Abstract

ALFILA. Antioxidant Activity Test of Ethanol Extract of Watermelon (Citrullus lanatus) Peel and Seeds Using the DPPH (1,1 diphenyl-2-picryhidrazyl) Method (Supervised by Andi Amaliah Dahlia and Mamat Pratama).Watermelon is a member of the Cucurbitaceae family which is a type of pumpkin. Empirically it can be used as a traditional medicine for body conditioning, urine laxative, gastric and intestinal lubricant and anti-inflammatory drug. The purpose of this study was to determine the antioxidant activity of the ethanol extract of watermelon rind and seeds and to determine the value of the antioxidant activity of the ethanol extract of watermelon rind and seeds using the DPPH (1,1 diphenyl-2-picryhidrazyl) method. Samples were extracted by maceration method using 96% ethanol solvent. Quantitative tests were carried out on each extract using the UV-Vis spectrophotometry method. The absorbance was measured at a maximum wavelength of 516 nm using quercetin as a reference solution. The percent yield value of watermelon rind is 16.087% and watermelon seeds is 10.215%. The results of the IC50 value of the quercetin comparator are strong antioxidants because they have an IC50 value <50, namely 15,899 µg/mL, while watermelon rind is a strong antioxidant because it has an IC50 value between 50-100 µg/mL, namely 50,003 µg/, and watermelon rind includes strong antioxidant because it has an IC50 value between 50-100 µg/mL, namely 79.321 µg/mL.

Abstract

Hipertensi merupakan suatu kondisi tekanan darah meningkat dimana tekanan darah sistolik lebih dari 140 mmgH dan tekanan darah diastolik lebih dari 90mmgH. Apabila tidak ditangan dapat menimbulkan berbagai komplikasi penyakit seperti penyakit jantung, gagal ginjal, stroke, bahkan kematian. Terapi secara farmakologi dengan menggunakan obat antihipertensi memiliki efek samping yang lebih serius dan jika pengobatannya tidak sesuai akan menimbulakn penyakit lainnya. Sekitar 75-80% populasi dunia telah banyak menggunakan obat herbal untuk menjaga kesehatannya karena obat herbal reatif lebih sedikit memiliki efek samping. Tujuan dari review artikel ini adalah unuk mengetahui potensi kayu secang sebaga antihipertensi. Senyawa metabolit yang terkandung dalam kayu secang adalah polifenol seperti flavonoid dan tanin yang berfungsi sebagai antioksidan. Kayu secang termasuk dalam antioksidan yang sangat kuat dengan nilai IC50 yaitu 0,047 ug/ml. Antioksidan sangat berperan penting dalam menagkal radikal bebas sehingga tidak terjadi kerusakan sel.

Abstract

Avocado (Persea americana Mill.) is a plant that grows in most tropical and sub-tropical countries, one of which is in Indonesia. Avocado seeds (Persea americana Mill.) contain phytochemical compounds, one of which is tannin which has anti-inlammatory properties. This study aims to determine the levels of tannins in ethanol extract of avocado (Persea americana Mill.) seeds. The tannins in avocado seeds were extracted using the maceration method with 96% ethanol solvent. In the qualitative test and quantitative test, in the qualitative test using FeCl3 reagent and in the quantitative test the determination of tannin content in the ethanol extract of avocado seeds was measured using UV-Vis spectrophotometry at a wavelength of 770 nm with tannic acid as a comparison. The results showed that the average tannin content of the ethanol extract of avocado seeds at a concentration of 500 ppm was 69,237 mgTAE/g extract.

