Abstract

The purpose of writing this article is to describe the role of information technology in education. Through education, especially for facilitators in the form of teachers, of course, they are given more burdens and obligations to carry out teaching and learning activities along with following increasingly rapid technological developments so that they are not left far behind. Especially at this time, the prospective young generation in the form of students is no strangers to using and accessing technological facilities that are very developed at this time. This type of research is a literature review. The literature review is a method used to describe a finding or theory as further research material that is obtained and used as a reference or basis for an activity in the preparation of a framework of thinking and also taken from the formulation of relevant problems. This method is quite systematic and explicit because it is carried out by identifying, evaluating, and synthesizing a work of research results and ideas that have been previously carried out by researchers and practitioners. In line with advances in information technology, many activities can be carried out using information technology networks. Information technology can be used as a good source of learning because information technology can access various learning resources in the form of writing, images, videos, sounds, and software, all of which can be downloaded and stored so that distance learning is also possible.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the improvement of student engagement and participation in teaching and learning activities through the implementation of the demonstration method assisted by video media in the subject of Information and Communication Technology (ICT). The research was conducted on eleventh-grade students of SMA Nasrani 3 Medan. The method used is Classroom Action Research (CAR), which was carried out in two cycles. Each cycle consisted of four stages: (1) Planning, (2) Action Implementation, (3) Observation, and (4) Reflection. Video media was used as a supporting tool in practicum activities to provide more concrete visualizations of the material being taught. The results showed a significant increase in students' learning activity in each cycle. Students became more enthusiastic, focused, and actively involved in the learning process, especially during practical sessions. These findings indicate that the application of the demonstration method supported by video media can be an effective strategy to enhance student participation in ICT learning.

Abstract

The aim of this study is to improve student achievement through the implementation of a problem-based learning model assisted by PowerPoint media among Grade X students of SMA 3 Nasrani Medan. This research employs a classroom action research (CAR) method, which consists of two cycles, each with four stages: planning, action, observation, and reflection. The subjects of the study were 21 students from a Grade X class. Data collection techniques included observation, interviews, tests, and documentation, while data were analyzed using descriptive analysis. The results showed a classical improvement in student achievement. In the pre-cycle stage (before treatment), the average student achievement was 60%. In Cycle I, using the lecture method, it increased to 65%, and in Cycle II, with the implementation of problem-based learning assisted by PowerPoint, it rose significantly to 80%. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that the use of a problem-based learning model assisted by PowerPoint media in the first semester can effectively improve student achievement, particularly in learning software-related materials.

Abstract

This study aims to improve students' learning outcomes in Information and Communication Technology (ICT) through the Picture and Picture learning model. The subjects of this classroom action research were 21 tenth-grade students of SMA Nasrani 3 Medan as recipients of the action, the ICT teacher as the implementer, a peer teacher as the observer, and the school principal as a data source. Data were collected through tests, observation, and documentation. The research was conducted in two cycles, each consisting of planning, action, observation, and reflection stages. The results showed that the application of the Picture and Picture model effectively improved students' ICT learning outcomes. This is evidenced by the increase in the average score from 70.88 before the action to 74.80 in the first cycle and 85.37 in the second cycle. In addition, the percentage of students achieving learning mastery increased from 34.28% before the action to 74.80% in the first cycle and 94.28% in the second cycle. The findings indicate that the Picture and Picture model encourages students to think more critically and engage more actively in solving learning problems.

Abstract

Classroom Action Research (CAR) is conducted to address learning issues. A professional teacher must be able to apply various teaching models and learning media. The majority of students consider Civic Education to be the most boring subject. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the success of Classroom Action Research conducted by Civic Education teachers. This research employs a qualitative method. Data collection is carried out through observation, interviews, documentation, and literature review. The results of this study indicate that Civic Education teachers who implemented Classroom Action Research successfully addressed learning issues, such as low student motivation and performance, while also demonstrating that Classroom Action Research is a concrete solution to learning problems, particularly in Civic Education. The data collection included observations, questionnaires, and trials. In this study, the subjects were 15 eighth-grade students and 1 Civic Education teacher, with the assistance of the Problem-Based Learning model. The results show that the implementation of the Problem-Based Learning model effectively improved students' understanding in Civic Education lessons. Prior to using the Problem-Based Learning model, the average score was 47.8, and after its implementation, students' average scores improved to 75.4.
