Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk membuat filter air sederhana dan menguji kualitas fisik dan kimia air yang di filter. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode deskriptif untuk menganalisis sampel air dan metode eksperimen untuk membuat filter air sederhana. Parameter yang diukur adalah derajat keasaman (pH), total partikel terlarut (TDS), kadar garam/salinitas, daya hantar listrik (DHL), turdibity/kekeruhan dan total padatan tersuspensi (TSS). Berdasarkan hasil pengujian menggunakan bahan dan alat diatas terjadi perubahan pada air yang di filtrasi pada satu kali penyaringan. Partikel dari air kotor disaring dengan lapisan kerikil kecil diawal untuk menyaring kotoran kasar lalu diikuti dengan penyaringan kotoran halus dengan pasir. Setelah pasir terdapat lapisan sabut kelapa yang berfungsi sebagai penyaring kotoran halus lalu di beri lagi lapisan pasir lagi, kemudian lapisan sabut kelapa yang juga sama-sama untuk menyaring kotoran halus. Lalu berikutnya terdapat lapisan tawas yang berfungsi untuk mengendapkan partikel. Hasil pengujian air menunjukkan bahwa sampel air yang di filter memiliki nilai pH 4,7, nilai salinitas 5,51 ppm, nilai TDS 7,31 mg/L, nilai konduktivitas 11,10 μS/cm, nilai turdibity 28,1 NTU dan nilai TSS 933 mg/L.

Abstract

This study examines the effectiveness of a simple water filtration system using a combination of natural media and coagulants. The filter system comprises coconut fiber, coastal sand, zeolite, activated carbon, wood charcoal, gravel, and coral fragments. Alum and Moringa seeds were tested as coagulants. The filtration process demonstrated a reduction in turbidity from >1000 NTU to 6.94 NTU and pH normalization from 8.3 to 6.9. However, increases in TDS and conductivity were observed. Post-filtration coagulant application yielded varied results, with Moringa seeds showing greater potential in maintaining pH and water clarity compared to alum. Although some parameters such as pH, TDS, and temperature met clean water standards after treatment, high TSS (>1000 mg/L) and turbidity (72.5-270 NTU) levels indicate the need for further optimization. This research highlights both the potential and challenges in developing water treatment systems based on local resources, as well as the importance of adjusting settling time and coagulant dosage to enhance the quality of treated water.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to evaluate compliance with the applicable regulations. The research methods include data collection, both primary and secondary, field observations, and interviews with relevant parties, along with relevant literature as supporting material for this study. The findings of the research indicate that PT X has not yet implemented several hazardous waste (B3) management steps, including waste identification and sorting, temporary storage, as well as transportation and final waste processing. However, there are several challenges encountered, such as a lack of storage facilities meeting the standards, limitations in internal supervision, and a lack of employee awareness regarding the importance of proper hazardous waste management. This research recommends several improvements, such as upgrading storage facilities to meet standards, enhancing training and outreach programs for employees, and strengthening the supervision and monitoring system of hazardous waste management. The implementation of these recommendations is expected to improve the effectiveness of hazardous waste management at PT X and reduce negative impacts on the environment and the surrounding community's health.

Abstract

Sustainable development is a principle that prioritizes achieving human development while maintaining natural systems to ensure that society remains dependent on nature and the resources it contains. This research aims to obtain conclusions regarding the extent to which the younger generation is aware of the SDGs with 17 indicators in the tertiary sector. The research method used in this research is a quantitative method using research instruments in the form of questionnaires. This research was conducted using a questionnaire to collect data, and covers all 17 SDGs. Consists of 51 closed-ended questions covering a variety of current social, economic and environmental topics. Determining the population sample size was calculated using the Slovin formula, so that 67 active students of the biology study program were obtained as respondents in this research. The overall level of awareness of students in the biology study program at UIN Sunan Ampel Surabaya is relatively high, this is shown by students who have high knowledge and a positive attitude. It is recommended that the introduction of SDGs to students needs to be deepened, this can be done by adding new courses related to global goals and sustainable development.

Abstract

Perusahaan Umum Daerah (PERUMDA) Air Minum Tirta Muare Ulakan merupakan usaha milik daerah yang bergerak dalam penyediaan distribusi air bersih bagi masyarakat di Kabupaten Sambas. SPAM IKK Teluk Keramat hanya melayani 0,046% dari 75.773 jiwa penduduk di Kecamatan Teluk Keramat. Tujuan dari perencanaan ini adalah merencanakan pengembangan jaringan distribusi air bersih pada wilayah distribusi SPAM IKK Teluk Keramat. Tahapan analisis data dimulai dari analisis kebutuhan air bersih saat ini. Analisis jaringan distribusi menggunakan software  Epanet 2.2 dengan dua simulasi. Simulasi pertama menggunakan data eksisting serta dilakukan perluasan jaringan, dan simulasi kedua dilakukan perbaikan jaringan pada simulasi pertama. Air yang akan didistribusikan adalah sebesar 35 liter/detik. Jenis pipa yang digunakan adalah Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) dengan diameter sebesar 100 mm sepanjang 3.385 m dan diameter 75 mm sepanjang 1.729 m. Pada running  kedua Epanet 2.2 dilakukan perbaikan jaringan dengan menambahkan pompa dan mengubah diameter pipa. Hasil running  kedua Epanet 2.2 didapatkan nilai pressure  pada daerah terjauh yaitu node  J54 adalah sebesar 20,33 m. Nilai velocity  pada link pipa L53 sebesar 0,57 m/s dan nilai unit headloss  sebesar 11,03 m/km.

