Abstract

Corpus linguistics has emerged as a powerful framework for analyzing authentic language use, shaping both theoretical and applied linguistics. Grounded in Rogers’ Diffusion of Innovations Theory (Rogers, 2003)[1], this study views corpus-based pedagogy as an educational innovation whose adoption varies across contexts. While globally corpus research has gained momentum in English language teaching and teacher training, its application in Indonesia remains modest and underexplored. This study aims to map the publication trends, thematic clusters, and collaboration networks in corpus-based educational research from both global and Indonesian perspectives using a bibliometric approach. It employed a bibliometric research design using the Scopus database to map publication trends, thematic clusters, and collaboration networks in corpus-based educational research. Data covering 1990-2024 were analyzed through VOS viewer, focusing on co-authorship, co-citation, and keyword co-occurrence to identify global trajectories and Indonesian contributions. The analysis of 810 publications revealed rapid global growth after 2010, with peaks in 2023, particularly in areas such as vocabulary acquisition, grammar instruction, and discourse analysis. Corpus linguistics remains the central theme, branching into sub-fields like data-driven learning (DDL), academic writing, and second language acquisition. In contrast, Indonesian contributions were limited to four Scopus-indexed articles up to 2025, largely descriptive and with minimal pedagogical focus. Corpus-based research has become central in global applied linguistics but is still at an early adoption stage in Indonesia. The disparity highlights infrastructural, awareness, and visibility gaps. Stronger institutional support, integration into teacher education, and classroom-based research are essential for Indonesia to align with global trends.

Abstract

This study investigates the transformation of higher education in Europe through the integration of digital learning, research innovation, and global collaboration. Using a mixed-methods approach, quantitative data were collected from 120 respondents across 20 higher education institutions, while qualitative insights were obtained from 30 semi-structured interviews. The quantitative data were analyzed using SPSS 27, and the qualitative data were coded and thematically examined with NVivo 12. The SPSS analysis revealed that digital learning accessibility (M = 4.45, SD = 0.52) and student engagement (M = 4.32, SD = 0.48) strongly correlate with innovation in teaching and research (r = .68, p < .01) and global collaboration (r = .74, p < .01). These findings indicate that institutions with advanced digital infrastructure and strong engagement strategies are more likely to participate in cross-border academic networks and interdisciplinary research. The NVivo 12 thematic analysis identified five major themes: (1) digital transformation in learning, (2) research innovation, (3) global collaboration, (4) institutional support, and (5) challenges of digital equity. Participants emphasized that digitalization has expanded access, improved pedagogical innovation, and strengthened global partnerships, though disparities in technological readiness remain across institutions. The integration of both analyses confirms that Europe’s higher education system is undergoing a holistic transformation technological, pedagogical, and institutional toward a globally connected and inclusive digital education ecosystem. These results underscore the importance of sustained digital investment and policy alignment to ensure equitable participation in global higher education.

Abstract

This study investigates how machine learning (ML) is transforming higher education in China through pedagogical, institutional, and ethical dimensions. Using a convergent mixed-methods design, data were collected from 45 participants, including university administrators, lecturers, and students from leading institutions across Beijing, Shanghai, and Guangzhou. Quantitative data were analyzed using SPSS 27, yielding strong correlations between perceived usefulness (r = .69, p < .01), institutional support (r = .71, p < .01), and teaching effectiveness, while ethical concerns were negatively correlated (r = –.53, p < .01). Regression analysis (R² = .68, F (3,41) = 9.72, p < .001) identified institutional support (? = .47, p < .001) as the strongest predictor of ML’s perceived impact. Qualitative data analyzed with NVivo 12 revealed three major themes: enhanced teaching and research efficiency, data-driven decision-making, and ethical challenges including data privacy and algorithmic bias. Document analysis confirmed that national policies, such as the AI-in-Education Action Framework (2022), have accelerated ML integration but highlighted regional disparities and governance gaps. The study concludes that ML serves as a catalyst for innovation in Chinese higher education, fostering personalized learning, predictive analytics, and institutional modernization. However, its sustainability depends on human-centered governance, equitable access, and continuous faculty development. This research contributes to the growing body of evidence that ML’s success in academia is determined not merely by technological capability, but by ethical stewardship, institutional readiness, and inclusive implementation.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the use of Abacus media in mathematics learning and analyze its influence on the attractiveness and learning motivation of students. This study uses a qualitative descriptive method with 22 research subjects in class V in the 2025/2026 school year. Data was collected through observation, interviews, learning outcome tests, and documentation, then analyzed in a qualitative descriptive manner with reduction steps, data presentation, and conclusion drawn. The results of the study show that the application of Abacus media in mathematics learning can increase students' interest, motivation, and active participation. Prior to the use of Abacus, most students lacked enthusiasm, were passive, and had difficulty understanding the concept of place values as well as basic calculation operations. However, after applying learning with Abacus, students become more enthusiastic, actively ask questions, dare to try, and can understand the material more easily. The average score of learning outcomes increased from 68.5 to 83.5, with classical completeness reaching 90%, and the level of learning activity increased from 60% to 88%. Thus, the use of Abacus media has proven to be effective in bridging abstract mathematical concepts into concrete, as well as creating a more interesting, fun, and motivating learning atmosphere for students to actively learn.

