Abstract

This article examines the impact of Islamic civilization on cultural shifts in the land of Bugis, South Sulawesi, Indonesia. Through historical and anthropological analysis, this research reveals how the entry of Islam in the 17th century significantly changed the cultural, social, and political landscape of the Bugis people. This study examines the transformation in the belief system, social structure, customary practices, and collective identity of the Bugis people as a result of interaction with Islamic civilization. The findings show that despite substantial changes, the Bugis people have managed to retain key elements of their cultural heritage, creating a unique synthesis between local traditions and Islamic values.

Abstract

This study evaluates the "Exploring Curious Minds" learning strategy in Islamic Religious Education (PAI) at SMP Negeri 3 Palakka. Using qualitative methods, it assesses the strategy's effectiveness in promoting active learning and identifies supporting and inhibiting factors. The strategy involves encouraging student responses, accommodating answers, and using questions to connect with lesson material. However, student participation remained low, with limited question-asking and opinion-sharing. Supporting factors include teacher involvement, adequate facilities, and student interest. Inhibiting factors comprise teachers often skipping the question composition step, lack of student interest, fear of expressing opinions, and environmental disturbances.While the strategy shows potential, its implementation faced challenges in achieving desired student engagement levels. The study highlights the need to address both teacher and student-related factors to enhance its effectiveness. Data collection involved observation, interviews, and documentation, with analysis including data reduction, presentation, conclusion drawing, and verification. The research employed an Islamic education approach to examine the strategy's impact on active learning in PAI subjects. The findings underscore the importance of overcoming implementation barriers to fully realize the strategy's potential in fostering active learning in Islamic religious education at the school.

Abstract

Implementing school-based management (SBM) is an approach to secondary school control that allows schools to autonomously make decisions regarding the planning, implementation and evaluation of academic instruction. In SBM, the principal and all members of the college play an active role in managing assets, developing curriculum and improving the quality of first-grade classes as well as the overall performance of the college. The main goal of comprehensive control at the college level (SBM) is to improve the quality of training uniformly in schools. In order for university management to be applied effectively and efficiently, the important role of the professor as the leader of the college is necessary. It is hoped that the department chair can fulfill his leadership role so that full faculty-based management can be implemented to improve the best quality of education in the school.

Abstract

School leaders play an important role in creating an inclusive learning environment where all students, regardless of background or ability, can learn effectively and feel welcome. The aim of this research is to analyze strategies and practice school leadership in building an inclusive learning environment. A qualitative approach and case study design will be used. Data collection techniques will also be used through in-depth interviews with school principals, teachers and administrators, participant observation of the learning process and classroom interactions, as well as collection documentation regarding inclusive policies and practices. The data obtained was analyzed using thematic analysis techniques, including data transcription, coding, theme development, and interpretation to determine the school's efforts to create an inclusive learning environment, the challenges faced, and the solutions implemented.

Abstract

Classroom management techniques are fundamental in creating an effective learning environmentand enhancing student engagement. This paper examines the role of classroom management inpromoting active learning among students. The study employed a qualitative research approach tocollect data through questionnaires, teacher and student interviews, and classroom observations.The results indicate that effective classroom management significantly boosts student participationand engagement. The study discusses various strategies, including physical classroom arrangement,time management, motivational strategies, positive reinforcement, and handling disruptions.Recommendations for educators to improve their classroom management skills and further researchdirections are provided.

Abstract

This research intends to explore the link between mental well-being and learning. By reviewing existing literature, this research will pinpoint mental health issues that influence the learning experience, along with actions that can be taken to enhance students' mental wellness and consequently boost academic success. The findings of the review indicate that mental well-being has a major impact on the learning experience. Mental health challenges like anxiety and depression can obstruct students' focus, drive, and academic success. On the other hand, positive mental health can enhance students' ability to learn and reach their goals. This research concludes that there is a need for more dedicated efforts to support students' mental well-being, at the school, family, and community levels.

Abstract

This study examines the implementation of Bugis local wisdom leadership values in the context of school-based management (SBM) in Bone Regency, South Sulawesi. The local wisdom of Bugis which is reflected in the concept of "pappaseng" and leadership values such as "lempu" (honesty), "acca" (intelligence), "sitinaja" (propriety), "getteng" (constancy), and "reso" (hard work) are the focus of this research. Through a qualitative approach with a case study method, this study reveals how these values are integrated in school leadership practices and their influence on the effectiveness of SBM implementation. The results of the study show that the application of Bugis local wisdom values in school leadership contributes positively to more effective school management, increased community participation, and strengthening the character of students.

Abstract

This study examines the role of parental involvement in improving early childhood education achievement. The purpose of this study is to analyze the forms of parental involvement, its impact on children's achievement, and identify the factors that affect the effectiveness of these involvements. The research was conducted with a qualitative approach through systematic literature studies and in-depth interviews with parents, educators, and early childhood education experts. The results showed that active parental involvement had a positive correlation with an increase in early childhood academic and non-academic achievement. Effective forms of involvement include home-based tutoring, regular communication with teachers, and participation in school activities. This study provides practical recommendations for parents and educational institutions to optimize collaboration in supporting child development.

Abstract

Education management requires managerial skills so that educational governance can be optimized to achieve national education goals. School principals as managers need to have good managerial skills, because this really determines the smoothness of the teaching and learning process. The results of the research show that: (1) the management role of the principal at SD Inpres 12/79 Abbumpungeng has so far been carried out well. This can be seen from the school principal's ability to set educational goals, detail learning activities, provide effective direction to teachers, and carry out systematic monitoring of the teaching and learning process, (2) An inclusive learning culture for teachers and students at SD Inpres 12/79 Abbumpungeng has been implemented quite well through a learning culture that has encouraged students to learn independently, increased active involvement in the learning process, and created positive collaboration between regular students and inclusive students, and (3) the management of the principal at SD Inpres 12/79 Abbumpungeng plays an important role in developing an inclusive learning culture to ensure that all students, both regular and special needs, receive the attention and support they need.

Abstract

This article examines the innovation of integrating School-Based Management (SBM) with local culture as a strategy to strengthen Islamic educational institutions in Bone Regency. This study aims to analyze how the values of Bone's local wisdom, such as the principles of "siri' na pacce" (self-esteem and solidarity), "mappatabe" (manners), and the "pangngadereng" (customary governance) system, can be adapted within the framework of MBS to create a contextual and sustainable education management model. The research method uses a qualitative approach with case studies in three selected madrasas and pesantren, through in-depth interviews, participatory observations, and document analysis. The findings of the study show that the integration of MBS-local culture not only increases community participation in educational decision-making, but also strengthens Islamic identity that is in harmony with local wisdom. This innovation is reflected in the culture-based curriculum, strengthening the role of indigenous leaders in school committees, and the implementation of an evaluation system that combines national standards and local values. This article offers a new perspective in Islamic education management by emphasizing the importance of glocalization (global-local) in facing the challenges of modernization, while recommending a collaborative model between governments, educational institutions, and indigenous stakeholders to achieve a holistic educational transformation. These findings make a theoretical contribution to the development of culture-based education management as well as practical implications for the strengthening of Islamic educational institutions in areas with similar socio-cultural characteristics.