Abstract

Di Indonesia, permintaan minyak goreng sangat tinggi, baik untuk kebutuhan rumah tangga, pedagang kaki lima, maupun industri makanan seperti restoran. Oleh karena itu, tidak mengherankan jika jumlah limbah minyak goreng yang dihasilkan cukup banyak. Minimnya kesadaran akan bahaya minyak goreng bekas, serta minimnya praktik daur ulang semakin memperparah masalah ini. Padahal, minyak goreng bekas dapat didaur ulang menjadi produk yang lebih bermanfaat dengan cara mengolah limbah minyak goreng bekas menjadi produk pembersih lantai dengan cara memadukan minyak goreng bekas yang diolah dengan ekstrak buah mengkudu sebagai antibakteri dan antijamur. Proses pembuatan sabun pel dengan cara memurnikan minyak goreng bekas dengan karbon aktif selama 24 jam kemudian dicampur dengan basa kuat NaOH dan didiamkan selama 24 jam hingga terbentuk dua lapisan. Tahap selanjutnya adalah penambahan asam sitrat untuk menurunkan pH larutan, ditambahkan hingga pH memenuhi syarat SNI 1842:2019 pada kisaran 6-11. Tingkat keasaman atau pH sabun pel lantai yang terbentuk adalah 6, sehingga dapat dikatakan pH sabun pel lantai yang terbentuk telah memenuhi syarat.

Abstract

Organic waste management is one of the environmental challenges that requires practical and environmentally friendly solutions. This study aims to design and create organic waste management tools in the form of a composter and Takakura using experimental methods. The composter is designed to support the aerobic composting process with air ventilation, while the Takakura is equipped with coconut fiber pads and cardboard protectors to maintain humidity and air circulation. The manufacturing process is carried out using simple materials and easily accessible equipment, making both tools practical for application on a household scale. The test results show that both tools are effective in processing organic waste into nutrient-rich, environmentally friendly compost that has the potential to support sustainable agriculture. This study concludes that the use of composters and Takakura can be an effective solution to reduce the volume of organic waste that ends up in landfills (TPA), while increasing public awareness of the importance of sustainable waste management. This tool is expected to encourage better waste management and contribute to the creation of a clean and healthy environment.

Abstract

This study examines the implementation of LOSIDA (Lodong Sisa Dapur), an integrated organic waste management system, at Muhammadiyah University of Sorong. The research employs a quantitative experimental approach, focusing on system design evaluation, composting process analysis, and end-product characterization. The LOSIDA system, constructed using 4-inch PVC pipes with strategic aeration holes, demonstrates effective conversion of household organic waste into quality compost over a three-month period. The integration of the composting system with planting media creates an efficient closed nutrient cycle, enabling direct utilization of decomposition products. Results indicate successful organic matter degradation with optimal C/N ratio management (25:1) and proper aeration control. The final compost exhibits desirable physical characteristics, including homogeneous crumbly texture and dark brown coloration, indicating proper humus content. This research validates LOSIDA as a practical solution for sustainable household organic waste management in urban areas.

Abstract

This research aims to design and evaluate a stacked bucket system as a simple solution for managing household organic waste. The research method was carried out experimentally with a quantitative approach, involving the stages of preparation, manufacture and evaluation of the use of stacked buckets. The research results showed that the stacked bucket design equipped with a hole in the bottom and a tap to drain the leachate could function well. However, the success of this system was disrupted by failures in the composting process due to the condition of the organic waste being too dry and the lack of routine checks during fermentation. However, this research succeeded in identifying important factors such as humidity and the use of EM4 fluid to support the activity of microorganisms in the decomposition process. With further optimization, stacked buckets have the potential to become an effective, environmentally friendly and sustainable organic waste management method.

Abstract

Rainwater is a source of clean water that can be used to meet human needs such as drinking, bathing, washing, and other basic needs. Rainwater is often ignored and disposed of as runoff. In fact, rainwater has great potential if used as a source of clean water. In some areas, the supply of groundwater and PDAM is not enough to meet the needs of each household. The research was conducted by making a rainwater cross-section tool by providing a water tower that will enter a simple water filtration tool. Decaffeination The research resulted in a simple rainwater collection and filtration system using materials such as silica sand, zeolite, activated carbon, and sponges. The rainwater collected in the tower is then flowed into the filtration tool. As a result, the water that was previously cloudy became clearer and odorless, indicating that the filtration process was going well. Utilization of rainwater as a source of clean water with a collection system, Water collection depends on the planning location. The greater the rainfall, the more water will be collected. The materials / tools used are gutters, collection towers. Good water quality standards are stated in the Republic of Indonesia Government Regulation Number 82 of 2001 concerning Water Quality Management and Water Pollution Control.
