Abstract

This research aims to apply a demonstration method using an abacus which can overcome the problem of counting 1-10 in mentally retarded children. This research uses a type of experimental research, namely single subject research with a B-A-A-B design. The data obtained was analyzed using quantitative descriptive analysis and then clarified using graphs and tables. The subjects of this research were students with moderate mental retardation who experienced difficulty in solving addition calculation problems. From the research results, the intervention phase-1, baseline-1, and intervention-2 experienced an increase after being given the intervention and in the baseline phase-2 there was a decrease because the intervention was not provided for a long period of time. With the demonstration method assisted by abacus media, there is an influence on the numeracy skills of mentally retarded students

Abstract

This study aims to determine the relationship between empathy and prosocial behavior of non-disabled students towards students with disabilities. Special Education Study Program (PKh) FKIP Sebelas Maret University. This research is a quantitative research of the correlational type This research was conducted at Sebelas Maret University, Special Education Study Program, involving non-disabled students of the 2020, 2021, 2022, and 2023 batches. The data collection method uses an online questionnaire where respondents need to fill out the available forms. Data analysis uses inferential statistics. The results of the study showed a considerable strong correlation between empathy and prosocial behavior with a negative correlation in non-disabled students in the Special Education Study Program (PKh) FKIP UNS. It is hoped that this research will be a reminder for Special Education Study Program students to pay attention to the use of empathy as necessary in daily life.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of prompting on the improvement of self-care abilities in ninth-grade students with intellectual disabilities at SLB Negeri Karanganyar. This research is an experimental quantitative study with a Single Subject Research (SSR) design using A-B-A. The subject of this research is a ninth-grade student with intellectual disabilities. The sampling technique used is a nonprobability sampling technique, specifically purposive sampling. The data collection technique used was a performance test. The reliability test technique uses interrater reliability with a reliability of 0.999. The data analysis technique in this study uses descriptive statistics and visual graph analysis, which includes within-condition analysis and between-condition analysis. Based on the research results, at the baseline 1 stage (A1), the subjects' abilities were still in the low category with a mean score of 49.53. At the intervention stage (B), the subjects' abilities showed improvement, evidenced by a mean score of 73.60. At the baseline 2 stage (A2), the subjects' abilities continued to improve with a mean score of 98.14. The research results show that the provision of prompting has an impact on the improvement of self-care abilities in ninth-grade students with intellectual disabilities at SLB Negeri Karanganyar.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the correlations between parental social support for children with autism and the social interaction of children with autism at SLB N Surakarta. This research is a correlational quantitative study. The subjects of the research were 31 parents who have children aged 7-20 years. The sampling technique used was non-probability sampling with purposive sampling. Data collection technique using Likert scale instruments, consisting of a social support instrument and a social interaction instrument. The social support questionnaire used was a  based on the theory of Wangi & Budisetyani (2020), which has 4 aspects and was developed into 40 statement items. The reliability test of the instrument used Cronbach’s Alpha, yielding a correlation coefficient of 0.837. The social interaction questionnaire based on the theory of Syahrial Syarbaini and Rudiyanta (as cited in Setyawan, 2016), which has 2 aspects and was developed into 40 statement items. The Cronbach’s Alpha reliability test on the social interaction instrument yielded a correlation coefficient of 0.905. The research results were analyzed using Pearson product-moment correlation test, yielding a calculated r-value of 0.618, with a significance level of p (0.000) < p (0.05), which means H0 is rejected and Ha is accepted. Therefore, it can be concluded that there is a strong correlation between parental social support for children with autism and the social interaction of children with autism.

Abstract

Students with hearing loss are included among children with special needs.  Students with hearing loss are people with mild to severe hearing impairments. This study aims to determine the effect of body mapping media on the ability to recognize body parts in fourth-grade students with hearing loss at SLB YRTRW Surakarta in the 2024/2025 academic year. This study is a quantitative pre-experimental study with a one-group pretest-posttest research design. This data collection technique uses an action test obtained through observation. The validity technique in this study uses content validity which is calculated using Aiken's V formula. The reliability test in this study uses interrater reliability using the ICC calculation. The data that has been collected was analyzed using a non-parametric test in the form of the Wilcoxon Sign Rank Test. The results of this study include the results of the assessment of the action test of the ability to recognize body parts of fourth-grade students with hearing loss. The average pretest score was 54.92, while the posttest score was 82.12. This study concludes that body mapping media affects the ability to recognize body parts in fourth-grade students with hearing loss at SLB YRTRW Surakarta in the 2024/2025 academic year.
