Abstract

This research aims to analyze the management mechanism of zakat, infaq, and alms (ZIS) and its contribution to food security, education, and sanitation at the Al-Maun Bina Akhlaq Mulia Islamic Boarding School. Apart from that, this research also evaluates the socio-economic impact of ZIS management for students and the surrounding community, and examines the potential for replicating this model in other Islamic educational institutions. The method used is a qualitative approach with data collection techniques through interviews, observation, and documentation. The research results show that the ZIS management mechanism in Islamic boarding schools is carried out transparently and participatively by involving various parties, such as partner institutions and the community. ZIS funds play an important role in ensuring the food needs of students, supporting access and quality of education, and improving the sanitation quality of the Islamic boarding school environment. The socio-economic impacts generated include increasing the welfare of students, empowering the community, and strengthening the value of social solidarity. This ZIS management model is considered to have the potential to be replicated by other Islamic educational institutions, provided there is professional management, collaborative support, and innovation in resource management. This research provides a practical contribution to optimizing ZIS funds in strengthening the Islamic boarding school-based education system

Abstract

The consumer behavior of Indonesian people in spending money to meet their daily needs has become a common phenomenon, especially in the current digital era. Although online shopping through e-commerce provides convenience, many individuals become trapped in a cycle of waste by purchasing items they don't need. This research aims to explore the role of gold investment as a more productive alternative in improving the economic welfare of society. In the Sharia context, gold investment is not only considered a safe instrument but also a way to protect the value of wealth from inflation. Qualitative research methods were used to analyze gold investment practices in Indonesia, with a focus on accessibility and the potential profits offered. The research results show that gold investment can be a solution to overcome consumer behavior and improve people's financial welfare. By investing in gold, people can not only store wealth but also have assets that are easy to liquidate when needed. This research recommends that people be wiser in managing their finances by diverting consumer spending into more useful investments, such as gold, to achieve long-term prosperity.

Abstract

Pesantren (Islamic boarding schools) play a strategic role as educational institutions in shaping character and empowering communities. However, many pesantren face significant challenges in terms of operational funding and institutional development. This study aims to: (1) analyze the utilization of productive waqf potential to promote economic self-reliance at Al Ihsan Al Murtadlo Islamic Boarding School in Bululawang, Malang; and (2) examine the management of productive waqf in supporting educational activities at the same institution. This research employs a descriptive qualitative approach using a case study method. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with the pesantren leader, waqf managers (Kyai H. Ahmad Suryanto, Ustadz Bambang Haryanto, and Ustadz Ahmad Fatoni), and community leaders, supplemented by observation and documentation. Data were analyzed through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing using triangulation techniques. The findings reveal that Pondok Pesantren Al Ihsan Al Murtadlo has productively utilized waqf assets, including approximately 5,630 m² of agricultural land (3,060 m² for rice and sugarcane cultivation) and an operational cooperative. The annual budget allocation for productive waqf management reaches Rp103,000,000, with monthly operational costs of approximately Rp2,833,000. The income generated from these waqf activities is used to support operational needs, development of educational facilities, assistance for underprivileged students, and training for students.

Abstract

Value Added Tax (VAT) has become the primary instrument for increasing state revenue in Indonesia. The policy of increasing the VAT rate from 11% to 12%, as stipulated in the Tax Regulation Harmonization Law, aims to strengthen state revenue, reduce dependence on foreign debt, and align the rate with international standards. However, this VAT rate increase policy raises concerns among the public about its potential impact on market share and socio-economic conditions, inflation, and economic stability, which ultimately affects national income both directly and indirectly. This research aims to analyze the impact of the tax increase on the market and the socio-economic conditions of the nation. The approach used is a literature review method, by examining related literature on VAT in 2025 and relevant economic factors. The analysis shows that an increase in VAT rates can boost state revenue, but may also reduce market share and socio-economic conditions that could trigger inflation, especially in an unstable global situation. In the context of Islamic economics, the application of the principle of ihtisab becomes important to ensure that this policy is implemented fairly and does not harm Indonesian society.