Abstract

Introduction : Simplicia and extracts are raw materials for making traditional medicines. One of the traditional medicines often used by the people of Polewali Mandar is bagore seeds (Caesalpinia crista). The purpose of this study was to find out how to make simplicia and bagore seed extract (EBB) and their yield values. Research method: laboratory experimental. Bagore seed simplicia is weighed for its wet weight and then made by drying. Dried simplicia is pollinated and given a container and label, before being stored or processed further. Furthermore, the simplicia powder was extracted by maceration method using 70% ethanol solvent for 3x24 hours at room temperature. The maserate is separated from the residue, and the residue is re-macerated until the solvent is clear. The maserate was evaporated with a rotary evaporator at 10°C below the boiling point of the solvent until the extract was concentrated, and evaporation was continued in a water bath at 60°C, until the extract was thick. Simplicia and extracts obtained were calculated for their respective yield values. The results of the study: the results of making simplicia obtained the yield value of 20% of bagore seeds, and the value of the macerated EBB yield was 13.66%. Conclusion: Methods of manufacture and yield values ​​of simplicia and extracts serve as a reference in the manufacture of pharmaceutical raw materials for scientifically approved traditional medicines.

Abstract

Jahe merupakan tanaman obat yang dimanfaatkan sebagai obat tradisional karena mengandung 6-gingerol, 6-shogol, zingerone, fenolat dan flavonoid yang berfungsi sebagai imunodulator, antioksidan, antiinflamasi, antipiretik dan analgesik. Khasiat dari jahe merah (Zingiber officinale Var. rubrum) yaitu dapat menjaga daya tahan tubuh, mengatasi asam urat dan meringankan sakit kepala. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui adanya kandungan flavonoid ekstrak etanol jahe merah (Zingiber officinale Var. rubrum) dan melakukan penetapan kadar flavonoid total. Senyawa flavonoid yang terkandung dalam jahe merah diekstraksi dengan metode maserasi menggunakan pelarut etanol 96%. Nilai persen rendamen yaitu 3,73%. Kemudian diukur dengan metode spektrofotometri UV-Vis menggunakan kuersetin p.a sebagai pembanding. Diperoleh panjang gelombang maksimum 433nm. Persamaan regresi kurva baku Y = 0,0538x – 0,1996, koefisien korelasi(r)= 0,994, Vx0= 3,265% dan kadar flavonoid yaitu 0,5633 mg QE/g ekstrak.

Abstract

Porang tuber (Amorphophallus oncophyllus) is a tuber plant belonging to the Araceae family and Monocotyledoneae class, has benefits as an antihyperglycemic, antihypertensive, antihyperlipidemic, antibacterial and antioxidant. Porang tubers contain several compounds such as terpenoids, flavonoids, alkaloids, saponins and tannins. This study aims to determine the potential antioxidant activity of the ethanol extract of porang tuber (Amorphophallus oncophyllus) using the DPPH free radical scavenging method. The extraction method used was ultrasonic with 96% ethanol solvent to obtain a viscous extract of 4.033 grams. The test was carried out quantitatively by measuring the absorbance at the maximum wavelength of 516 nm using a UV-Vis spectrophotometer with quercetin as a standard. The results showed that the regression value for the quercetin comparator was y = 3.1303x + 0.2292 with an R2 value = 0.9974 and an IC50 value of 15.899 (μg/mL) while the antioxidant activity of the ethanol extract of porang tuber (Amorphophallus oncophyllus) obtained a regression value of y = 0.5217x– 9.5416 with an R2 value = 0.9915 and an IC50 value of 114.129 (μg/mL). The results of this study indicate that the ethanol extract of Porang tuber (Amorphophallus oncophyllus) has an antioxidant effect in the moderate category.

Abstract

ABSTRACT An antioxidant test has been carried out to determine and obtain data on the antioxidant activity of porang leaves (Amorpophallus muelleri Blume). The antioxidant value was measured by the DPPH (1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhidrazyl) damping method. This test was carried out by adding 1 mL of the test solution with 4 mL of 40 ppm DPPH. The absorbance was measured with a UV-Vis spectrophotometer at a wavelength of 515 nm and the IC50 value was calculated based on the absorbance data. The calculation results show that there is antioxidant activity with an IC50 value of 411,162 μg/mL, which means that these results indicate moderate antioxidant activity, while quercetin as a comparison has very strong antioxidant activity with an IC50 value of 8,61 μg/mL. ABSTRAK Telah dilakukan uji antioksidan untuk menentukan dan memperoleh data aktivitas antioksidan daun porang (Amorpophallus muelleri Blume). Besarnya nilai antioksidan diukur dengan metode peredaman DPPH (1,1- difenil-2-pikrilhidrazil). Pengujian ini dilakukan dengan penambahan 1 mL larutan uji dengan 4 mL DPPH 40 ppm. Absorbansinya diukur dengan spektrofotometer UV-Vis pada panjang gelombang 515 nm dan nilai IC50 dihitung berdasarkan data absorbansi. Hasil perhitungan menunjukkan adanya aktivitas antioksidan dengan nilai IC50 sebesar 411,162 μg/mL yaitu hasil tersebut menunjukkan aktivitas antioksidan sedang, sedangkan kuersetin sebagai pembanding memiliki aktivitas antioksidan sangat kuat dengan nilai IC50 8,61 μg/mL . Abstract

