Abstract

Ells (Monopterus albus) is freshwater fishery commodities however important economic value, because it was the selling power, especially in export markets. The feed is an important factor in ell aquaculture. Research conducted to determine the effect of different feeding on growth and survival of ells. Ells maintenance container using palstic barrels with a volume of 200 liters. Experimental design using a completely randomized design with 2 treatment and 1 control, 4 replications in each treatment described as follows; 1) Giving Tubifex worms (Tubifex sp.) with pelet feed, 2) Giving snails (Pomaceae canaliculata Lamarck) with pelet feed, 3) Giving pelet feed as a control. Experiment was conducted from May until June 2014 in the backyard of the house on Setiabudi street Medan. The results showed the differences in the type of feed effect (p<0,01) on the growth of heavy and long Monopterus albus. The survival rate was 100 % in each treatment. Result showed that the snail was better than Tubifex sp. with regard to growth and conformation. Mean values with Feeding the snails (Pomaceae canaliculata Lamarck) and pellets were attained as follows: highest body length (L) 20,43 cm, body weight (W) 26,82 g,Tubifex sp. showed highest body length (L) 20,12 cm, body weight (W) 26,95 g.Keywords : Ells (Monopterus albus), Feed, Tubifex, Pomaceae canaliculata, pelet.

Abstract

Lead (Pb) in water was found in dissolved and suspended form. Lead toxicity to plants was relatively lower compared to other trace elements. This study aimed to determine the influence of Azolla microphylla to absorb heavy metal at different concentrations of Pb, and Pb heavy metal for growth of Azolla microphylla biomass. This study was conducted from February to March 2014 in the Laboratory of Manajemen Sumberdaya Perairan Universitas Sumatera Utara.The ability of Azolla microphylla to absorb lead was measured by calculating Bioconcentration Factor. Results indicated that the BCF values on day H7 at 1 ppm of lead is 0.2372 and at 5 ppm is 0.3295. While on the H14 at 1 ppm concentration of lead is 0.2515 and at 5 ppm is 0.3536. Total weight of Azolla microphylla without lead contamination on day H7 is 105.6 grams, while the weight of Azolla microphylla with the addition 1 ppm of lead is 102.1 grams, and at 5 ppm is only 99.6 grams. While on the H14, the total weight of Azolla microphylla biomass without the addition of lead is 153.1 grams, 149.9 grams of lead at 1 ppm concentration, and 140.8 grams of lead at 5 ppm. Then in H28 measurements, weight Azolla microphylla biomass in the control treatment reached 209.7 grams, treatment with 1 ppm of lead reached 210.3 grams weight, and reached 198.5 grams at 5 ppm.Keywords : Azolla microphylla, Lead, BCF

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to know the reproduction (the sex ratio, the gonad maturity level, the gonad maturity index, the size of the first mature gonad, fecundity, and the egg diameter). This research was done in May until June 2014 in four different locations by using census method. The sex ratio is consisting of 21 females fishes and 34 male fishes with a balanced sex ratio. The maturity gonad level for lemeduk female and male are found in I–IV. The gonad maturity index for female is 0,05% – 9,66% and for male is 0,05% – 9,75%. The size of the first mature gonad for male fish is 193 mm. The fecundity of female lemeduk is 5.345–54.372 eggs. The distribution of the female lemeduk egg diameter is 0,068–0,1202 mm.Keyword : Belumai River, Fish reproduction, Barbodes schwanenfeldii.,

Abstract

Belumai river is one of river in Deli Serdang Regency, North Sumatra Province. One of fish resource potency in Belumai river is Lemeduk fish (Barbodes schwanenfeldii). The aims these research are to study the morphometric characteristic and meristic range and to observe the morphometric diversity Lemeduk fish in Belumai river. This study was conducted in Belumai River Deli Serdang Regency from May until June 2014. The calculation morphometric character using Principal Component Analysis based on morphometric character. The results of Principal Component Analysis indicate more information were found on the both of principal component with cumulative range was 84,3%. All morphometric character had a role on first main component. The character with a role to the second main component as character that influence the morphometric diversity was dorsal fin length and eye diameter. The principal component analysis indicated lemeduk fish on four stations did not indicate classification. This indicate that the observed fish was one population unit. On the calculation phenotype range value each character lemeduk fish in Belumai river indicate that morphometric character with the higher range value was standart length (PS) and the lower is eye diameter (DM), and meristic character calculation found the radius fin were DIII.9, AIII.6, VI.8, P.13 −14.Keywords :Morphometric, Meristic, Belumai River, Barbodes schwanenfeldii

