Abstract

Sugarcane is one of Indonesia's agricultural commodities which is quite large in production, sugarcane processing in Indonesia is usually used as sugar and flavoring, but sugar cane is also used by the community as a raw material for beverages, namely sugarcane ice. Sugarcane grinding machines or sugarcane squeezer machines are using for the process of separating sugarcane juice from sugarcane stem fiber, with the help of a sugarcane squeezer machine it will produce a lot of sugarcane juice, and only requires a short working time. The use of a sugar cane squeezer machine for producing sugar and making ice cane with a small-scale machine, so that it does not require space and a complicated process, this machine is very suitable for small and medium scale sugarcane processing industry. The purpose of this research is to design and manufacture a sugarcane squeezer machine using a combustion engine. The implementation method in the manufacture of this machine uses a propulsion system including combustion motors, pulleys, v-belts, gears, shafts, pegs, rollers and bearings. The results obtained from the design and manufacture of this sugarcane squeezer machine are that the energy and time that have been used are more efficient and the sugarcane processing is faster than manually. The design specifications of the tool are 0.5Hp engine capacity, 220 volt voltage and 2500 rpm rotation. Testing of the sugarcane juice machine is carried out to find out the results of the design can function according to the expected design

Abstract

A refrigerant is a functioning liquid that flows in the refrigeration cycle which causes a cooling effect on the refrigeration machine. This study aims to determine the impact of refrigerant suction pressure on the performance of car air conditioners. The refrigerant pressure in the refrigeration system can increase and decrease the performance of the A/C system. The test was carried out by varying the 3 refrigerant pressures, 10psi, 20psi, and 30psi on the Car AC trainer testing tool. Based on testing and data processing, the system efficiency performance at 10psi pressure is 81.26%, at 20psi pressure is 81.27% and at 30 psi pressure is 82.13% with actual COP of 6.98, 7.24, 7.36, and Carnot COP of 8.56 respectively. , 8.92, 8.95. Then the impact of changes due to pressure variations in the system on cabin temperature is 22.52℃, 23.01℃, and 23.45℃, respectively. Changes in refrigerant pressure in the car AC engine will affect system performance, where the more significant the suction pressure is given, the efficiency, and the COP value will increase as well as the compressor work and the cabin temperature will increase.

Abstract

The examination was directed utilizing 3D Printer FDM (Fused Deposition Modeling) Ender-3 Pro with different mixes of boundaries. Choice of boundaries for 3 kinds of boundaries (Layer level, infill example, and spout temperature), every boundary fluctuated by 3 varieties. The material utilized is ABS (Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene) material. The examination strategy utilizes the Taguchi technique. Plan of Experiment involving the Taguchi technique as an orthogonal matrix L9(34) with three replications. The resulting response is only surface roughness. Tests produce the ideal boundaries: layer height 0.1 mm, infill pattern is line pattern and nozzle temperature 240°C. The layer height parameter result a contribution percentage of 99,63%, infill pattern 0,04%, and nozzle temperature 0,15%.

Abstract

This research about how to modify a machine that peels onions. The method used is Reverse engineering. This machine was modified because there is a shortage, level of success onion-peeler machine is still low, with value 43.63%, safety level machine is not sufficient, and the diameter of peeler tube hole is too large, so it is not effective and efficient. Modification made for to improve the efficiency of peeling shallots. The modified part is the rubber and the diameter of the peeler hole. Tube-hole size changed from 16mm to 6mm. will use the Shaft On the stripper tube. The shaft works like a holder for a rubber peeler. There are 11 pieces of peeling rubber. The results of the study showed that the peeled onion was 755 grams after 20 minutes. The machine's actual capacity is 37.75 grams per minute, or 2.26 kg per hour. The machine's production efficiency is 75.5%.

Abstract

In the industrial world, leaf springs are an important component of vehicles. Therefore, material selection is very influential in producing good mechanical properties that can affect leaf spring performance. In this review article, the author aims to review and compile articles on relevant previous studies to compare the best alternative materials other than steel that meet the criteria for the application of leaf springs. The review method used in this article is to search for articles that are relevant to the keyword material, leaf springs, and mechanical properties. After that, the author will collect articles and choose articles that have the criteria to be reviewed. Then the articles that meet the criteria will be reviewed by extracting the data to the review table. As a result, 24 articles will be reviewed. Then the author will extract data on each article, namely material, tensile strength, and flexure. Flexural and tensile strength are used as quality criteria for each material. The conclusion of the review article obtained is that carbon/epoxy has the potential as an alternative steel material because carbon/epoxy has the highest tensile strength with a value of 1841MPa, and flexural strength with a value of 1646.7MPa is close to steel as shown in the review table. However, further research is needed, such as proper design and more efficient manufacturing methods to produce innovative leaf spring components with high quality and acceptable quality in the industry.

Abstract

The egrek must have a tough hardness in the eyes of the egrek, but the craftsman there is criticism by consumers regarding the quality of his sharpness and toughness, therefore. The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of carburizing cow bone charcoal on increasing the egrek hardness of blacksmith products in Tanjung Pinang Village. This research method is a pack carburizing experiment using cow bone charcoal with temperature variations of 850°C, 900 °C, and 950°C and a containment time of 30 minutes, 45 minutes, and 60 minutes. The results of this study prove that the composition of the egrek material of blacksmith products with an elemental carbon value of 0.414% and pack carburizing using cow bone charcoal affects the hardness, the top surface hardness value at a temperature variation of 950°C with a 60-minute containment time of 59.2 HRC. Temperature is very influential in carrying out pack carburizing against the increase in surface hardness.

Abstract

The condenser is one of the main components in the ice slush machine system that functions to removed heat from the system to the environment. In this system, the condenser is equipped with a fan whose rotation speed is modified using an inverter that aims to determine the system performance and condenser capacity at each fan rotation variation of the ice slush machine. There are 3 variations of frequency settings in this system 50 Hz, 40 Hz, and 30 Hz, with equivalent velocity air 3.6, 2.9, and 1.9 m/s respectively. In this study, the performance of the ice slush machine with various condenser fan speed settings was studied including, how long the product temperature is reached, condenser capacity, actual COP, efficiency, and electrical power. The test results show that the fastest product temperature is reached when using a fan speed setting of 1397 rpm, which is 145 minutes with a condenser capacity of 42.36 kW. The highest actual COP is obtained from the fan speed set at 1397 rpm of 2.58 with an efficiency of 57.5% and electrical power consumption of 269.64 W. The fan speed setting at 1090 rpm has a condenser capacity of 33.78 kW, COPactual of 2.46 with an efficiency of 56.2%, and electric power consumption of 272.09 W. The fan speed setting at 711 rpm has a condenser capacity of 21.73 kW, an actual CO of 2.15 with an efficiency of 49.2%, and electric power consumption of 312.71 W.
