Abstract

Rapid and unpredictable changes have positioned education within the VUCA era, characterized by volatility, uncertainty, complexity, and ambiguity. Islamic educational institutions are required to adapt to these changes while maintaining Islamic values and educational objectives. In this situation, leadership becomes a crucial factor in determining institutional resilience and competitiveness. This study aims to examine the role of visionary leadership in strengthening Islamic educational institutions in the VUCA era. This research uses a qualitative library research method by analyzing scientific journals, books, and relevant academic literature as the primary data sources. The study focuses on exploring the concept of visionary leadership and its implementation in Islamic educational institutions facing rapid social, technological, and educational transformation. The findings indicate that visionary leadership plays a strategic role in encouraging institutional adaptability and innovation. Visionary leaders are able to integrate Islamic values with digital transformation, promote technology-based learning, and strengthen organizational culture through collaboration and continuous improvement. In addition, visionary leadership contributes to the development of human resources by enhancing teacher professionalism, creativity, and collective commitment toward institutional goals. The study also reveals that Islamic educational institutions led by visionary leaders tend to be more responsive to educational disruption, more capable of maintaining institutional identity amid globalization, and more effective in creating sustainable educational innovation. Therefore, visionary leadership can be considered a transformative leadership model that is highly relevant for Islamic educational institutions in addressing the challenges of the VUCA era.

Abstract

This qualitative phenomenological study investigates how deep learning-based instructional strategies enhance teacher competence and student engagement in vocational English classrooms at SMK Muhammadiyah Batang. Four English teachers participated in in-depth interviews, classroom observations, and document analysis to explore their lived experiences in implementing Multimedia Teaching Modules (MTM) enriched with kearifan lokal (local wisdom). The modules integrated cultural elements such as traditional batik motifs, local tourism videos, and regional proverbs into vocabulary, speaking, and project-based learning activities. Findings reveal that teachers developed stronger pedagogical competence in designing contextually relevant and culturally responsive lessons. Students showed notable improvement in engagement indicators, including increased participation in discussions, higher on-time assignment submission rates, and enhanced language output in collaborative tasks. Comparative engagement data indicated a clear rise in active learning behaviors post-MTM integration. The cultural contextualization of materials fostered both a sense of identity and greater motivation among learners, making lessons more meaningful and relatable. The discussion situates these findings within the broader framework of deep learning pedagogy, emphasizing its capacity to connect cognitive skills with socio-cultural relevance in vocational education. The study concludes that combining deep learning principles with multimedia and local wisdom can bridge the gap between curriculum objectives and real-world communicative needs in vocational contexts. Recommendations include ongoing teacher training in culturally grounded digital pedagogy and fostering professional learning communities to sustain innovation in English language teaching.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of vocational education in fostering students' entrepreneurial spirit in the economics field. The problem in this study is the persistently low interest and readiness of students to become entrepreneurs despite having received entrepreneurship education at university. The study used a quantitative approach with a survey method of 80 economics students who had taken vocational learning and entrepreneurship courses. Data collection was conducted through a questionnaire using a Likert scale, while data analysis used simple linear regression with the assistance of SPSS. The results showed that vocational education has a positive and significant effect on students' entrepreneurial spirit. This is evidenced by the t-test results, which obtained a calculated t-value of 8.742, greater than the t-table of 1.984, with a significance value of 0.000 <0.05. Furthermore, the coefficient of determination (R²) of 0.624 indicates that vocational education contributed 62.4% to the increase in students' entrepreneurial spirit, with the remainder influenced by other factors outside the study. Research findings indicate that practice-based learning, internships, and entrepreneurship training can increase students' creativity, self-confidence, and courage in starting a business.

Abstract

Regional economic development is one of the main priorities in improving the welfare of Indonesian society. One method considered effective in achieving this goal is the advancement of entrepreneurship and Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). Medan Selayang is one of the regions experiencing growth in the entrepreneurship and MSME sectors. This study aims to analyze financial management and financing patterns in supporting the development of entrepreneurship and Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Medan Selayang District. MSMEs play a strategic role in the regional economy; however, they still face various challenges, particularly in financial management and access to financing sources. This study employed a qualitative descriptive approach with data collection techniques conducted through interviews, observations, and documentation involving MSME actors in Medan Selayang. The results of the study indicate that most MSME actors still apply simple financial management practices, have not clearly separated business finances from personal finances, and lack proper financial report recording. In terms of financing, MSME actors rely more on personal capital and informal loans rather than formal financial institutions due to limited financial literacy, collateral constraints, and administrative procedures. This study emphasizes the importance of improving financial management literacy, business assistance, and expanding inclusive access to financing in order to encourage entrepreneurial growth and the sustainability of MSMEs in Medan Selayang. The findings of this study are expected to provide recommendations for policy development that supports entrepreneurship and MSMEs at the local level, particularly in Medan Selayang.

Abstract

Character education has become increasingly important in addressing issues related to students’ ethics and politeness in elementary schools. While many studies have examined Pancasila-based character education, limited research has specifically focused on its role in shaping students’ ethics and courtesy in a particular school context. This study aimed to analyze the implementation of Pancasila-based character values in shaping the ethical behavior and politeness of sixth-grade students at HKBP Maranatha Elementary School, Medan City. This study employed a quantitative survey method. The participants consisted of all 16 sixth-grade students, representing a school-based case study within a single class. Data were collected using a questionnaire containing 13 statements related to ethics and politeness and were analyzed using percentage analysis. The results showed that the implementation of Pancasila-based character values generally produced positive outcomes. Most students demonstrated tolerance, cooperation, and openness to criticism. A total of 81.25% of students often respected differences in religion, ethnicity, and family background, while 56.25% often helped classmates experiencing learning difficulties. Furthermore, 62.5% showed openness to criticism and suggestions. However, some aspects still require improvement, particularly self-control and empathy, as 62.5% of students admitted that they sometimes used harsh language while joking with friends. In conclusion, Pancasila-based character values play an important role in fostering students’ ethics and courtesy. Continuous character development is needed to strengthen empathy, self-control, and polite communication among students.

Abstract

This study was conducted to gain a deeper and more realistic understanding of how fifth-grade students at SDN 066053 comprehend Pancasila learning and how far they are able to apply its values in their daily lives. In practice, learning Pancasila is often limited to memorizing concepts, even though its main purpose is to shape students’ attitudes, habits, and character. Therefore, it becomes important to look not only at students’ knowledge, but also at how they behave in real-life situations. This research used a descriptive quantitative approach by distributing a questionnaire to 20 students. The instrument consisted of 10 statements that were designed to explore students’ understanding, attitudes, and daily behavior related to Pancasila values. The data collected were then analyzed using percentage calculations so that the results could be presented in a simple and easy-to-understand way, while still reflecting the actual condition in the classroom. The results show that most students already have a fairly good understanding of Pancasila learning. However, when it comes to applying these values in everyday situations, some students are still inconsistent. This indicates that understanding alone is not enough, and students need more guidance, examples, and practice so that these values can truly become part of their daily behavior.
