Abstract

The purpose of this study is to identify the type and meaning of Sari Agung bridal make-up from Lumajang, East Java, which includes makeup and hairdo, and also clothing and accessories worn. This study is a descriptive study with qualitative approach. Data collection techniques using triangulation methods, which includes 1) interviews, 2) observation, and 3) documentation. Data sources in this study are senior bridal makeup artist in Lumajang, chairman of DPC Harpi Melati, and head of the Arts and Culture section of the Lumajang City Tourism Office. From the study results it is known that the Lamajang Sari Agung Bridal Makeup is a beautiful makeup, while the form of hair makeup is in the form of ˜ukel konde. Clothing and jewelry worn by the Lamajang Sari Agung bride; such as: jewelry made of silver; illustrates that Lumajang is a producer of silver crafts. The ˜dodot sinebab motives illustrate ˜pisang agung which is an icon of Lumajang. ˜Sekar manggis, ˜sulur pakis, etc describes natural wealth of Lumajang. Cinde fabric with empty palace motive describes the Lumajangs community belief that humans are born empty, carrying nothing.

Abstract

Traditional body scrub is a beneficial body care cosmetic preparation to clean the skin, remove dead skin cells, smooth skin, brighten skin and also provide skin nutrition, relax the body, improve and stimulate blood circulation to the body. This study aims to determine the effect of the carrots and jasmine flour proportion on the organoleptic properties of traditional body scrubs. This is an experimental study with the independent variable is the proportion of carrot and jasmine flour, while the dependent variable is the organoleptic nature which includes color, scent, texture, stickiness and panelist preferences.Data collection using observational form that include 30 participants. Data analysis using single variant analysis and and Duncan's continued test with SPSS version 16. Study results showed that the X2 product with a proportion of 10gr carrot flour, 5gr jasmine flour and 10 grams of rice flour was the best traditional body scrub product with cream color, scent of jasmine, quite rough texture and quite sticky when applied to body criteria. There is an interaction effect of the proportion of carrot flour and jasmine flour on traditional body scrub organoleptic properties which include color, aroma, texture and adhesion.Keywords : traditional body scrub, jasmine, carrot flour, organoleptic.

Abstract

Arabian bride's makeup has sharp and glamorous makeup characteristics. This study aims to describe the design and embodiment of makeup for modern Arab brides. The type of research method used is the type of qualitative descriptive method. The data collection methods used are interviews and observation. Data analysis techniques using the formula mean / average. The results showed: (1) The results became the embodiment of modern Arab bridal makeup in accordance with the designs that have been made with very good ratings. (2) The results of the embodiment of modern Arab bridal face makeup received good grades and were accepted by respondents. Keywords: characteristics of Arab brides; Arabian brides; Arabian makeup

Abstract

Dandruff is an excessive exfoliation of dead skin cells on the scalp. The effect of dandruff is itching and even inflammation, so it can interfere with concentration when doing activities. One of the many examples of the beauty world response to the dandruff problem is the emergence of products in the form of anti-dandruff shampoo on the market. The purpose of this study was to determine the results of the organoleptic hair tonic of ˜Averrhoa billimbi L extract. Organoleptic test results showed that H3 has the highest average value in the aspects of color, scent, homogeneity and impression on the skin. Keywords: hair tonic, organoleptic, starfruit

Abstract

Body masks are cosmetics that are used at the last stage in body care, which works to remove dead skin cells. Body masks consist of basic ingredients, active ingredients and other supplementary ingredients. In this research, a mixture of dragon fruit skin flour and cow's milk kefir flour is used as an ingredient for making body masks. Dragon's skin flour contains a variety of vitamins and the hormone melatonin which functions as an antioxidant and a better aging process for youth. This is an experimental research. Data on organoleptic properties of body mask products were collected using the observation method of 30 panelists. The data analysis technique used is the single ANOVA and Duncan advanced test. The results showed that 1) the proportion of dragon fruit peel flour and kefir flour (30%: 70%) was the best face mask product with the criteria of white color, smooth texture, flavored kefir, and sticky and tight. 2) There is a difference between the composition of dragon fruit skin flour and kefir in an organoleptic body mask. This is discussed by the results of color with P = 0.00 (<0.05) and F-count 97.474, Texture P = 0.00 (<0.05) and F-count 10.906, aroma P = 0.00 (<0.05) and F-count 105.034, adhesion to P = 0.00 (<0.05) and F-count 94.179. The results of the analysis concluded that the best body masks on the proportion of dragon fruit skin flour and kefir flour is 30 percent: 70 percent.Keywords: sensory; bodymask; dragon fruit; kefir

