Abstract

The study aimed to examine the effect of passion fruit hulls flour fermented with Phanerochaete chrysosporium on the physical and chemical feed quality. Research conducted  at the Laboratory of Animal Breeding and Reproduction, in June-July 2015. This research used a Factorial Completely Randomized Design (CRD). The treatment consisted of 2 factors : dose inokulum (104 CFU/g, 106 CFU/g) and fermentation duration (0;7;14 dan 21 days). Parameters studied were bulk density, compacted bulk density, specific gravity, crude protein and crude fiber content. The result showed that the factor of fermentation duration had significantly different (P<0,05) on the bulk density and the compacted bulk density. The factors dose and the day duration gives highly significantly different (P<0,01) on crude protein and crude fiber content. While the interaction between dose and  fermentation duration is only found in a bulk density and crude protein content. The conclusion of this study that the best dose is 106 CFU/g with duration 14 days to ferment passion fruit hulls by Phanerochaete chrysosporium . Abstract

ABSTRACT This research was conducted at the Laboratory of Biologi Ternak, University of Sumatra Utara on June 2014 until August 2014. This study aims to determine the effect of utilization fermented coffee pulp to dry matter and organic matter. This study used 20 male rex rabbits with average weight 913.05 g ± 60.49 g. The design used a completely randomized design (CRD) with 4 treatments and 5 replications. The treatments were diet containing fermented : non-fermented coffee pulp with ratio on treatment P0 (0%: 30%); P1 (10%: 20%); P2 (20%: 10%); and P3 (30%: 0%). The variable were observed that Dry Matter Digestibility (DMD) and Organic Matter Digestibility (OMD). The results showed that the average dry matter digestibility (%) on treatment P0, P1, P2, and P3 were 59.70; 59.75; 59.74; and 59.89, repectively, while the average organic matter digestibility (%) 61.28; 61.40; 61.31; and 61.50, respectively. The result statistical analysis indicated that treatment were not significant affect (P>0.05) on Dry Matter Digestibility (DMD) and Organic Matter Digestibility (OMD). The conclusion of this study is fermented LMO (local micro organisme) has not significant effect on digestibility on rex rabbit. Abstract

ABSTRACT The research aimed was to determine the level of Biomol+ on oil palm frond in feed base on waste of palm oil plantations on local male sheeps fattening. This research was conducted at the Laboratory of Animal Biology, Animal Science Studied Program, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Sumatera Utara  from November 2013 until February 2014. This research using completely randomized design(CRD) consists of 4 treatments (P0 = 0% Biomol+; P1 = 5% Biomol+; P2 = 10% Biomol+ and P3 = 15% Biomol+) and 3 replications with the average of body weight 6,82  ±  0,42 kg. The results showed that feed intake, average daily gain and  feed conversion ratio (FCR) was highly significant influenced by level Biomol+. Increasing level of Biomol+ increased feed intake, average daily gain and improved  feed conversion ratio (FCR). The research conclusion is the level Biomol+ 15%  show best result base on feed intake, average daily gain feed conversion for male local sheeps fattening. Abstract

ABSTRACT The land use change and climate limit the availability of forage, which is the principal for feed ruminants. Purpose of this study to analyzes thepotential of harvestfood crops by productas a source ofalternative forbuffaloesfeedinPakpakBharat. The method used was survey mothod that by selecting 3 sub-district center of food crops in Pakpak Bharat as the sampling location of crop residu. Crop by product was got by tilled, all the samples was collected in this study were 38 samples, to determine the quality of food crop residue analisis used was proximate analysis. The results showedthe amount production of crops by products based onfreshproduct, dry matterandcrude protein are 84.453,87tons/year,27.497,46 tons/year and1.641,66tons/year respectively.Carrying capacity of  food cropby productas analternative feedsource forbuffaloesbydry matter15.044 AU/year, the potential livestock increasing capacity is 13.729 AU/year. The conclusion from this study is in Pakpak Bharat there are 4 types of crop by product can use as an alternative feed for bufalo are rice straw, corn straw, leaves of cassava and and sweat potato leaves. Abstract