Introduction : Burahol fruit (Stelecocharpus burahol) is classified as a drupa fruit with thick, fibrous flesh, in Indonesia the fruit is used by the daughters of the Yogyakarta and Surakarta palaces as a deodorant for body odor and bad breath. In order to be extracted, proper simplicia preparation techniques are needed. The purpose of this study is to compare the yield values and the duration of the burahol pulp extraction process based on the simplicia preparation method. Research methods is a laboratory experiment. The simplicia was prepared in two ways, namely the wet preparation method (wet simplicia/SB), and the simplicia drying method (dry simplicia/SK) from burahol fruit flesh (DBB). Extraction of each simplicia using ethanol solvent with maceration method. Each liquid macerate (SB and SK) was evaporated to obtain a thick extract, and the yield value was calculated.Research result : the yield value of DBB extract for SB was 11.72%, and SK was 23.408%. The time for DBB extraction by maceration for SB was longer with 9 times remaceration, while for SK it was 6 times remaceration. Conclusion: the yield value of the extract from SK is higher than that of SB

Abstract

Hipertensi merupakan peningkatan tekanan darah diatas normal yaitu lebih dari 140/90 mmHg. Apabila tidak ditangani dapat menyebabkan berbagai penyakit seperti penyakit jantung, stroke, gagal ginjal, bahkan kematian. Terapi dapat dilakukan secara farmakologi dan non farmakologi. Terapi farmakologi menggunakan obat antihipertensi dapat menimbulkan efek samping dalam penggunaan jangka waktu panjang. Adanya tren back to nature membuat penggunaan obat herbal menjadi meningkat karena efek samping relatif sedikit. Tujuan review artikel ini untuk mengetahui potensi kayu manis sebagai antihipertensi. Kandungan senyawa dalam kayu manis seperti flavonoid, tanin, dan kuersetin berfungsi sebagai antioksidan. Antioksidan kayu manis dengan metode DPPH memiliki nilai IC50 yaitu 0,055 µg/ml. Antioksidan berperan penting dalam menangkal radikal bebas.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Matoa (Pometia pinnata) is a plant belonging to the Sapindaceae family that spreads in the tropical country, including Indonesia. Almost all parts of the plant are utilized by the community including leaves, stem bark, fruit bark and roots which have potential as medicinal plants. Empirically, matoa leaves (Pometia pinnata) can be used as a medicine for fever, skin pain and swollen sprains. Matoa (Pometia pinnata) leaf cooking water can relieve hypertension. Matoa (Pometia pinnata) plants are known to contain flavonoid compounds. Where flavonoid compounds are reported to have antioxidant, antibacterial, antiallergic, antiviral, and anticancer activities. This study aims to determine the phytochemical compound group and determine the flavonoid content of matoa (Pometia pinnata) leaves from the Gowa Regency, South Sulawesi Province. The extract was obtained through maceration method with 96% ethanol solvent. After the thick extract was obtained, phytochemical screening test and determination of flavonoid content by UV-Vis spectrophotometry with quercetin as the standard. Based on the results of this study it can be concluded that matoa leaf extract (Pometia pinnata) contains a class of flavonoids, tanins, saponins, and triterpenoid compounds. Meanwhile, the results of the study showed that the total flavonoid content of matoa leaf extract (Pometia pinnata) at a wavelength of 430 nm was 15,884 mg QE/g extract or 1.588,4%.