Abstract

The paradigm shift in 21st-century education demands a leadership transformation that is not merely administrative but also adaptive. This study aims to explore the role of principals as adaptive leaders in enhancing school community collaboration through empathy-based problem-solving strategies and a humanistic approach. Utilizing a qualitative method with a multi-site case study design, data were collected through in-depth interviews, participant observation, and documentation studies at two Catholic Elementary Schools in Malang. The findings indicate that principals successfully integrate their roles as leaders, motivators, and facilitators by leveraging effective interpersonal communication, both formally and informally. This approach is proven to create a harmonious work atmosphere, increase inclusivity, and strengthen the loyalty of the school community in facing educational disruptions. The novelty of this research lies in the integration of "compassion" (Christian humanism) into the adaptive leadership framework, which transforms management strategies into personal moral actions. This research provides a practical contribution to the development of educational leadership models that are responsive to global dynamics without losing the institutional value identity.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of the Communicative Language Teaching (CLT) approach, integrated with flashcards based on the culture of Islamic boarding schools, in improving the English speaking skills of tenth-grade students at MA Bustanul Ulum. This study was motivated by the high levels of language anxiety and the lack of contextual learning materials that align with the daily lives of students in boarding schools. This study employed a Classroom Action Research (CAR) design following the Kemmis and McTaggart model across two cycles, involving 16 students selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected via speaking tests, observation sheets, and field notes, and analyzed using descriptive-comparative techniques. The results showed a significant improvement in students’ speaking performance; the class average score increased from 56.5 in the pre-intervention phase to 73.6 in Cycle I and reached 85.4 in Cycle II. Additionally, the percentage of students meeting the learning standards surged from 0% to 100% by the end of the second cycle. The integration of local wisdom into visual media has been shown to reduce psychological barriers and increase students’ active participation. This study implies that contextualizing learning materials with students’ cultural identities is a key factor in the success of EFL teaching in a pesantren environment

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the use of youth slang as a communication strategy in TikTok Live marketing and its implications for English language learning. The development of social media has influenced language use, especially among the younger generation, who tend to use informal and dynamic language in digital communication. TikTok Live, as an interactive platform, allows hosts to communicate directly with audiences, making language an important tool for building engagement and persuasive communication, particularly in the promotion of fashion and beauty products. This study used a qualitative approach with a case study method involving ten TikTok Live hosts from various brands and online stores. Data collection techniques were carried out through observation, interviews, and documentation, then analyzed using qualitative descriptive analysis. The results showed that youth slang was used strategically to increase audience engagement, create relaxed and friendly communication, and adapt communication styles to the characteristics of the audience, which is predominantly the younger generation. In addition, the use of slang helped reduce social distance between hosts and viewers and strengthened interaction during the live session. The research findings also showed that digital language practices differ from formal language taught in the classroom, so that the integration of digital language in learning can improve sociolinguistic awareness and students' communication competence in English learning.
