Abstract

This community service project aims to explore the potential of mbote (taro) as a value-added product to enhance economic resilience during the COVID-19 pandemic. The project focuses on transforming traditional mbote into mbote chips and improving the branding and marketing strategies of local sellers in Pabean Sedati Village, Sidoarjo Regency. Participatory Action Research (PAR) methodology was applied to assist sellers in developing unique packaging, creating brand identity, and utilizing online platforms for marketing. The results indicate that the innovation positively impacted product visibility, consumer engagement, and business sustainability despite the economic challenges posed by the pandemic. The project demonstrates the effectiveness of small-scale innovations in enhancing the market competitiveness of local agricultural products and provides a model for rural entrepreneurship during crisis periods.

Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic has created unprecedented challenges, prompting the need for alternative methods to enhance immunity. This community service project aimed to educate the residents of Tambak Rejo Village on preparing herbal remedies (Jamu Herbal Lockdown) using local spices. This service learning approach empowered the community to utilize natural resources, improving both their immunity and knowledge about herbal health. Through hands-on training, the community members learned the process of making effective herbal drinks to prevent COVID-19 transmission and promote well-being. The expected outcome is a self-sufficient community capable of continuing this practice for future health challenges.

Abstract

This community service project aimed to empower the Sedati, Sidoarjo community by producing eco-friendly liquid hand soap using local ingredients, specifically "daun sirih" (betel leaves). With the ongoing challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, the project utilized a service-learning approach to educate local residents on sustainable soap production as part of the new normal. The activities included training on the benefits and production of hand soap from natural, environmentally friendly materials. The project not only contributed to public health efforts but also provided a low-cost, locally sourced alternative to commercial hand sanitizers. The participants, primarily housewives, gained new skills and knowledge in soap production, thereby increasing their awareness of eco-friendly practices and contributing to community resilience.

Abstract

This study examines the implementation of the Cash-for-Work (CFW) program in routine bridge maintenance projects along the Surabaya-Gresik-Sadang road section. The primary objective of the program is to provide employment opportunities for individuals affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, particularly unemployed, low-income, and displaced workers. The program aims to contribute to national economic recovery by enhancing the purchasing power of the local community while ensuring the maintenance and improvement of public infrastructure. Through a participatory action research approach, this project engaged the local population in community-driven maintenance work, thus reducing unemployment and promoting sustainable economic development. The findings highlight the program's success in creating local employment, improving infrastructure, and alleviating the economic challenges faced by the community due to the pandemic

Abstract

This community service program aimed to enhance the marketing and economic potential of the Udeng handicraft business in Munung Village, Jatikalen District, Nganjuk Regency. Using the Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD) approach, the project focused on empowering local entrepreneurs by introducing digital marketing strategies, including social media and online shopping platforms. The initiative resulted in increased product sales, with Udeng handicrafts moving from 20 pieces per week to over 40 pieces per week, through both online and offline channels. This paper discusses the methodology, the community's participation, and the significant impact of digital innovation in boosting local businesses.