ABSTRACT This study aimed to determine the effect Endopower β® in diet of the carcass and visceral organs weight in broiler chickens. This research was conducted at the Laboratory Animal Sciences Program Husbandry Faculty of Agriculture, University of Sumatra Utara. The experiment was conducted for 35 days started from October to November 2013. The design experiment completely randomized design (CRD) with 5 treatments and 4 replications. This treatment consists of R0a (Diet Commercial 100%); Diet compose of 80% comercial diet and 20% palm kernel cake treated by level Endopower β® 0% (R0); 0,02%(R1); 0,04% (R2); 0,06%(R3). The result showed that addition endopower β® significantly (P<0,01) increased the average slaughter eight, carcass weight and carcass percentage. Level 0.06% of Endopower showed highest slaughter weghts, carcass weight and carcass percentage. It is concluded that endopower β® improve  slaughter weight, carcass weight, carcass percentage and decreased visceral organs weight. Abstract

ABSTRACT                This study aims to identify the main feature size and shape of the morphometrics and the genetic distance of local chickens in various districts of Batubara. This research used survey method with 2392 number of sample of chicken and data were analized with software SAS (Statistics Analytical System) which is used as a measure of genetic distance Mahalanobis genetic distance squared minimum, and Software MEGA6  for get Phenogram tree with UPGMA method ( Unweight Pair Group Method with Arithmetic ). The results based morphometric analysis showed differences in morphology on every chicken.  Based on the similarities and mix in between district and genetic distance from chicken. According to morphometric analysis, there is morphological different on every local chicken from 7 existed district in Batubara that Sei Suka and Sei Balai ( 1.26 ), Air Putih and Talawi ( 3.79 ), Medang Deras and Tanjung Tiram ( 1.73 ) and Lima Puluh (2.13 ). Conclusions showed that primary identified that appears are the length of tibia, metatarsus width and length beak , and the genetic distance of 7 districts there is one distinct districts namely at Lima Puluh (2.13), while six other districts were similarities between the two districts . Keywords : Morfometriks , Genetic distance , Kampung Chicken, Batubara.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Pora-pora Fish is one type of fish found in the waters of Toba Lake and sold by traders in traditional markets around Toba Lake. Research was conducted at the Laboratory Animal Sciences Study Program, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Sumatera Utara, starting in September to November 2014. This study used 100 heads day old Porsea ducks and design used was a completely randomized design (CRD) consisted of 5 treatments 4 replications and each replication consisted of 5 heads day old Porsea ducks. Level substitution of commercial fishmeal by pora-pora fishmeal with ration P0 (0:100); P1 (25:75); P2 (50:50); P3 (75:25) and P4 (100:0). The results showed that the utilization of pora-pora fishmeal significantly different effect (P<0,05) on feed consumption (g/head/week): (510,35; 520,75; 521,43; 519,41 and 518,46, respectively), body weight gain (g/head/week): (131,34; 135,57; 136,79; 132,08 and 116,43, respectively) and not significantly different effect (P>0,05) on feed conversion ration (FCR). The conclusion of this research is utilization of pora-pora fishmeal can substitute 75% of commercial fishmeal. Keywords: Performance, Porsea duck, pora-pora fishmeal, commercial fishmeal ABSTRAK Ikan pora-pora adalah salah satu jenis ikan yang terdapat di perairan Danau Toba dan dijual oleh para pedagang di pasar tradisional khususnya di sekitar perairan Danau Toba. Penelitian telah dilaksanakan di Laboratorium Biologi Ternak Program Studi Peternakan, Fakultas Pertanian, Universitas Sumatera Utara selama 3 bulan, dimulai bulan September - November 2014. Penelitian ini menggunakan 100 ekor day old duck (DOD) itik porsea dan rancangan  yang digunakan adalah rancangan acak lengkap (RAL) yang terdiri atas 5 perlakuan 4 ulangan dan setiap ulangan teridiri dari 5 ekor DOD. Level substitusi tepung ikan komersial oleh tepung ikan pora-pora dalam ransum adalah PO (0:100); P1 (25:75); P2 (50:50); P3 (75:25) dan P4 (100:0). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pemanfaatan tepung ikan pora-pora memberikan pengaruh berbeda nyata (P<0,05) terhadap konsumsi pakan (g/ekor/minggu) berturut-turut: (510,35; 520,75; 521,43; 519,41 dan 518,46), pertambahan bobot badan (g/ekor/minggu) berturut-turut: (131,34; 135,57; 136,79; 132,08 dan 116,43) dan tidak berbeda nyata (P>0,05) terhadap konversi pakan. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini adalah pemanfaatan tepung ikan pora-pora dapat menggantikan tepung ikan komersial sebesar 75%.   Kata kunci: performans, itik porsea, tepung ikan pora-pora, tepung ikan komersial.

