Abstract

The practice of female circumcision continues to provoke complex debates, intersecting the domains of Islamic law, medical ethics, and cultural traditions. This article critically examines the practice by exploring the diverse interpretations of Islamic legal texts regarding female circumcision and medical perspective. Abstract

This article aims to describe the complex role of Gaza women journalists who are on the frontline of the conflict, serving three roles at once: as mothers, journalists and citizens. As mothers, they struggle to protect their children amidst the violence that continues to threaten them. As journalists, they carry the professional responsibility to voice the truth and convey the reality of war that is often ignored by the world. As Palestinian citizens, they defend their rights to their homeland and collective identity. These three roles not only intersect, but also strengthen each other in a humanitarian struggle that touches personal, professional and national aspects. Using a gender perspective and literature study method, the researcher explored media news and found that Gazan women journalists do not experience gender discrimination and cover conflict areas like male journalists. However, female journalists experience dilemmas and higher mental burdens carrying out three roles at once as mothers, journalists, and citizens.

Abstract

This study examines the use of Qirā’ah Mubādalah in understanding Surah An-Nisa’ verse 34 as an approach to addressing the issue of toxic masculinity. Through the Mubādalah perspective, which emphasizes reciprocity in the relationship between men and women, the study also refers to a supporting verse, An-Nisa’ verse 28, which indicates that men, like women, possess human traits that can involve weaknesses and limitations. This research highlights the concept of mutuality in gender relations and the importance of interpretive approaches that promote justice and equality. The research employs a qualitative approach with thematic interpretation (tafsir maudhu'i), analyzing primary sources from the Qur’an, classical and contemporary tafsir works, academic journals on gender, and masculinity references. The findings reveal that Qirā’ah Mubādalah offers a new paradigm for understanding qiwāmah as a shared and flexible responsibility, rather than absolute dominance. This approach is effective in deconstructing gender hierarchies, reducing the pressures of toxic masculinity, and building an egalitarian and cooperative family model. The study’s contribution lies in developing a progressive interpretation of the concept of qiwāmah that fosters substantive justice. However, its limitations include a focus on textual analysis and the need for further studies to examine practical implementation.

Abstract

This study explores the concept of inclusive parenting in Islam through the lens of the father-child relationship in the Korean drama Perfect Family. The academic problem addressed is the lack of intersection between Islamic teachings on family dynamics and contemporary media portrayals, specifically in non-Western contexts. This research is distinct in its application of Islamic perspectives to analyze a popular Korean drama, providing an original approach compared to existing literature focused primarily on Western family models. Using qualitative content analysis, this study examines how inclusive parenting is portrayed, emphasizing mutual respect, empathy, and education within the family. The findings highlight the importance of inclusive parenting in Islamic thought and its representation in modern media. Future research could further explore the comparative analysis of Islamic parenting models in global media, including Western contexts.

Abstract

Abstract

Indonesia is a democratic country that respects fundamental human rights in its constitution. The fact is that the number of women's representation in the House of Representatives is relatively low. This is proven by the length of time it took to obtain agreement on the legislative process for the Draft Law on Justice and Gender Equality that had been submitted by the Regional Representative Council since 2015. This study uses a qualitative approach. The data collection method used by the author is library research. The results of the study show that there are several factors that lead to a lack of women's participation in politics in Indonesia, namely the proliferation of patriarchal culture, the existence of a fanatical attitude towards the opinions of classical scholars regarding the impossibility of women entering the realm of politics, and an internal factor from most women who think that politics is dirty, cruel, and full of tricks. Some of the solutions taken include cadre of women, especially female students, regarding the importance of community organizations regardless of their scope. By providing an understanding of the importance of organization in all spheres, after developing later these female students will realize how important it is to enter into political organizations and sit in political positions in order to prioritize women's rights and fight for the country.

Abstract

Loneliness is an emotional condition that negatively impacts psychological well-being, particularly among housewives who often experience limited social interaction. This study aims to identify the causes of loneliness and explore the application of self-compassion as a strategy to alleviate it, focusing on housewives in Hakim Wih Ilang Village, Bandar District, Bener Meriah Regency. A descriptive qualitative approach was used, with data collection involving in-depth interviews and observations of seven key informants, all of whom are widows. The results show that loneliness among housewives is influenced by feelings of isolation, a lack of emotional closeness, minimal social support, and the burden of responsibilities. Self-compassion was applied through practices such as self-acceptance, kindness toward oneself, recognizing that suffering is part of the human experience, and mindfulness. The improvement of self-compassion is facilitated through self-reflection, religious activities, and community support. The findings suggest that strengthening self-compassion, particularly through an Islamic counseling approach, is crucial in supporting the mental health of housewives in rural areas. Additionally, the study highlights the importance of community-based empowerment programs to enhance the psychological resilience of housewives, particularly in fostering a supportive environment for their well-being.

Abstract

This article aims to examine the phenomenon of sexual violence that is currently prevalent in society, with a focus on the interpretation of Quranic verses related to this issue. The research employs a qualitative approach through a literature review, aiming to understand the meaning of sexual violence in the Quran and identify the factors influencing it. The findings indicate that one of the main factors contributing to sexual violence is the imbalance in power relations, superiority, and gender inequality. Zainab Al-Ghazali's interpretation of QS. Al-Baqarah 223 reveals the view that women are highly valuable and noble, likened to a field where life grows (maudi'ul walad). Based on these findings, the study recommends the need for a gender justice-based approach in understanding Quranic verses to support the prevention of sexual violence and raise awareness of the importance of respecting women's rights in society.
