Abstract

As a raw material of the fickle product, black soy has the constraint to appearantance of the product which is not appropriate with consumers appetite. As the result, products diversification from the raw material of black soy is very finite, cultivations result is less be accepted by market because of the lowering demand and the debility of cultivation will emergen finally. This research is intended to determine the eligibility of soyas making from black soy as a raw material evaluated from soyas quality from the time of fermentation and also this variety. The result of this research indicates that the time of fermentation for 4 weeks (30 days) and from UGM organic black soy variety yields the soyas quality with the highest value seen from nature of color, smell/aroma and sweets taste (very taken a fancy to / sweetest), and also mount the viscosity at second level. The researchs result of soyas making from black soy as a raw material show that the technical eligibility (raw material, process, product), quality eligibility (process) and financial eligibility (Benefit/Cost Ratio and rentability of bank price).

But under this hypothetical situation of improved condition, the tendency of the farmer to leave farm activity under certain condition will go up in line with the increasing of land price and the experience length of the farmer in farm activity. Therefore, the land price and experience duration in farm activity are the important factor in determining farmer readiness to leave farm activity.

Abstract

Research was conducted to study the effect of blanching on drying rate, and the free fatty acid content of copra. Blanching of copra was performed before drying. The moisture contents of copra determined before and during drying; while free fatty acids were only determined after drying. The experimental design used in the experiment was Completely Randomized Design, which consists of two factor namely the blanching periods i.e. 0; 5; 10 and 15 minutes, and the blanching methods i.e. steam blanching at atmospheric pressure and dipping in boiling water. The result shows that the blanching treatment increases the drying rate, and reduces the free fatty acid contents. Blanching time affect both water evaporation rate and free fatty acid contents, however dipping in boiling water for 15 minutes inhibit water evaporation. Steam blanching treatment at atmospheric pressure for 15 minutes on the raw materials, produces the best copra, which has the greatest drying rate and the least free fatry acid as well.

Abstract

This study was aimed at investigating the effect of various maize density on the growth and yield of lettuce in a multiple cropping system. The study was carried out on February through to April 2004 at the Experimental Farm, Agricultural Faculty (University of Jambi, Mendalo Darat Campus, located at approximately 35 m above sea level and Ultisol soil group. The culture technique followed the routine organic farming system with no use of inorganic fertilizers nor pesticides. Manure of chicken waste was used as a base fertilizer at the rate of 20 ton ha''. Lettuce cv. Grand Rapid were planted at 70 x 25 density in the between of the rows of maize cv. Arjuna that were planted at 70 x 80 cm, 70 x 60 cm, 70 x 40 cm and 70 x 20 cm density. One treatment with no maize was used ss the control. The results indicated that maize planting at density of 70 x 60 cm produce the best growth and yield performance on lettuce as well as maize itself, Though the monoculture system (with no maize) or multiple cropping at 70 x 80 cm density produced higher lettuce fresh weight than those planted at 70 x 60 density, the difference was not significant. Maize density of wider or narrower than 70 x 60 cm were liable to produce lower yield, in the form of stalk number.

Descriptive study has some goals that include description on situation or events or describe relationship among phenomenon, hypothetic examination, prediction making and also describe the implication from a problem that will be solved. Qualitative method has been done through 3 stages namely data reduction, data presentation and creating of conclusion. In Yogyakarta, 89ok of local food storages were included into simple local food storages.
