Abstract

Early experiences with attachment figures significantly influence the development of emotional regulation, which plays a crucial role during the transition from childhood to adolescence—a period marked by rapid psychological and physiological changes. This research aimed to explore the relationship between attachment dimensions and the regulation of three types of emotions—anger, sadness, and fear- among children and early adolescents aged 10-16. A cross-sectional study design was employed. The sample consisted of 312 students (140 males and 172 females) from government and private schools in Islamabad, with a mean age of 13.8 years (SD=1.57). The "Experiences in Close Relationships" (ECR) instrument, in age-appropriate versions, was used to assess the attachment dimensions of both children and their mothers. The children's emotion regulation strategies were assessed using the "Emotion Regulation Inventory" (ERI). Both instruments were translated into Urdu following World Health Organization (WHO) guidelines for translation of interventions. The most endorsed emotion among the sample was anger, while the least endorsed emotion was sadness. Alpha reliabilities for the instruments ranged from 0.65 to 0.85. Regression analysis revealed that attachment anxiety was positively associated with anger suppression and fear dysregulation. Attachment avoidance was associated with anger dysregulation and fear suppression. No significant association was found for the emotion of sadness. The results highlight the complex dynamics between attachment dimensions and emotion regulation. Children with attachment anxiety tend to suppress anger and dysregulate fear, whereas those with attachment avoidance tend to dysregulate anger and suppress fear. The study underscores the importance of considering attachment styles in understanding emotion regulation strategies in children and adolescents, as these dynamics have significant implications for daily life interactions and psychological development

Abstract

This study examines a multidisciplinary approach of computational sociology, psychological study, communicational dimensions, and cultural studies led by the LGBTQ+ movement in Pakistan; this approach is investigated by Judith Butler's Queer theory. The theory is represented as a theoretical framework for analyzing the identity we have within us through the LGBTQ+ movement and the existing scenario in Pakistan. By using a socio-psychological context, qualitative research would be the lens through which to inspect various facets of LGBTQ+ activism accepted in Pakistan. Computational sociology and behavioral psychology are the methods used to represent satisfactory patterns and acceptable trends and enhance the structural network offline or through online speeches by activists. Text mining and sentimental analysis would be the technique, alongside network analysis of online communication of social media platforms, which would be used for identifying patterns, structural networks, and the trends adopted both online and offline. Simultaneously, the interpretation from cultural studies would shed light on how cultural norms represent LGBTQ+ people by traversing cultural identity through Butler's theory. The scenarios of remarking LGBTQ+ is a defined theory that elaborates that gender reality is performative: it is real only as well as performed, signified by socio-cultural studies influenced by psychological strategies. This research work emphasizes cultural awareness through socio-psychological aspects in Pakistan, examining conventional ideas and power politics about gender and identity, reagreeing LGBTQ+. The findings are amazing in that they have a great impact on the LGBTQ+ rights movements in Pakistan, with the implicated uses for advocacy as well as refined thoughts for theoretical contributions in academic discourse. Though the study provides clear findings, rather it is also important to register the limitations, such as the potential biases in self-reported data and the confined scope of social and behavioral adaptation in Pakistan. Future research should be expanded by advanced computational techniques to incorporate the development of intersectional approaches to LGBTQ+.

Abstract

Over the past few decades, social media has developed a ubiquitous part of our global world mainly used for commerce, networking, and entertainment. However, over the last few years, there has been a rise in the use of social media in party-political debate and actions, especially in developed democracies and post-militarized countries. Is this to suggest that social media will have an effect on democratic transformation and consolidation in the twenty-first century? This paper aims to address this question by exploring the usage of social media as a potential democratic consolidation instrument in Pakistan, Nigeria, and Brazil. There is no denying that digital technologies and social media networks have dramatically improved human contact in the twenty-first century. Because of the partaking, collaborating, and moneymaking attributes of social media, they have become veritable tools for the strengthening of self governing principles and processes in terms of knowledge exchange, election tracking, and assessment, reduction of tensions and anxieties related to votes, and maintaining and even implementing transparency and answerability to a wide swath of the population. The paper, on the other hand, acknowledges that while social media has its own set of issues, such as the potential for violence and despoliation, these can be effectively mitigated, if not entirely eliminated, through adequate monitoring and regulatory controls deprived of jeopardizing the independence of speech. It thus contends that, despite the teething problems in each nation, the proper use of social media in fostering and maintaining participatory democracy in Pakistan, Nigeria, and Brazil in the twenty-first century has the potential to deepen and consolidate democracy in the respective countries.

Abstract

In contemporary postcolonial literary theory, few critics (Elleke Boehmer and Bill Ashcroft) have traced an academic gap that shows the need to evaluate postcolonial fiction's aesthetic concerns. The dominance of political concerns hardly leaves room to accept the argument of the simultaneous presence of politics and aesthetics in postcolonial literature. It is observed that the same academic gap can be found in literary research conducted on James Joyce's fiction, where political concerns are highlighted, and aesthetic traits of the literature are neglected. Boehmer argues that postcolonial writing, like any other type, is concerned with aesthetics, structure, reception, and perception. This essay aims to analyze James Joyce's selected short fiction to analyze the aesthetic concerns of postcolonial discourse. Utilizing Boehmer's theoretical stance, postcolonial aesthetics can be located in the writing structure and the act of reading, receiving, and perceiving the text that formulates a unique type of postcolonial poetics. In this way, she gives parallel importance to the author and the reader in determining the aesthetic dimensions of postcolonial fiction. The essay argues that Joyce's writing style/structure allows the aesthetic traits of the text to dominate and subtly neutralize the political overtones of the text. Moreover, the structure of his postcolonial writing influences the reader's reception and perception. His authorship gives birth to postcolonial poetics uniquely different from the simplistic view of postcolonial literature.

Abstract

This study aims to provide a comprehensive yet concise review of the research on exploitative leadership, structured within a chronological framework. It begins by outlining the early historical context of leadership studies, tracing the development of exploitative leadership as a distinct concept within the broader category of destructive or negative leadership. The review highlights the evolution of the term, exploring its relevance across diverse academic disciplines such as sociology, psychology, and political science, each of which contributes unique perspectives to the understanding of this phenomenon. Key queries addressed include how exploitative leadership has diverged from other destructive leadership forms, such as abusive supervision or authoritarian leadership, and what specific characteristics define exploitative leaders. The study also investigates the various outcomes associated with this leadership style, with a particular focus on how it influences behavioural and attitudinal responses in the workplace. This analysis is framed within multiple theoretical frameworks, including social exchange theory and the conservation of resources model, offering a rich, interdisciplinary approach to understanding its impact. In conclusion, the study identifies and discusses emerging trends in exploitative leadership research, suggesting future directions for empirical inves