Abstract

ABSTRACT One of the potential resource of animal in Indonesia is Gryllus bimaculatus.The objective of this research is  to find out the effect of feeding concentrate with cassava leaves and cabbage on Gryllus bimaculatus. This research was conducted at the Medan Tuntungan, from Mei to July 2015. The research used completely randomize design (CRD) with 4 treatments and 5 replications. Each replications consists of 12 weaning Gryllus bimacullatus. The treatment consists of  P0 = concentrate, P1= concentrate cassava leaves, P2= concentrate+cabbage, P3= concentrate+ cassava leaves+ cabbage.The result indicated that the treatment significantly different effect hatching lenght time, egg production and hatchability, while had no significant effect on parent mortalitiy, hatching lenght time (day) on treatment were 10,20; 10,80;8,20 and 9,20, respectively, egg production (egg/day) were 170,28; 424,32; 286,64 and 438,24,respectively, hatchability (%) were 42,6; 34,8; 21 and44,8,respectively, mortality(%)were 16,66; 14,99; 14,98 and 9,99, respectively. Treatment P3 showed higher egg production and hatching than P0 and P1. The conclusion of this research that feeding concentrate with cassava leaves and cabbage improve hatchability, egg production and reduce parent mortality and accelerate hatching lenght time on crickets (Gryllus bimaculatus). Penelitian bertujuan untuk mengetahui efek pemberian konsentrat dengan pakan sayuran daun singkong (Manihot utilissima) dan kol (Brassica oleraceae L) terhadap daya tetas jangkrik kalung (Gryllus bimaculatus). Penelitian ini dilakukan Medan Tuntungan,  bulan Mei – Juli 2015. Rancangan yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah rancangan acak lengkap (RAL) dengan 4 perlakuan dan 5 ulangan. Setiap ulangan terdiri dari 12 jangkrik kalung. Perlakuan terdiri atas P0 = konsentrat, P1= konsentrat + daun singkong, P2 = konsentrat + kol dan P3= konsentrat + daun singkong + kol.Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa perlakuan signifikan terhadap lama penetasan, produksi telur dan daya tetas, sedangkan, mortalitas induk tidak signifikan. Lama penetasan (hari) berturut-turut yaitu 10,20; 10,80; 8,20 dan 9,2, produksi telur (butir/hari) yaitu 170,28; 424,32; 286,64 dan 438,24, daya tetas(%) yaitu 42,6; 34,8; 21 dan 44,8 dan mortalitas induk (%) yaitu 16,66; 14,99; 14,98 dan 9,99. Pada perlakuan P3= konsentrat + daun singkong + kol menunjukkan pengaruh pakan dengan pakan sayuran, daun singkong dan kol terhadap daya tetas lebih baik dari pada perlakuan P0, P1 dan P2.Kesimpulan dari hasil penelitian ini menyatakan bahwa pemberian konsentrat dengan daun singkong (Manihot utilissima) dan kol (Brassica oleraceae L) dapat meningkatkan daya tetas, produksi telur dan mempercepat waktu penetasan pada jangkrik kalung.   Kata kunci: Daun singkong,daunkol, konsentrat,daya tetas, jangkrik kalung.

