Abstract

XY Company is a food industry, which produced instant noodles. The problem which faced by company is highly percentage of defective product of about 8.9% which limit as stipulated by company is 3% of total production. The aim of the research is to reduce the quantity defect product and gives recomendation about repaiment proposed the quality of instant noodles using six sigma method. The result of the research was DPMO value about 17997.4234 with σ value 3.5, which world industry value level of about 6 σ (3.4 DPMO).Capability process was about 0.513 and index capability process was about 0.36 which showed the capability process was still low and average of processing still produced unspecifications product. Based on analyze step, the mostly defect product are broken noodles, defect packing, contamination. Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA) step obtained the most potential causing factor was loose chain cutter machine with RPN (Risk Priority Number) value 240. ANAVA test showed there was a significant factor between long sealer temperature and end sealer temperature. Recommendation for setting long sealer machine is 2150C, speed for cutter machine is 650 rpm and end sealer temperature is 1640C.

Abstract

A railway station XYZ is one of the business fields engaged in providing public transportation services. Service quality and its facility condition especially the waiting room still do not meet minimum standards as stateted in transportation Minister Regulation based No. PM 9 dated 8 February 2011. This research described waiting room condition through questionnaire given to the commuters. By knowing this condition, do the measurement of environmental conditions of work on the waiting room at railway station. Based on the working environmental condition in waiting room is measured. The results are a temperature range at 31-35.3oC, the illuminance level at 200-215 lux and the level of sound intensity on the waiting room range at 66.8-88.1dB. Problem solving is done by Macro Ergonomic approach by using MEAD method (Macros Ergonomic Analysis and Design) through ten process stages resulting in alternative selection that is improvement made, facility provided in the waiting room, worker’s train and social habit improvement. Work system design and waiting room facilities improvements are purposed which can be implemented by the company management in order to improve service quality.

Abstract

Business competition demands a company to apply a strategic plan to meet the needs of consumers in the development of products to improved quality, performance, and a reduction in costs and time of production. PT XYZ is one of the manufacturing company that produce spring bed products, keep trying to meet consumer needs with a high quality product. Problems that occur on company is redesign component product spring bed that cause the longer production time and the higher of the unit cost product. The purpose of this research is to identify the causes of the occurance of a waste of time and cost in the process of making product with Quality Function Deployment(QFD) method. QFD used to identify consumer needs that connects between technical characteristics of the product. Technical characteristics of products that have the highest value shows that these technical characteristics are the focus of the problem faced by the company, while the attributes of consumer needs that has the highest value are things that should be fixed to address existing problems. The result showed that performance of the technical characteristics with the highest value is part family and similarity in the base of the structure of component with each value degrees interests about 20 %, while the ten attributes of consumers needs that gain the highest relative weight is variable type of mattress foam with the value of relative weight about 16,29.

Abstract

Lighting as one of workplace environment factor affects the productivity of people. Initial observation at Printing Unit workplace of XXX Company indicated unsuitable lighting for existing jobs. Initial measurement of illumination level on several measurement points showed range from 34,3 lux to 195,4 lux, while standard of illumination level for kind of continuous and rough work listed on Health Minister Regulation No 1405 year 2002 is 200 lux. The impact of bad lighting indications led to a number of reject products passed the inspection session ranged from 2 to 11% per day on initial observation. In this research, illumination level measurement was performed along with observation towards reject products that passed the inspection session. Quantitative method is used on this research. The result shown that the average illumination level of workplace was 41,85 lux and the number of reject products that passed the inspection session reached 5-11% per batch. Changing the type of lamp and also adding a number of lamps were recommended to fulfill the standard of average illumination level. The recommended lamp said to be used is 16 units of energy-saving lamp type Master PL-L 4P80W. Maximum spaces between luminaires are 3,63m.

Abstract

Along with economic growth and increasing population led to the development of industry and energy consumption in the world, Among the various types of energy, fuel wood is thought to be the oldest energy sources used by humans . The problem is the use of firewood production is insufficient for the needs of sustainable consumption. In XYZ tofu makin industry that still use wood as a fuel acknowledges the high price of fuel used in the production process, for each week, it takes about 350 kg of firewood or equivalent for Rp. 450.000 for each week or about 58 kg at a price of Rp 75.000 for a day . Recommended alternative is the use of the use of rice husk as an alternative energy source material on the process of cooking tofu porridge. To convert waste rice husks into energy alternatives , then the required burner in accordance with the husk fuel. Husk stove is designed with the approach of Kansei Engineering is a method that brings together technology Kansei (feeling and emotion) with engineering disciplines. Through the results of questionnaires obtained 9 kansei words into positive husk stove design parameters. According to the results of the calculation of the need to heat the slurry chaff needs to know by one time cooking takes 49 kg of rice husk, so for one day of production required chaff as much as 197,2 kg or equivalent to Rp 29.800