Abstract

Putri Jenggolo bridal makeup was created in 1985 where the groom wore udeng as a head cover. This study aimed to describe the development of udeng shape in Putri Jenggolo bridal makeup, describe the aesthetic of Pacul Gowang model on Putri Jenggolo bridal makeup, and find out the different forms of Pacul Gowang udeng and East Java udeng. This study used qualitative research approach. Data were collected using interview and documentation. The research setting was in Magersari, Wonoayu, Sidoarjo. The key informants were Sidoarjo culturist, Association of HARPI Melati in Sidoarjo, and the creator of udeng. The obtained data were analyzed using aesthetic analysis theory that included data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion. The results showed that, in 1985, the groom's makeup used a Surabaya-style udeng with Sidamukti motif which was later refined its top and made as Pacul Gowang shape, of which it was used as the bride-style udeng of Putri Jenggolo bride in Sidoarjo, East Java. This Pacul Gowang udeng had an aesthetic value from its look and message, especially the existing variety of Sidoarjo batik motifs. The batik motif had the meaning of fertility and peace, graceful and dignified, and firmness and courage. The details of Pacul Gowang udeng shape covering spiky bucen, blunt bucen, gowang head cover, udeng knot, 2 upright cungkup, nape cover, and Sidoarjo batik motifs became the distinguishing features of other East Java udeng models.Keywords: Bridal makeup, aesthetic, udeng, ornamental variety

Abstract

Flour-based clay are frequently used to create 3D figures, various handcrafts, along with a play and learning tool. Other than that, flour-based clay could also be an alternative material for accessory making. It is regularly made of corn starch, tapioca starch, rice flour, as well as white glue. To get the right dough consistency, finding out the accurate components and composition is needed. As a result, the finish product would be made into hair accessories. The technique used for making the hair accessory is wire wrapping. This research aims to find out the accurate dough components and composition, the ideal size of hair accessories, and wire-wrapped technique for accessory making. This research used literature review method, data are obtained from journals combined with articles that correlated with flour-based clay, hair accessories, including wire wrapping technique. Results from the data that has been obtained showed a good clay component consists of flour that contained amylose (tapioca flour, corn starch, et cetera), flour with higher amylopectin content for example waxy corn starch, waxy potato starch, and waxy rice starch, preservative, lubricant, white glue, and salt. The clay dough indicators are soft, pliant, non-sticky, low in viscosity, and resistant in retrogradation Based on the data, the ideal size of a hair accessory is 1:4 and one third from facial height. Jewelry making technique namely filigree and straw weaving could be applied for the purpose of making hair accessory.

Abstract

Hair dyeing has developed fast in which a dual application method with frosting technique is much favored by many teenagers. This study aimed to find out the result of hair dyeing using the dual application method with frosting technique on oily and dry hair types and reveal the comparison of the hair dyeing results that best matches the copper blonde color index between oily and dry hair types. This study used experimental research design with two groups. Group A was the oily hair type treated using oxidation cosmetics dye with copper blonde color while Group B got the same treatment but applied to the dry hair type. Data were collected using observation administered by 24 experts. The results of the study portrayed that the dual application method with frosting technique was way better applied for oily hair type than the dry hair one.

Abstract

Mimba or Azadirachta indica A. Juss. is a leaf type of shrub that is often used in religious purposes. This study was undertaken to describe the process of making mimba and lemon mask and determine the results of the application of the mask on acne prone skin. This study used qualitative descriptive research design. Data were collected using observation of the results of the mask application for ten women aged 20-30 years old. The study was conducted at Mandasari Surabaya beauty clinic. The results showed the making process of the traditional mask including the stages of washing, drying, making a powder, and mixing with lemon juice followed by application on acne face. After four weeks with twice treatments a week, the results showed that respondent's skin became smoother, moister, tighter, brighter, suppler, and cleaner with less acnes.

Abstract

Body scrub functions to lift bodys rough and dull skin cells. Coffee grounds with a coarse texture that contains scrub grains and antioxidant in large quantities can be used as a body scrub. This study aimed to determine the effect of the proportion of coffee grounds and curcuma on physical characteristics including aroma, color, time duration to remove scrubs, changes of the skin after being rubbed with the scrub product, the skin moisture, shelf life (microbiological test), and panelist preferences. This study used experimental research design. The independent variable was the proportion of coffee grounds and curcuma (2:3), (3:2), and (4:1). The dependent variables included aroma, color, time duration to remove scrubs, changes of the skin after being rubbed with the scrub product, the skin moisture, shelf life (microbiological test), and panelist preferences. Data were collected using observation performed by 50 panelists. The obtained data were analyzed using ANOVA and Duncan's test carried out using SPSS. Results showed that there was an effect of the proportion of coffee grounds and curcuma on the physical characteristics. The aroma produced jasmine smell, light yellowish black color, a change in skin color after using the scrub product, the skin became moister. The X2 sample was the best proportion of the body scrub favored by the panelists. In accordance with the microbiology test, X2 sample had a shelf life of more than 7 days with the amount of bacterial and fungal contamination below.
