BACA: JURNAL DOKUMENTASI DAN INFORMASI (Jurnal BACA) is a scientific journal in the documentation, information, and library subject that is published consistently by The National Research and Innovation Agency (Previously this Journal was managed by Center for Scientific Data and Documentation - Indonesian Institute of Sciences (PDDI LIPI). The publishing purpose is to provide up-to-date and quality information to readers who have an interest in science and technology development in these topics. Every article published in Jurnal BACA is the result of research activities, literature review, and best practices. Jurnal BACA is published twice a year, precisely in June and December. The number of articles for each issue is at least five articles. As a reference for submitting manuscripts, the author can refer to ODLIS to determine the list of terms related to the scope and focus of the journal. Abstract

To ensure the availability of information needed by employees of PT KAI (Persero) Operating Area 1, EDMS becomes a solution that utilizes information technology and communication in its management. This research uses a qualitative approach with descriptive case study research method. The research data was obtained through observation, interviews and document studies. The results of this study indicate that the implementation of EDMS in structuring documents of PT KAI Daerah Operasi 1 Jakarta using the Rail Document System serves to cut time in the bureaucratic process; saving resources; and more efficient and effective access. This can be reflected in the findings obtained by researchers indicating that these components have been implemented in electronic document processing activities, although in practice there are still things that need to be improved to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the RDS system.

Abstract

This study aims to analyse the implementation of RDM at PDDI-LIPI and to assess its staff’s understanding about RDM services. This article also discusses the challenges and obstacles PDDI faces in providing RDM services. The data was collected via an online survey from 28 July to 7 August 2020. The survey consisted of 35 questions and was shared with 36 respondents via social media. The results identified categories such as research data management services, data management planning services, data archiving services, funding, and staff competency and training needs. In addition, this article also discusses the approach and assessment of RDM services, challenges in providing RDM services, and plans for further developing RDM services at PDDI-LIPI. The results showed that the PDDI staff's understanding of RDM services is adequate. As a new service, the implementation of RDM at PDDI-LIPI continues to develop toward optimisation. RIN is a platform used by PDDI to support this goal. The three biggest obstacles faced by PDDI-LIPI in developing RDM services are limited human resources, competence and budget. Various trainings related to RDM, both sending staff off campus and inviting trainers to campus, were carried out by PDDI to overcome these obstacles. It is recommended to conduct further research on the mapping and upskilling of staff in charge of RDM services.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine and describe the implementation of the National Standards for Higher Education Libraries (SNP-PT) that have been carried out by UM Library. The method used in this research is a combination of qualitative-quantitative, by observing and conducting interviews related to the implementation of the SNP-PT at the UM Library as well as using data in the form of numbers on the performance indicators of each component of the national standard. Achievement of collection indicators, UM Library have implemented 12 out of 14 collection standards for higher education libraries (85,7%). Achievement of facilities and infrastructure indicators, UM Library have implemented 18 of 19 standard facilities and infrastructure for higher education libraries (94,7%). Achievement of service indicators, UM Library have implemented 5 out of 5 service standards for higher education libraries (100%). Achievement of staff indicators, UM Library have implemented 8 out of 10 staff standards for higher education libraries (80%). Achievement of standard administration indicators, UM Library has implemented 6 out of 7 higher education library administration standards (85,7%). Achievement of management indicators, UM Library have implemented 12 out of 12 management standards for higher education libraries (100%). This research shows that the implementation of the SNP-PT policy has been “good” done in UM Library with an average achievement 91,01% of the standards that have been set.

Abstract

This study aims to explain to use a VPN in the UNISMA Library. The research method used is descriptive-qualitative and data was obtained through interviews with five informants, observation, and documentation. Data analysis techniques by collecting data, data reduction, data presentation and drawing conclusions. While the validity of the data was obtained through triangulation. The results showed that the use of VPN in the UNISMA Library to speed up internet connection and data privacy. UNISMA library uses a proxy server router operating system for VPN networks. To be able to make Mikrotik a VPN server, configuration is required which includes IP pool configuration, IP router configuration, PPP configuration, DHCP server configuration, NAT by pass firewall configuration and IP security configuration. The library selection of VPN products considers the aspects of strong authentication, encryption that is strong enough, meets standards, integration with other field network services.

