Abstract

This study investigates the influence of financial technology utilization and budgeting discipline on sustainability performance through financial inclusion in Indonesian handicraft MSMEs. Using a quantitative approach, data were collected from 212 MSME owners and analyzed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM). The results indicate that financial technology utilization and budgeting discipline significantly enhance financial inclusion. Furthermore, both variables have direct positive effects on sustainability performance. Financial inclusion also demonstrates a significant positive impact on sustainability performance, confirming its role as a mediating mechanism. These findings suggest that the integration of digital financial services and structured financial management practices plays a crucial role in improving MSME sustainability. The study contributes to the literature by extending Financial Inclusion Theory through the incorporation of technological and behavioral factors. Practically, the results provide insights for policymakers and practitioners in promoting financial inclusion and sustainable business practices. However, the study is limited by its cross-sectional design and sample scope. Future research is recommended to explore additional variables and longitudinal data to enhance generalizability. Overall, this study highlights the importance of financial access and management in achieving sustainable MSME performance.

Abstract

This study aims to explore how Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Indonesia implement sustainable financial management within the context of green business adaptation. The study employed a qualitative exploratory approach involving 15 MSME owners operating in the food and beverage, fashion, handicraft, and eco-friendly product sectors. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews and direct observation, then analyzed using thematic analysis. The findings reveal that sustainable financial management among MSMEs is primarily implemented through operational efficiency, waste reduction, environmentally responsible resource allocation, and gradual adaptation toward sustainable business practices. Sustainability adaptation is strongly influenced by owner-manager values, customer expectations, market pressures, and organizational learning processes. The study also found that sustainable financial management contributes positively to organizational resilience, customer trust, and long-term business confidence. However, MSMEs continue to face challenges related to limited financial resources, restricted access to green financing, inadequate sustainability knowledge, and insufficient institutional support. The study contributes theoretically by strengthening Sustainable Financial Management Theory within MSME contexts and practically by providing insights for policymakers and business development institutions in supporting sustainability transformation among small businesses in Indonesia.

Abstract

Small and Medium Enterprises tax compliance is a critical issue in efforts to broaden the tax base and increase government revenue; however, the literature reveals variations in determining factors and a concentration of studies in developing countries. This systematic literature review aims to summarize the empirical evidence regarding the factors influencing SME tax compliance, as well as policy implications and directions for further research. The study followed the PRISMA guidelines with a search in the Scopus database for the period 2016 to 2025, yielding 19 articles that met the inclusion criteria. The selection process included identification, screening, eligibility assessment, and inclusion; analysis was conducted descriptively and thematically to extract constructs, methods, and key findings. The review results identified five key factors that consistently influence SME tax compliance: awareness of tax obligations, characteristics of accounting practices, complexity of tax policies, availability of tax information, and the probability of audits. This study underscores the importance of tax information and provides integrated evidence for policymakers.

Abstract

The rapid growth of digital payment systems has accelerated the transformation toward a cashless economy in emerging markets, including Indonesia. One of the most widely adopted digital payment innovations is the Quick Response Code Indonesian Standard (QRIS), which has increasingly been implemented in traditional retail markets. This study aims to extend the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology 2 (UTAUT2) to examine the determinants of behavioral intention and use behavior toward QRIS adoption in traditional retail markets. The study employed a quantitative explanatory approach using survey data collected from QRIS users consisting of traditional retail merchants and consumers. Data were analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) to evaluate the relationships among variables. The findings reveal that performance expectancy, effort expectancy, social influence, facilitating conditions, and habit significantly influence behavioral intention toward QRIS adoption. Furthermore, facilitating conditions, habit, and behavioral intention significantly affect actual use behavior. In contrast, hedonic motivation and price value were found to have no significant effect on behavioral intention. The results indicate that QRIS adoption in traditional retail markets is primarily driven by practical utility, ease of use, social encouragement, technological readiness, and habitual behavior rather than emotional enjoyment or economic incentives. This study contributes to the literature on fintech adoption by extending the UTAUT2 framework within the context of digital payment adoption in emerging economies. The findings also provide practical implications for policymakers, fintech providers, and traditional market stakeholders in accelerating digital payment transformation and strengthening financial inclusion.

Abstract

The rapid digital transformation in Indonesia has established social media marketing as a key tool for enhancing the competitiveness and performance of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs). This study conducts a systematic literature review using Scopus-indexed articles published from 2016 to 2025, with an exclusive focus on Indonesian SMEs. The objective is to synthesize empirical evidence, highlighting strategic patterns that contribute to the success of social media marketing. This review follows the PRISMA protocol, which encompasses article selection, screening, eligibility assessment, and thematic synthesis. The 7 studies reviewed cover various sectors such as food and beverages, retail, and the creative industries. Findings indicate that social media marketing significantly enhances brand awareness, customer engagement, and innovation capacity, particularly when integrated with an entrepreneurial orientation and digital literacy. Studies consistently show that SMEs utilizing social media for content marketing, crowdsourcing, and customer relationship management achieve higher marketing performance and sustainable growth. However, this review also identifies persistent barriers, including limited financial resources, inadequate technological skills, and strategic misalignment between digital initiatives and organizational goals. Practitioners are advised to design targeted training programs, financial incentives, and collaborative ecosystems that strengthen SMEs’ digital competitiveness. Future empirical studies are expected to integrate cross-sector and regional comparisons to capture Indonesia’s diverse SME landscape and support evidence-based policy development.

Abstract

The surge in e-commerce activities has heightened rivalry within digital marketplaces, forcing firms to optimize the determinants of consumer buying behavior. Even though Shopee dominates the Indonesian market, issues surrounding platform functionality, user experience, and credibility continue to critically shape online shopping choices, especially in regional areas like Kebumen Regency. Consequently, this research investigates how website quality, perceived ease of use, and consumer trust impact purchasing decisions among Shopee clients in Kebumen Regency. Utilizing a quantitative approach with a causal framework, data were gathered from 100 purposely sampled Shopee users who had completed a transaction in the preceding six months. Statistical evaluation via multiple linear regression in SPSS demonstrated that website quality, perceived ease of use, and consumer trust independently exert a positive and significant influence on buying decisions. Notably, consumer trust emerged as the primary driver, followed sequentially by perceived ease of use and website quality. Jointly, these three predictors significantly affect the dependent variable, with an R-squared value of 0.707, signifying that the model accounts for 70.7% of the variance in consumer purchase choices. These insights imply that upgrading platform quality, simplifying interface usability, and fostering user trust are pivotal tactical moves for driving sales and maintaining a competitive edge in the digital retail sector.
