Jurnal Ilmu Kesejahteraan Sosial or Journal of Social Welfare (JIKS) is an academic journal on social welfare issues. JIKS invites academia and practitioners to send their articles to contribute their research and experiences in social welfare. A research article should be from original research and assess its contribution to social welfare. The conceptual study focuses on the empirical development of theory or concept in social welfare issues. The article can discuss theories and concepts based on themes and intervention levels. Abstract

To be able to realize child welfare, the family, society and the government should pay attention to the rights and needs of children. To ensure the psychological dan social development, children need love, understanding, recreational atmosphere, creative stimulation, self-actualization, and intellectual development. Therefore they require early socialization and basic education, the teaching of social responsibility, social roles and basic skills in order to become useful citizens. Children from poor families are often raised with parenting less conducive to their growth and development. One of the efforts undertaken is through communication training for mothers from poor families. Through this training the parents are expected to create an atmosphere conducive to the development of children.

Abstract

Woman is an adequate partner to microfinance because not only assisting women but also their families and society. There’re some challenges and constraints faced by women related to microenterprises such as norm, cultural, mobility, lameness gender, work without “payment" in household, high number of illiterate, etc. Some characteristics of microenterprises managed by women: Informal; Home-based business; Concentration on low return sectors; Oriented on conservative growth; Part-Time and depend on season; and Lac of technology. Abstract

There are relationship between environmental issues and other issues that enclose to the human life. There are two dimensions of Environmental contex, namely: physical spatial context and social context. In fact, anthropogenic activities have serious impacts to the damage of the environment. The relation between environmental issues and poverty is very complex. The World Bank identified three main relations between the degradation of environmental condition and the living condition of poor people, namely: the environmental health, the livelihoods of poor people,and the vulnerability of people living below poverty line.

Abstract

Economic empowering is the most popular program that applied to alleviate the poverty. Giving a capital to develop a small enterprise is becoming one of the most important issues that is need more attention. This issue concerning how the receivers could manage a number of capitals, because small enterprise management correlates with the outcome of the program that is to develop an entrepreneurship. From this outcome will be get that the receivers who come from the poor community are improving their family income successfully.

Abstract

The aim of this article is overspread the information in the subject of sexual harassment. In this article, there are explanations about the understanding of sexual harassment, the classification of variety of sexual harassment, the causes of sexual harassment, the prevention of sexual harassment, and problems of mental health psychology that is caused by sexual harassment. The expectation of this article is to improve the understanding of sexual harassment, there for it can alleviate the violence to women.

Abstract

In the end of 90’s, the circulation of mass media tend to more and more presenting women as an object of fascination to increase the amount sales. The appearance of women models in some national tabloids seem to be abundant and interrupt the society’s ethics and moral value. In the other hand, the tabloid is easy to get and sold cheaply. There are two opinions that concerning of the understanding of exploitation, First, There is no exploitation to the women in mass media, because women models do not feel exploited. It is undeniable that almost 80% women models in tabloid are prostitutes. Second, there are exploitations to women in mass media, because there are manipulations and exploitations by irresponsible publisher to increase their benefits, such as undesirable uploaded photos, publicizing photos without model permission, inappropriate salary or even they do not get any compensation at all. Abstract

This research is a study summative evaluation PUK Strengthening Program in Solo with a quantitative approach. The goal is to measure outcome indicators and analyzes the factors that influence the achievement of outcomes based on aspects of the process and input. The analysis was done by means of univariate and bivariate with cross table, Chi Square and Kendall Tau. The results showed that the outcome indicators has not been achieved. Factors that influence the outcome of the process aspect are ability to identify and solve problems, quality of production, volume of business, business innovation, profit exhibitions, as well as participation in training. Input factors affecting outcome that is age and education of respondents.

Abstract

Adolescent’s sexual behavior can be controlled to be inactive by providing sexual education to them. From 215 adolescenst,63.3% seldom receive sexual education from their parent. There’s 76.7% respondents get sexual education through peer group. 68.8% respondent admits that receive frequent sexual education through mass media. There’re 77.7% respondents are sexually inactive. Liveliness depends on various activities and also its intensity. There’re 22.3% respondents never having courtship. 3.3% respondents, who have motived in courtship, have sexual activity before married. Abstract

Emotional quotient determine worker’s efficacy, because it could guide the worker’s motivation in their work. Emotional quotient could guide the worker for their maximal performance, learning new skill, working with team, adaptation for changes, challenge and stress. Without emotional quotient the worker will hard to manage his emotion and relation with their colleagues. Through understanding about emotional quotient the worker could improve their ability in learning and developing their relation between their colleagues. Some experts have studied about emotional quotient, they are: Daniel Goleman, an expert in academic psychologist who explained that, emotional quotient has two competences, which is personal competence and social competence. Cooper and Sawaf mention that emotional quotient is an individual ability which is divided into four abilities, namely: emotional literacy, emotional fitness, emotional depth, and emotional alchemy. That Bahaudin, an expert in human resource management, explains a concept of human resource development named Brainware Management, this concept used emotional quotient as a measurement in efficacy of worker in their work. Bahaudin also divided emotional quotient into two competences, namely: intrapersonal and interpersonal skills.

Abstract

The Health condition has been recognized as one of the indicators of the welfare condition in one community. In relation to that assumption, this article will describe the condition of mother and children in such areas in Indonesia which related to the Official Development Assisstance (ODA) programme which had been introduced by the Japan International Cooperation Agency. The Maternal and Child Health (MCH) handbook programme had been undertaken for about 10 years and has shown different results in many different areas in Indonesia. This article will show the effect of the MCH handbook programme to the mother’s child health behaviour in one village in Indonesia. The village was chosen because of their involvement in the MCH handbook programme for about the last 9 years.