Abstract

This study aims to provide an overview of how public value research topics developed from 2001 to 2020. The mapping is expected to provide an overview of the development of research and provide input on the topic of public value research. This study uses the Scopus database from 2001 to 2020 to calculate citation analysis using the Publish or Perish (PoP) application and mapping publications using the VOSViewer application. From the analysis of literature studies based on the Scopus database from 2001 to 2020 272 journal articles are discussing public value research, it was found that the most publications were in 2019 (47 publications) and the highest research was dominated by the United Kingdom (65). For the highest number of citations, the publication with the title "From new public management to public value: Paradigmatic change and managerial implications" was 368 citations. Social science subjects are the most discussed in research on public values. The results of the visualization with the VOSViewer application for a public value research network visualization map are divided into 4 clusters. Density visualization maps can be seen that research on the topic of public value with the subject of performance management and cultural policy is still small, so there is still a chance for research. Based on the analysis of the research topic of public value, there is still a large enough opportunity for research to be carried out, especially in Indonesia based on the Scopus database, researchers have not researched the topic of public value research.

Abstract

This research was conducted with the aim to find out what information is needed by the teacher in supporting teaching and learning activities, to find out the use of Internet-based information sources, and to find out the obstacles that arise in searching information what is done to overcome obstacles in conducting information searches. The method used in this study is a descriptive method. The Informant in this study were teachers of SD Laboratorium School, Indonesia University of Education. The results of the study found that the information needs of teachers were four aspects. Aspects of learning planning, information needs include RPP planning, teacher learning objectives, competencies, indicators, and material scope. Content or material aspects or learning experiences of information needs include student characteristics, forms of learning activities, learning strategies, and learning outcome evaluation tools. The aspects of choosing learning strategies and methods of information needs include learning objectives, students' initial knowledge, student characteristics, time allocation, supporting facilities, and the surrounding situation. The aspect of media selection, information needs include learning objectives, material scope, student characteristics, supporting features and technological development. Obstacles in information retrieval include time, ICT skills, weak and lazy search techniques.

Abstract

This study aims to understand the needs and search for information from primiparous mothers, so that they can provide appropriate information and certainly can reduce maternal anxiety towards postpartum depression. The research method used is a case study on WhatsApp Group (WAG) Zona Mama. The result is that there is concern and anxiety from primiparous mothers in the postpartum phase. This happens because of a lack of information about topics such as breastfeeding, how to care for children, and complementary feeding provided by information providers such as health workers and librarians. Information searching that has been done so far using an active scanning model that is carrying out active information retrieval, but does not have a detailed plan. Therefore, it seems that information leaflets from information providers such as hospitals and libraries are needed by new mothers. Sometimes websites and forums are doubtful by mothers. They need an information center that is consistent and controlled by professional.

Abstract

The aim of this study is to explore the student information behaviors of the Faculty of Humanities, UNDIP. Research uses quantitative methods to describe student behavior in information search. The study found that Google is the most popular site for the students when they are looking for information. However, they still use the primary resources such as academic journals as their main references. The study also found that the students have less used the subscribed academic databases. The identification of students’ information behavior is important as it will be used for the enhancement of UNDIP library services. The results of this study can also be used as a library reference for UNDIP in designing user education that will support the improvement of student information search skills.

Abstract

This study aims to find out the standard information needs in the Puspiptek Region. While the specific objective of this study is to know the types of standard and standard classification required. The study was carried out descriptively. The data were collected by inventorying standard information needs during the 2011-2017 period. The results of this study concluded: 1) the type of standard information needed in Puspiptek Serpong Area are ASTM, JIS, ISO, BS, SNI, DIN, IEC, UIC; 2) based on the classification, the standards needed in the Puspiptek Serpong area are: a) ASTM, miscellaneous material classification; miscellaneous subjects; cementious, ceramic, concrete, and masonry material; b) JIS, railway engineering classification; chemical engineering; mechanical engineering; c) ISO, rubber and plastic industries classification; metallurgy; road vehicles engineering; d) British standard, agriculture classification; construction materials and building; chemical technology; e) SNI, metallurgy classification; food technology; construction materials and building; f) DIN standard, rubber and plastic industries classification; paint and colour industries; g) IEC standard, electrical engineering classification; testing/ environmental testing. The results of this study can be the recommendations for decision makers in the context of procurement/provision of documents, especially standard documents in the Puspiptek Serpong, for the development of science and technology.

Abstract

The aim of this study to gain an understanding of the government's efforts to organize and control fake news in the democratic era, especially ahead of the 2019 election. This research used the qualitative research methods, with a critical discourse analysis approach. Data was obtained from news texts published by online media during in 2018. Especially those containing fake news relating to general elections. Data collection used documentation techniques. The results showed that what was needed to control fake news were by making people healthy in cyberspace. The government must worked together with various organizations to disseminate and educate the public regarding content in cyberspace. In addition, the government have also set up a special institution which was tasked with overseeing the circulation of news on the internet and testing the truth.
