as a member. This study is a normative juridical study, using secondary data in the form of legislation related to ngampang(adultery), type of adatngampangsanctions, custom sanction settlement procedures, documents and writings. Data analysis method used is descriptive qualitative, poured in the form of logical and systematic description. Keywords:customary sanction, ngampang, Dayak Kebahan.

Abstract

The objective of this study was to find out the effect of mini research application on contextual learning based for students’ attitude at microbiology subject in State University of Medan. A quasi experimental research with pretest-posttest control group design was used in this study. The population of this study was 6th semester students of biology department and 2 classes chosen as the sample by applying cluster random sampling technique. Experimental class was using mini research application on contextual learning based while control class was using direct learning. The instrument used to obtain the data of students’ attitude was description questionnaire. The data were analysed by using Mann-Whitney U-Test with used Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS) 22. The score of attitude were significantly from two classes, that U =78.64, n1 = 35, n2 = 34, p = 0.05, and z = 6.327 1.96 means the null hypothesis was rejected, suggesting that there is an effect of mini research application on contextual learning based for students’ attitude. Therefore, it can be stated that mini research application on contextual learning based as a more effective for students’ attitude in State University of Medan

Abstract

PDAM Tirtanadi is one of the local government enterprise that provider drinking water service to the public. The services provided under the PPOB system still disrupt the network technology system and there is a decrease in income, so as not to reach the level of customer satisfaction of PDAM Tirtanadi Medan Sunggal Branch. The purpose of this research is to test and analyze the influence of PPOB system on customer satisfaction at PDAM Tirtanadi Medan Sunggal Branch. The type of this research is descriptive quantitative and the nature of research using descriptive explanatory. This research uses accidental sampling method. The population in this study as many as 3030 customers and samples used 97 customers in PDAM Tirtanadi Medan Branch Sunggal. Data analysis using simple linear regression analysis. The results showed that the PPOB system has a positive and significant influence on customer satisfaction. This shows that the better PPOB system provided by PDAM Tirtanadi Medan Sunggal Branch will increase customer satisfaction.

Abstract

This study examines the impact of abnormal return towards dividend changes with private information as a moderating in Indonesia. The variables used in this study are abnormal return, private information, and dividend changes. Analysis model in this study is Moderated Regression Analysis (MRA). By using purposive sampling technique, there are 27 stocks as a research sample in Indonesia Stock Exchange 2013-2016. The result of this research shows that abnormal return has positive and significant impact towards dividend change. In other hand, private information in stock price has a negative and significant impact towards dividend change. The interaction analysis result shows that private information weakens the impact of abnormal return towards dividend changes. This study highlights private information in stock prices as an important determinant of dividend policy.

Abstract

The decline in English language proficiency among students entering public universities isstill debatable. English may be taught from standard one through form five and form six ormatriculation level but the students’ proficiency is still very low.  Looking at in microcosm, the majority of Malaysian students leave the school system with a poor grasp of Englishdespite having been exposed to the language for eleven or more years. Although both the‘intrinsic and extrinsic motivations’ have been given, these motivations have beenunsuccessful in reaching the greater majority. Employers especially from the private sectorhave voiced their concern on the low proficiency of these graduates. And the repercussion isemployers will look elsewhere for skilled workers instead of employing public institutions’graduates. Taking the cue from here, this research paper will focus on the abilities andknowledge of adult learners who are doing distance education programmes with the UniversitiSains Malaysia. These students are working either in the public or private sector. Findings ofthis research will provide information for curriculum developers at public institutions ofhigher learning to tailor their English courses towards meeting the students’ needs.

Abstract

The appearance of regional autonomy policy and decentralization in education aims to provide opportunities to educational participants to obtain skills, knowledge, and attitude which are useful to society. Madrasah could respond to to sudden change in curriculum as it does not exactly follow the national curriculum. As an educational institution born out of societal needs, madrasah integration in society is easier, as the society participates more in madrasah operation. The involvement of society is not only limited based to parents involvement, but also the wider societal involvement. As in accordance with the spirit of decentralization which takes in aspiration and participation of society, the involvement of society at large is needed to develop and improve madrasah educational quality. Keywords: Autonomy, education, Islamic

Abstract

Land is one component of human rights. However the real guarantee of the protection of land rights does not yet have a specific space in many international arenas, however the absence of discourse references does not cover the protection spaces that can still be found in many international human rights legal instruments. The formulation of the issues that will be discussed further in this paper as follows: How to Guarantee Protection of Land Rights in Indonesia from Human Rights Perspective. The purpose of writing is to build a strong discourse among civil society that can then be used as a reference by academics and government apparatus in encouraging the space of guarantee of the protection of land rights. In collecting accurate data and information, the authors used two data collection techniques, namely: literature study and limited group discussion. The conclusion of this paper is that transforming land rights to domestic legal relations is also a progressive action that must be done by state managers, as also described in the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights (1966). Efforts to progressive realization of land rights should be done consistently by the Government of Indonesia. Keywords:protection guarantee, land rights, social justice.

Abstract

This paper tries to apply a kind of criticism; that is, deconstruction. In this paper, the kind of criticism is applied to the play entitled The Tempest by William Shakespeare. Deconstruction is a term coined by the contemporary French philosopher Jacques Derrida and it has been used primarily to designate the mode of literary criticism practice since the publication of Derrida’s seminal work in the late 1960’s, by proving more forth coming with negative rather than positive analyses of the school. This criticism tries to examine binary opposition by showing the negative side of the play which implicitly symbolizes the author. Thus, this study also tries to present the negative side in The Tempest, and this negative side refers to uncivilization in this play. There are some civilized but nasty characters that show harshness especially in speech. Although some come from so-called civilized people as they are from high class-society. They often tend to establish impolite ways of speaking, like mocking others, rudeness, insensitivity, and impolite utterances. These forms of harshness in speech actually symbolize uncivilized side. That is why such harshness in speech in William Shakespeare’s play The Tempest becomes the concern of this study. In addition, it seems that such forms of harshness and impolite utterances can be found in the play and those symbolize uncivilization aspect in the play. Keywords:deconstruction, harshness, uncivilized, binary opposition.