Abstract

The conversion of rice fields to non-agricultural uses in Bali poses a serious threat to food security and the sustainability of the Subak traditional irrigation institution. This study aims to identify the driving factors behind rice field conversion at both the regional and household levels. A quantitative approach was employed using a survey method. Secondary data were obtained through a literature review from various relevant sources. Data analysis was conducted using two approaches: (1) logistic regression to examine the factors influencing farmers’ decisions to convert their rice fields at the household level, and (2) multiple linear regression with the Ordinary Least Squares (OLS) method to analyze the determinants of land conversion rates at the regional level. The results show that, at the household level, land conversion is influenced by land sale value, rice productivity, land tax, the proportion of income derived from rice farming, damaged irrigation infrastructure, and proximity to main roads. At the regional level, the conversion rate is significantly affected by the growth of non-agricultural Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP), rice production, population size, the number of hotels and accommodations, and the Farmers’ Terms of Trade (FTT). Spatial planning regulations (RTRW) were found to have no significant effect. These findings highlight the need for more adaptive and context-specific policy approaches to effectively control rice field conversion in Bali.

Abstract

The Murabahah contract, which has long been widely used by Islamic banking institutions to realize their financing functions, has shown several weaknesses, despite being a relatively certain and simple mode to implement. Such certainty, however, becomes a drawback for banks when the banking industry, including Islamic banks, must adjust the amount of credit payments made by customers in accordance with prevailing interest-based models within Islamic banking systems. The objective of this study is to analyze the legal foundations, rationality, and relevance of implementing the Musyarakah Mutanaqisah contract as a solution to the weaknesses of the Murabahan contract in modern Islamic financing. The research methodology employed in this study is library research, which involves examining various primary and secondary sources such as the fatwas of the National Sharia Council og the Indonesian Ulema Council (DSN-MUI), opinions of classical scholars related to partnership-based financing. The findings of this study indicate that the ijtihad of DSN-MUI in formulating the fatwa on Musyarakah Mutanaqisah is strongly supported by both naqli arguments and the views of previous scholars. Although Musyarakah Mutanaqisah represents a new form of business partnership, the application of a hybrid contract approach can serve as an innovative solution for Islamic banking, providing both convenience and fairness for customers

Abstract

Although conceptually, the mudharabah contract emphasizes business cooperation between the fund owner (shahibul maal) and the fund manager (mudharib), in practice, there are still discrepancies between theory and its implementation in the field. This study aims to analyze the implementation of the mudharabah contract in the SiMudaQu product and to assess its level of compliance with Sharia principles and the DSN-MUI fatwa. The research methodology used in this study is descriptive qualitative research with a field research approach. Data collection techniques were employed through in-depth interviews, direct observation, and documentation studies involving BMT managers and members who utilize the SiMudaQu product. The data obtained were analyzed using a descriptive qualitative analysis method by comparing the practices in the field with the theory of fiqh muamalah and the provisions contained in DSN-MUI Fatwa No. 07/DSN-MUI/IV/2000 concerning Mudharabah (Qiradh) Financing. The results show that the implementation of the mudharabah contract in the SiMudaQu product is not fully in accordance with the theory of fiqh muamalah. Administratively, the BMT has used the mudharabah contract through the signing of documents and the establishment of a ratio of 40% for members and 60% for the BMT. However, the savings funds are not managed productively, as is characteristic of a true mudharabah. This practice indicates that the contract used is still formal and administrative in nature and does not reflect the principles of partnership and justice as stipulated in the DSN-MUI fatwa No. 07/DSN-MUI/IV/2000. Therefore, a review of the application of the contract in the SiMudaQu product is necessary to ensure its compliance with sharia principles and the values of maqāṣid al-syarī‘ah.

Abstract

The Islamic finance industry in Indonesia has experienced significant growth over the last few decades. However, this growth has not been accompanied by increased public understanding of sharia principles, especially regarding riba in microfinance products. This is a challenge in increasing Islamic financial literacy and inclusion, especially in rural areas such as Kaligede Senori Tuban Village, where public understanding of riba remains low, possibly due to limited Islamic financial literacy, religious awareness, and educational levels. The purpose of this study is to determine the influence of Islamic financial literacy, religious awareness, and education level on the understanding of riba of sharia microfinance products. This study uses a quantitative approach, employing a survey method with an online questionnaire distributed to 35 housewives in Kaligede Village. The data obtained was then analyzed using multiple linear regression with the help of SPSS 16.0 software.
