Abstract

Raw water intake is the first step in the clean water supply system for households, industry, and agriculture. With sufficient and quality water supply, the risk of diseases caused by dirty water such as diarrhea and cholera can be reduced, and it can be a solution in dealing with water crises due to climate change or drought. The purpose of this study was to determine the quality of raw water for parameters of temperature, total dissolved solids, total suspended solids, pH, BOD, COD, dissolved oxygen, phosphate, nitrate, ammonia, oil and fat, and total coliform. The research method used was by sampling and testing water quality. The results of the study showed that the water quality for the temperature parameters was 30oC, total dissolved solids were 72 mg/L, total suspended solids were 28 mg/L, pH was 7.8, BOD was 2.0 mg/L, COD was 6.5 mg/L, dissolved oxygen was 4.6 mg/L, phosphate was 0.03 mg/L, nitrate was 0.08 mg/L, ammonia was 0.026 mg/L, oil and fat were <0.6, and total coliform was 320 MPN/100 mL. The results of the analysis showed that the quality of raw water met the water quality stipulated in Appendix VI (National Water Quality Standards) of Government Regulation No. 22 of 2021 concerning the Implementation of Environmental Protection and Management, this means that the raw water is still in good condition and is suitable for processing into drinking water or other needs without heavy treatment. Keywords: raw water, water quality, water quality standards

increase while the supply is getting smaller so that it needs a partial substitute alternative to concrete mixtures to overcome the limitations of using natural materials. The purpose of this study is to find out how much influence the compressive strength results from the substitution of fine aggregate with sediment from the Bili Bili Dam. The method used in this study is an experimental method that refers to the SNI 7656-2012 testing standard. The variation in the sediment percentage in this study was 0%, 2.5%, 5%, 7.5% and 10% of the weight of the fine aggregate used. The concrete quality planned in this study is 14.53MPa and uses cylindrical samples measuring Ø15cm and 30cm high, as well as cubes with a width of 15cm and a height of 15cm. Based on the results of the study, the compressive strength value for the use of sediment as a substitute for some fine aggregate successively reduced the compressive strength of concrete during the age of 3, 7, 14, 28 days from the planned concrete quality to be reduced by 3.8%, 13.67%, 22.10%, 34.44% and 48.72%, the cause of reduction by the high mud content in the sediment.

Abstract

Intersections are a very crucial part of the highway because most of the efficiency, safety, speed, operational costs and traffic capacity depend on the intersection planning. Good intersection planning results in smooth traffic. This study aims to determine the queue length at the intersection of Andi Mangerangi Street and Andi Mappodang Street in Makassar, as well as to analyze the queue length at this intersection. The research models two alternative engineering solutions by altering the geometric conditions of the intersection and adding traffic signs. The software used to assist in the study is PTV Vissim 2024 and Measure Distance, which helps measure the queue length that occurs. The results of the study from the two planning models show that the initial planning model, with the existing geometric conditions, resulted in the following queue lengths: Andi Mangerangi Street (West) had a queue length of 228m, Andi Mangerangi Street (East) had 119m, Andi Mappaodang Street (North) had 166m, and Andi Mappaodang Street (South) had 196m. After conducting several trials, it was concluded that the chosen alternative is alternative 2, which involves changing the geometric conditions of the road and adding traffic signs. This alternative resulted in the following queue lengths: Andi Mangerangi Street (West) had 182m, Andi Mangerangi Street (East) had 98m, Andi Mappaodang Street (North) had 105m, and Andi Mappaodang Street (South) had 163m.

Abstract

Abstract

Lakapera is one of the villages in Gu District, Central Buton Regency, Southeast Sulawesi. The people of Lakapera Village, Southeast Sulawesi Province, often use aggregates from the sea and mountains found in the village. This is due to the absence of a river in Lakapera Village which results in the use of sea sand aggregate and crafted stone of mountain stones as building materials. The purpose of this research is to provide information about the condition of aggregate characteristics from Lakapera Village that can be used as a mixture material in making concrete and to obtain how strong it is produced. The test piece process was made by replacing part of the local aggregate using sea sand and crushed stone from Mount Lakapera Village with a mixture percentage of 5%, 15%, and 30% on the 7, 14, 21, and 28 days of concrete age. Based on the result, the material characteristics of all aggregates are safe to use as concrete materials. The results showed that the compressive strength obtained decreased by a percentage of 2,20% of the test specimen (70:30%), from the initial compressive strength of 18,7MPa, in the 28 day concrete age test. The compressive strength of concrete using mixed materials 0%, 5%, 15%, and 30% at the 28-day age concrete was 19,50MPa with a percentage of 104,28% (Test specimen 100:0%), 18,75MPa or 100,29% (Test specimen 95:5%), 18,47MPa or 98,79% (Test specimen 85:15%), and compressive strength of 18,28MPa or 97,80% (Test specimen 70:30%) of the planned compressive strength.

