Abstract

Gender identity development in pre-school children is a complex process influenced by individual, familial, and societal factors. This research investigates the role of the family in shaping children's understanding and expression of gender, drawing on a mixed-methods approach that combines qualitative interviews, observations, and quantitative surveys. The study examines parental socialization practices, attitudes, and beliefs regarding gender, as well as the influence of sibling and peer interactions, cultural norms, and socioeconomic factors within the family context. Findings highlight the central role of parents as primary socialization agents, transmitting cultural norms and values related to gender through everyday interactions and practices. Sibling and peer influences further shape children's understanding of gender, while cultural and societal factors intersect with family dynamics to influence perceptions of gender roles and expectations. Practical implications for parents, educators, and policymakers are discussed, emphasizing the importance of fostering awareness, reflection, and action to create supportive environments that empower children to explore and embrace their gender identity authentically and affirmatively. Overall, this research contributes to a deeper understanding of the processes underlying gender identity formation in early childhood and informs interventions and policies aimed at promoting healthy gender development in pre-school children.

Abstract

Parental divorce represents a significant life transition for children, with potential implications for their emotional well-being and development. This mixed-methods study aimed to investigate the impact of parental divorce on emotional development in early adolescents, exploring both quantitative associations and qualitative insights. A diverse sample of early adolescents (N = 300) from various socio-demographic backgrounds participated in the study. Quantitative analyses revealed significant relationships between parental divorce and heightened levels of anxiety, depression, and decreased self-esteem among children. Longitudinal analysis further identified duration and acrimony of the divorce process as significant predictors of emotional outcomes. Qualitative findings provided depth and context to children's experiences, highlighting themes of loss, confusion, and resilience in response to parental divorce. The integration of quantitative and qualitative data illuminated the complex interplay between divorce and emotional development, underscoring the importance of supportive relationships and adaptive coping strategies in fostering resilience. Implications for practice and future research directions are discussed, emphasizing the need for targeted interventions and collaborative efforts to support children navigating the challenges of parental divorce.

Abstract

This study explores the relationship between positive affirmations and self-confidence levels in adolescent girls. Adolescence is a critical period for the development of self-esteem and identity, often characterized by fluctuating self-confidence. The purpose of this research was to examine whether engaging in daily positive affirmations could significantly improve self-confidence in adolescent girls. A total of 100 adolescent girls, aged 12 to 18, participated in this study, which was conducted over a four-week period. The participants were divided into an experimental group, which practiced daily positive affirmations, and a control group, which received no intervention. Self-confidence levels were measured using a standardized self-report questionnaire before and after the intervention. The results revealed a significant increase in self-confidence in the experimental group compared to the control group. These findings suggest that positive affirmations can be an effective psychological tool for enhancing self-confidence among adolescent girls. The study also discusses limitations, such as sample size and reliance on self-reported data, and suggests avenues for future research, including longer intervention periods and more diverse samples. The implications of these findings are significant for educational and therapeutic settings, where positive affirmations could be integrated into programs aimed at promoting emotional well-being and resilience in adolescents.

Abstract

This study examines the effect of meditation on stress reduction among college students. The increasing prevalence of stress-related issues in academic environments has raised concerns about the mental health and well-being of students. Meditation, particularly mindfulness practices, has been widely studied for its potential to alleviate stress and enhance emotional resilience. This research aims to assess whether regular meditation can reduce perceived stress levels and improve overall well-being in college students. A total of 60 college students participated in an 8-week meditation program, with pre- and post-intervention stress levels measured using the Perceived Stress Scale (PSS). The results indicated a significant reduction in stress levels following the meditation intervention, with participants reporting improved emotional regulation, focus, and academic performance. These findings suggest that meditation can serve as an effective and accessible tool for managing stress among college students. The study highlights the importance of incorporating mindfulness practices into student wellness programs, offering a low-cost, sustainable approach to promoting mental health in academic settings. Further research is recommended to explore the long-term effects of meditation and its applicability across diverse student populations.