Abstract

The level of competition in the banking world becomes more stringent that demands the bank to improve and sustain its performance. Martabe saving is the main product of Bank XYZ. However, during the last 6 months in September 2012 to March 2013, happened a decline in the number of Martabe saving’s customers about 185 customers. This research aims to do optimization service quality to meet the needs and maximize customers’s satisfaction. The methods used are Servqual, Kano Model, QFD, and Goal Programming. Based on Servqual Method, obtained that gap between received service and expected service. Then categorization attribute done by Kano Model showed that attributes of service are classified into 5 must be categories, 2 one dimensional categories and 3 attractive categories. From the creation of QFD, known that the attribute “the seriousness and speed of officers in response customers’s complaints” became the first priority in the effort to improve. Based on optimization of technical characteristics, obtained that a high level of security 79,14%, the services place and facilities are comfortable and clean 83,52%, good knowledge and skills in serving customers 100%, credibility of bank 75,32%, the development and improvement of banking technology system 100%, good responses to the needs of the customers 100%, satisfactory services 100%, the bank's strategic locations 87,78%, the number of tellers are 6 people, and the procurement of attractive banking program 80,29%.

Abstract

UD. ABC is one of the small industries engaged in the manufacture of white crackers. The condition in drying station is a facility that is not ergonomic and static posture workers. Workers had complaints of pain in several parts of his body. Sick workers are perceived as hunched position (300) is currently drafting up a nest crackers (crackers drying container). Parts of the body have a very sick sense that the knees and feet. This pain is felt because of the position of the foot is not balanced (bending> 600) and work facilities that do not fit so make frequent leg cramps. REBA method used to assess the posture of the workers. Analysis of REBA worksheet shows a high level of risk experienced by workers during the production activities that take place in the drying station. The results of design study work facilities are table and chair that are tailored to the dimensions of the body, so that implemented is expected to eliminate the pains felt by workers.

Abstract

Quality of the product is important factor to determine success of a company. The product will be qualified if the company meet the customer’s need and desire. Product crumb rubber type SIR 20 has low quality because there are products over limit from tolerancy standar based plasticity retention index test and dirt content test. Standart PRI and dirt content based Standar Nasional Indonesia (SNI) is minimum 50%, and maksimum 0,2%. The average of actual quality test for product crumb rubber type SIR 20 based plasticity retention index test and dirt content test is 59,46% and 0,22%. The result of the product quality test show the company has not to fill standar quality of the product. The product has low quality can make production cost increase. The proper technique to solve this problem is Quality Function Deployment (QFD). Based on the results of the approach taken by the QFD obtained 15 variables consumer needs and 6 technical characteristics of the Crumb Rubber Type SIR 20 product which is the variable "production cost" is the first priority in improvement quality with the value of the highest interest rate that is 21%.

Abstract

Every company wants to earn product with optimal function but takes low production cost. Designs that more easily assembled will increase time efficiency and cause reduction in production costs. This study aimed to evaluate the product design of spring bed 6 feet by using the concept of QFD (Quality Function Deployment). Quality Function Deployment is a systematic method for identifying consumer desires and meet the requirements of the customers as one of the stages of product development from design to final product . Research with the QFD method generates the attribute most significant effect on the cost of assembly and long product assembly is the number of component which shown with the highest performance measurement is number of components. It is also supported with the highest relative weight namely number of component that used to joint the parts of spring bed. Spring bed has many constituent components , one of which is the use of nails that many so spend a lot of time in assembling a spring bed. It causes the company can not fulfil the customer demand. The number of components of the spring bed products serve as the main focus in the repairing of spring bed to reduce the assembly time so that can help company to fulfil the customer demands.

Abstract

Design is a form of plan, which can be proposals, drawings, models, or descriptions in order to produce an object, system, component, or structure. Designing is the first step in the manufacture of the product. Springbed is one type of bed that is widely used by the public, especially the middle class and above. Consumer needs continue to increase so that the required design new products that can meet the dynamic needs of consumers at PT. XYZ which springbed product’s sales decreased by 10 %. This study is intended to determined quality desain product according to consumer needs. Quality Function Deployment (QFD) is a method which translates customer needs to technical characteristics that can be intervened by the company. The relation of customer needs and technical characteristics is clarified by using Analytic Network Process (ANP). QFD-ANP method used to get a clear picture of the needs of consumers and more objective so as to look for factors that need to be repaired or upgraded. QFD-ANP approach result show that the technical characteristics of the mattress’s thickness, the size of the coils/spring, mattress’s brightness color are important technical characteristics to be improved with the degree of importance respectively 23,83 % , 23,42 % , and 20,33 % .