Abstract

Traffic density at junctions without signal often causes congestion and lowers the performance of the transportation network. This research aims to design intersections so that the length of vehicle queues can be reduced. The case study was conducted at the intersection of Urip Sumoharjo Street, Gunung Bawakaraeng Street, Masjid Raya Street and Maccini Baru Street. This type of research is a case study using methods namely quantitative. The research was carried out with direct observation in the field to collect geometric data of intersections, traffic volume, and traffic speed. The results of the analysis show that the use of vissim software can help design the reduction of traffic density at intersections without signal. It was found that the high traffic density, especially at peak hours in the afternoon (using the gas station entrance) is Queue Counter 1 (Masjid Raya Street-Urip Sumoharjo Street) along as 167m and in Queue Counter 2 (Masjid Raya Street-Gunung Bawakaraeng Street) along as 262m. Research results show that changing the road type from 4/2 D to 6/2 D can reduce the length of the vehicle queue. By using the Queue Counter feature in Vissim Software, Queue Counter 1 (Masjid Raya Street-Urip Sumoharjo Street) is 108m and Queue Counter 2 (Jalan Masjid Raya-Jalan Gunung Bawakaraeng) is 182m. This solution can help analyse traffic density and improve the performance of the transportation network in the area.

Abstract

The selection of the appropriate type of scaffolding plays a crucial role in determining project cost efficiency, work safety, and completion time. This study aims to analyze and compare the cost and installation duration between frame scaffolding and ringlock scaffolding used in the pier head construction of the Makassar New Port Access Road Project Phase 1 and 2, in order to provide recommendations for similar future projects. The research employed a descriptive comparative method with a case study approach, collecting field data to analyze differences in total cost and installation duration between the two scaffolding systems. The results show that ringlock scaffolding offers advantages in terms of installation ease and flexibility in adapting to various structural forms. Although its rental cost is higher than frame scaffolding, it provides greater efficiency by reducing installation time and labor costs. The monthly rental cost of ringlock scaffolding was Rp111,434,756.40 with an installation duration of 4.25 days, while frame scaffolding cost Rp63,508,060.00 with an installation duration of 9.40 days. The cost difference reached Rp47,926,696.40 (43%), and the installation duration difference was 5.15 days (54.79%). Therefore, ringlock scaffolding is considered more efficient for projects with tight schedules.

Abstract

The construction sequence analysis method is used to plan the order of construction and evaluate its effects on the structural performance of buildings. This study investigates the influence of transfer beams on deformation and internal forces in high-rise buildings by comparing the conventional method with the staged construction method. Structural modeling was carried out using ETABS software with load data and load combinations based on SNI 1727:2020 and response spectrum analysis based on SNI 1726:2019. The results show that the maximum deflection increased by 92% in buildings without transfer beams and by 169% in buildings with transfer beams. The maximum moment increased by 54% and 66%, respectively. The maximum normal force increased by 42% in both models, while the shear force increased by 50% in buildings without transfer beams and by 61% in buildings with transfer beams. Overall, buildings with transfer beams experience greater increases in deflection and internal forces compared to buildings without transfer beams.

Abstract

Rainfall is an essential factor in various sectors such as agriculture, water resource management, and hydrometeorological disaster mitigation. The unpredictable and nonlinear characteristics of rainfall patterns make conventional statistical methods less effective for accurate forecasting. This study aims to develop a rainfall prediction model using an Artificial Neural Network (ANN) with the Backpropagation method implemented in MATLAB, and analyze the model’s accuracy and performance based on historical rainfall data. The constructed network architecture consists of four input neurons, twelve hidden neurons, and one output neuron. The training results show that the monthly rainfall model performs more well. The findings indicate that the Backpropagation-based ANN model effectively predicts monthly rainfall and can be used as a decision-support tool for water resource planning and management in the Makassar–Maros region

Abstract

The growth of Makassar City as a center of economic and tourism activities has increased traffic intensity, particularly along the main corridor of Jalan Metro Tanjung Bunga and its surrounding areas. The rising vehicle volume and variations in traffic speed on this road have generated environmental impacts such as noise pollution, which affect the quality of life of nearby residents. This study aims to analyze the relationship between vehicle volume and traffic speed and their contribution to environmental impacts along Jalan Metro Tanjung Bunga. The research employs a quantitative descriptive approach using traffic counting surveys conducted on both weekdays and weekends, from 07:00 WITA to 21:00 WITA. Data collected include vehicle volume by type, average traffic speed, and environmental parameters such as noise levels. The data were analyzed descriptively to illustrate traffic and environmental conditions. The findings are expected to provide empirical insights into traffic flow patterns and pollution levels in the study area, highlighting the significant contribution of transportation activities to environmental impacts. These results are intended to serve as a foundation for policymakers and stakeholders in formulating sustainable transportation strategies that minimize negative environmental effects while supporting mobility in Makassar City.
