Abstract

This study aims to examine the participation of husbands/male siblings as promotional agents for early breast cancer screening in patriarchal regions and to analyze the dynamics of their involvement in women's health campaigns. This research employs a qualitative approach with a case study method conducted in Mamuju Regency during January-February 2025. The research subjects consisted of 24 respondents (12 males and 12 females) selected through purposive sampling. Data collection was carried out through in-depth interviews, focus group discussions (FGD), participatory observation, and questionnaires. Qualitative data analysis utilized thematic analysis with triangulation, while quantitative data were analyzed descriptively. The findings reveal a significant paradox between high participation motivation and low knowledge levels among males. The average knowledge of males regarding breast cancer was only 34.6% compared to 66.9% for females, with the largest gap in aspects of breast self-examination (BSE) methods (17% vs 58%) and risk factors (33% vs 75%). Nevertheless, male participation motivation was remarkably strong, driven by personal factors (loss experiences), relational factors (family affection), and religious factors (religious obligations). Male involvement was proven to increase female compliance with early detection by 75% and create a dynamic support system within households. Male participation as promotional agents for early breast cancer screening in patriarchal regions proves effective despite knowledge limitations. Caring masculinity can develop within patriarchal contexts through strategic reframing without eliminating traditional masculine identity. Effective intervention strategies include religious legitimization, familial approaches, and empowerment of accompanying roles. This research demonstrates that emotional engagement and procedural support can compensate for cognitive limitations in health advocacy, providing new insights for developing gender-sensitive health promotion programs in patriarchal societies.

Abstract

Agricultural land is one of the most strategic resources in supporting food security at both the national and regional levels. However, the rapid expansion of urbanization and economic development often leads to the conversion of productive agricultural land for non-agricultural purposes. This study examines the implementation of Regional Regulation No. 5 of 2015 concerning the Protection of Sustainable Food Agricultural Land (PLP2B) in Sorong Regency, Southwest Papua Province, Indonesia. The research employs Van Meter and Van Horn’s policy implementation model, which emphasizes six variables: policy standards and objectives, policy resources, inter-organizational communication and enforcement, characteristics of implementing agencies, attitudes of implementers, and socio-economic and political conditions. A qualitative descriptive approach was used, supported by survey data. A total of 111 farmers, 5 village officials, and 8 representatives from key government agencies (Department of Agriculture, Bappeda, Environmental Agency, and DPMPTSP) participated in the study through proportional random and purposive sampling techniques. Data were collected using questionnaires, in-depth interviews, and direct observations. The results indicate that although most farmers (76%) support maintaining agricultural land despite economic pressures, the implementation of PLP2B remains suboptimal. Limited financial resources, weak coordination among agencies, lack of public awareness, and socio-economic pressures such as high land prices and urbanization are the primary obstacles. The study concludes that stronger institutional capacity, effective communication, consistent spatial planning integration, and farmer-oriented economic incentives are urgently required to safeguard agricultural land and ensure regional food security.

Abstract

Sprint speed is one of the crucial physical components in modern football. One method that can be used to increase sprint speed is strength training. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of a strength training program on increasing sprint speed in football players. The research method used was an experiment with a pre-test and post-test design on a group of football players aged 18–25 years. The subjects were divided into two groups, namely the experimental group that underwent a strength training program for 8 weeks and the control group that underwent conventional training. Sprint speed data were collected using a 30-meter sprint test before and after the intervention. The results showed that there was a significant increase in sprint speed in the experimental group compared to the control group (p <0.05). These findings indicate that a strength training program has a positive impact on increasing sprint speed in football players. Therefore, it is recommended for coaches and sports practitioners to integrate strength training into training programs to improve athlete performance.

Abstract

DC motor speed regulation remains a critical issue in industrial automation due to nonlinear dynamics, load disturbances, and parameter uncertainty. Proportional Integral Derivative control is still widely applied because of its simple structure and practical reliability. This study aims to design and evaluate an effective PID-based control strategy for DC motor speed regulation by integrating classical tuning and optimization-based approaches reported in recent literature. The research adopts a simulation-based experimental design using MATLAB/Simulink to model the DC motor and implement the PID controller. Performance indicators include rise time, settling time, overshoot, and steady-state error. The results show that optimally tuned PID controllers achieve stable speed regulation with low overshoot and fast transient response. Comparative analysis with previous studies confirms that hybrid and adaptive tuning methods significantly enhance robustness under varying load conditions. The findings indicate that PID control remains a competitive solution for DC motor speed regulation when supported by systematic tuning strategies. This study contributes a structured synthesis of recent PID-based control approaches and provides practical guidance for control system designers.

Abstract

Dry sliding wear is a critical failure mechanism in composite materials used in automotive, aerospace, and industrial applications. The increasing use of polymer, metal, and hybrid composites requires a systematic understanding of their tribological behavior under dry conditions. This study experimentally investigates the wear behavior of various composite materials under dry sliding conditions, focusing on the influence of reinforcement type, applied load, sliding velocity, and material composition. A pin-on-disc tribometer was employed to evaluate wear rate and coefficient of friction across different composite systems. The experimental results demonstrate that composites reinforced with ceramic and carbon-based fillers exhibit significantly lower wear rates compared to unreinforced matrices. Hybrid composites show superior wear resistance due to synergistic reinforcement effects. The findings are consistent with previous studies on epoxy, aluminum, magnesium, and polymer-based composites reported in recent tribology literature. The study confirms that reinforcement fraction and operating parameters strongly govern wear mechanisms, transitioning from abrasive to adhesive and delamination wear at higher loads. This research provides practical insights for material selection and design optimization of composite components subjected to dry sliding conditions.
