Abstract

Climate change has increasingly influenced thermal dynamics in both outdoor and indoor environments, leading to elevated indoor temperatures that can significantly compromise occupant thermal comfort. This comfort is intrinsically linked to psychological well-being, sleep quality, and overall productivity. Indoor thermal conditions are governed by multiple parameters, including internal and external heat gains, building envelope characteristics, and the effectiveness of ventilation systems. In response, the deployment and optimization of mechanical ventilation systems have become essential strategies in architectural and HVAC design to ensure better indoor environmental quality (IEQ). Moreover, energy-efficient mechanical systems are critical for minimizing operational energy consumption and also for mitigating greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions associated with building operations. This study employs Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulations to analyze the influence of mechanical ventilation placement on indoor temperature distribution, with a specific focus on enclosures with solar-exposed walls. The findings aim to inform design strategies for ventilation layout optimization that enhance thermal comfort while supporting energy-efficient and sustainable building practices. The research findings indicate that the position of the exhaust fan plays a crucial factor in thermal comfort. When it’s placed near to the heat source, it provides higher airflow near to the heat source that helps maintain temperature stability and prevent the spread of heat throughout the room.

Abstract

Dropout occurs in higher education, where students are unable to complete their studies within a specified timeframe. It has become a significant concern in education due to its substantial impact on individuals, institutions, and society. This study aims to develop a model for predicting the early potential for students' dropout using the K-Means Algorithm and decision trees. The research method consists of a Dataset, Data Preprocessing, K-means implementation, labeling student data, and Decision Tree implementation. This study resulted in 4 clusters. The students in Cluster 1 have an excellent average GPA, a substantial number of credits, and are very active. The students in Cluster 2 have a lower average GPA and are less active than in Cluster 1. The students in Cluster 3 show a relatively good average GPA, which is lower than in Clusters 1 and 2. The number of active students indicates that students in this cluster are much less active or at risk of D.O. than those in clusters 1 and 2. Cluster 4 indicates that the average GPA of students is very low, often close to zero, and they are generally inactive in academic activities. Thus, they are significantly at risk of D.O. at Universitas Muhammadiyah Enrekang. This research provides significant results, both in terms of accuracy and data interpretation. The resulting insights enable universities to make more strategic and targeted decisions, thereby reducing the risk of university dropout rates, increasing resource efficiency, and supporting the overall educational success of students. The accuracy of the resulting model is 98.52% which indicates that the model has excellent performance in classifying students at risk of D.O.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine and analyze the effect of ESG performance (ESG), ROA, and whether financial flexibility as a moderating or mediating variable on Firm Value. The population in this study are energy and mineral companies listed on the IDX for the period 2018-2022. Purposive sampling method was used to determine the number of samples that met the criteria and resulted in 12 companies as samples in the study. The research data uses secondary data obtained from the company's annual financial report, sustainability report and Thomson Reuter (Refinitiv) report. This study uses several tests, namely classical assumption testing, panel data regression, sobel test and Moderated Regression Analysis (MRA) using Eviews 13 statistical tools. ESG, ROA and Financial Flexibility simultaneously affect firm value with Leverage as control variables. Financial flexibility and ROA do not mediate ESG on Firm Value. Financial flexibility moderates ESG on firm value, but ROA does not moderate on firm value. It is proven that financial flexibility is a moderating variable for the influence of ESG on firm value where the role of the moderating variable of financial flexibility strengthens the influence of ESG on firm value. There are two main findings in the study, namely the role of financial flexibility can strengthen the influence of ESG performance on firm value and the joint role of ESG, ROA and financial flexibility with leverage as a control variable can increase firm value.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to analyze the effect of our gradient infill on the mechanical behavior of polylactide acid (PLA) materials resulting from 3d printing, which has an impact on the efficiency of material use while still providing good mechanical support. In this study, the specimens were designed using nTopology software and there were 4 variations of the structure, namely square, honeycomb, diamond, and gyroid, each of which was made gradient and non-gradient, then a bending test was carried out to determine its mechanical behavior thats PLA materials. The results of this study indicate that a comparison between specimens with gradient and non-gradient models with 50% porosity can increase the deflection of the specimen, namely square 15.7-19.1 mm, honeycomb 16.3-20.6 mm, Diamond 19.7-21.8 mm, and gyroid 20.3-22.1 mm, with an average deflection of 2.04 mm. In addition, there is a linear correlation of the relationship between thickness to deflection and flexural modulus whereas the thickness value increases, the deflection and flexural modulus will increase. The conclusion of this research is that giving a gradient to the structure can improve mechanical behavior, especially deflection.