Abstract

ABSTRACT This research was conducted at the Laboratory of Animal Biology Faculty of Agriculture, University of Sumatra Utara in July 2014 to October 2014. This study aims to determine the economic value of the utilization of fermented pulp sago by starbio. This study used a survey method to determine the price and observed at previous research used treatments  level fermented pulp sago consists of PO (0%), P1 (7,5%), P2 (15%), P3 (22,5%) and P4 (30%). The observed parameters were  total cost of production, total production, analysis of profit / loss, Revenue / Cost ratio (R/C ratio) and Income Over Feed Cost (IOFC) for a period of 3 months. The results showed that the highest profit (Rp/head/week) was on treatment P4 (60.382,95) and the lowest profit was in the treatment P3 (48.532,33), the Revenue/Cost ratio (R/C ratio) was in the treatment P4 (1,38) and the lowest was in the treatment P3 (1,32). The highest of  Income Over Feed Cost (IOFC) (Rp/head/week) was in the treatment  P4 (84.439,75) and the lowest was in treatment  P3 (67.751,63). The conclusion of this study indicated that the utilization of the fermented pulp sago as at the level of  30% showed highest profit than other treatments. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui nilai ekonomi pemanfaatan ampas sagu yang difermentasi dengan probiotik starbio. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode survey untuk menentukan harga yang digunakan dalam penelitian. Perlakuan ampas sagu fermentasi terdiri dari level 0% (P0), 7,5% (P1), 15% (P2),  22,5% (P3), 30% (P4). Parameter yang diamati yaitu total biaya produksi, total hasil produksi, analisis laba/rugi, Revenue/Cost ratio (R/C ratio) dan Income Over Feed Cost (IOFC) untuk periode 3 bulan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa rataan analisis laba/rugi (Rp/ekor/minggu) tertinggi pada perlakuan P4 (60.382,95) dan laba/rugi terendah pada perlakuan P3 (48.532,33), rataan R/C ratio tertinggi pada perlakuan P4 (1,38) dan terendah pada perlakuan P3 (1,32), rataan IOFC (Rp/ekor/minggu) tertinggi pada perlakuan P4 (84.439,75) dan terrendah pada perlakuan P3 (67.751,63). Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan ampas sagu fermentasi sebagai campuran bahan pakan dalam ransum sampai level 30% dapat memberikan keuntungan. Abstract

ABSTRACT One of the potential alternative feed is fermented passion fruit pell by Phanerochaete chrysosporium. The study aims to determine the effect flour of passion fruit pell fermentation with Phanerochaete chrysosporium againts carcass of weaning male rex rabbit. This research was conducted at Rukun Farm Berastagi, from August to October 2015. This research used Completely Randomize Design (CDR) with 4 treatments and 5 replications. Each replications consists of 20 rex rabbit male weaning with initial body weight 918±75,18 g. The treatments were level of fermented passiflora edulis by Phanerochaete chrysosporium on concentrate compose of  P0 (0%); P1 (10%); P2 (20%) and P3 (30%). The variables were observed consist of body weight, carcass weight, percentage carcass, relative organ weight in and relative organ weight outside. The result showed that the treatment significant influenced (P<0,05) on body weight, carcass weight, percentage carcass, relative digestive tract weight, relative skin weight. Conversely, had no significant effect (P>0,05) on relative organ weight (g/kg BW) heart, lungs, liver, kidney, head and feet. Penelitian dilaksanakan di Rukun Farm Berastagi, pada bulan Agustus-Oktober 2015. Rancangan yang digunakan adalah rancangan acak lengkap (RAL) dengan 4 perlakuan dan 5 ulangan. Setiap ulangan terdiri dari 20 ekor kelinci rex jantan lepas sapih dengan rataan bobot badan awal 918±75,18 g. Perlakuan dengan berbagai level kulit buah markisa fermentasi Phanerochaete chrysosporium dalam ransum terdiri dari  P0 (0%); P1 (10%); P2 (20%) dan P3 (30%). Parameter yang diteliti adalah bobot potong, bobot karkas, persentase karkas, bobot relatif organ dalam dan bobot relatif organ luar. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa perlakuan berpengaruh nyata (P<0,05) terhadap bobot potong, bobot karkas, persentase karkas, bobot relatif saluran pencernaan dan bobot relatif kulit. Sebaliknya, tidak berbeda nyata (P>0,05) pada bobot relatif jantung, paru-paru, hati, ginjal, kepala dan kaki. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini adalah penggunaan tepung kulit buah markisa yang difermentasi denganPhanerochaete chrysosporium sampailevel 30% dalam ransum dapat meningkatkan bobot potong, bobot karkas dan persentase karkas kelinci rex jantan.   Kata kunci : Kulit Buah Markisa, Fermentasi, Phanerochaete chrysosporium, Karkas, Kelinci