Abstract

Bingai River is a river which flow through the Binjai City, with length 15 km and large 150 km² in North Binjai area. The research aims were to know the community structure and relation of physical-chemical waters factors to periphyton community structure in Bingai River, Binjai City, North Sumatera. The research had been conducted in July to Agustus 2014. The research used Purposive Random Sampling method. Sampling was performed three times in three observation stations. Physical-chemical parameters and biological observed were temperature, pH, dissolved oxygen, brightness, current, nitrates, phosphates, diversity and abundance of periphyton. Based on the result obtained at three stations to consist of 34 genus divided to 3 class, that was Bacillariophyceae (23 genus), Chlorophyceae (8 genus), and Cyanophyceae (3 genus). Periphyton with the highest result in station 1 was Frustulia and the lowest result was Closterium, in station 2 the highest result was Navicula and the lowest was Terpsinoe, Skeletonema, Microspora, Fragilariforma, Oscillatoria, and Cosmarium, in station 3 the highest result was Navicula and the lowest was Terpsinoe. Periphyton Diversity (H´) ranged from 2,38 − 2,70. Abundance ranged from 10.136 − 30.216 ind/cm². Temperature averaged 28°C, pH ranged from 7,35 − 7,45, DO ranged from 4,65 − 4,75 mg/l, brightness ranged from 42,5 − 60 cm, current ranged from 0,15 − 0,21 m/det, nitrate ranged from 2,1 −2,55 mg/l, phosphate ranged from 0,18 − 0,25 mg/l. According to Diversity Index (H´) and physical-chemical factors Bingai River categorized as lightly polluted water.Keywords : Periphyton, Community Structure, Diversity, Abundance, Bingai River.

Muhammad Fadrika, Study Potential for Ecotourism in Pantai Indah Lestari,Serdang Bedagai regency , North Sumatra province, under guided Rahmawatiand Zulham Apandy Harahap.Indah Lestari beach has natural resource potential to be a place thatsupports tourism, especially ecotourism ecotourism which in this case is based ona sightseeing trip to keep the coastal environment. Tourism activities shouldinvolve several parties such as visitors, local communities and managers to beable to put to good use.The research was conducted in Lestari Indah beach , Serdang Bedagairegency of North Sumatra Province. This research was conducted from Octoberto November, 2013 by taking the physical parameters of the questionnaire andalso taking part - related parties. Suitability Index Areas, Sustainable CoastalScenic can be used as tourist attractions. Capability Areas can still beaccommodated by the coastal areas, so as not to damage Indah Lestari Coastregion. Abstract

Siombak Lake is an artificial lake formed as a result of sand dredging activity formerly. This Lake is influenced by the tides. This study aims to determine the structure of nekton community. This study was carried out from May to July 2014. Data collection were nekton species composition and abundance, as well as water quality data as a supporter. Data were analyzed with a diversity index, uniformity index, dominance index. The results showed there were 7 of the Ordo, of which 6 ordo belongs to fish and 1 ordo of shrimp. Slinding (Ambassis uroatenia) was found to be caught at most in the amount of 237 and 64% relative abundance. Diversity nekton in Siombak Lake was medium (the range of 1 to 3) that was 1.07. Generallly dominance index 0.5, showing no species dominating. Similarity index was 0.48 indicating individual spreading differently.Keywords: Diversity, Dominance, Evenness, Lake Siombak, Nekton.

Abstract

River ecosystems is very important for human life because provide water for human activities such as agriculture, fisheries, industry and domestic. Community activities of agricultural and sand mining activities in the River Ular can be a source of water pollutant that which affect on water quality parameters of physics, chemistry and biology. Water had been studied and compared to the Quality Standard Government Decree No.82 of 2001 by using Storet method. The research was conducted in June 2014 through August 2014 along the River ular from Deli Serdang district boundary to the mouth of the river ular in Muara Pantai Indah. Measurement of water quality parameters was done at 3 stations with 3-point decision. The method used in the determination of water quality sampling station was purposive random sampling. River Ular water quality parameters based on chemicall physics with methods storet showed polluted water to moderate polluted condition. The highest a bundance of plankton found at agricultural area sand the lowest at estuary area. Plankton diversity index values was moderate, low uniformity and there is not dominant species. River Ular water quality based water quality standards according to Regulation No.82 of 2001can be utilized for the fish farming and agriculture to the designation of class III and IV.Keywords: Water quality parameter, Standards Regulation, Storet Method, River Ular

Abstract

Percut river is one of the rivers that flow in Deli Serdang which release into Malaka Straits. The objective of the research were to determine the macrozoobentos community structure and relation of chemical and physical parameters of water to diversity index and family biotic index of macrozoobentos in Percut River, Deli Serdang Regency. The research was conducted by using purposive random sampling method in four stations and four times sampling period on July until August. Physical and chemical parameters observed were temperature, flow rate, turbidity, TSS, pH, DO, BOD5, TOM and substrat structure. Based on the research was found 12 genera of macroozoobenthos as Branchiura, Tubifex, Penaeus, Scylla, Anadara, Melanoides Thiara, Elimia, Pleurocera, Filopaludina, Nerita dan Pila. The highest density was obtained at around of domestic area of 88.1 ind/m2 and the lowest density at around of agricultural area of 51 ind/m2. The highest diversity index of 1.683 (moderate) was obtained at around of fish landing area, and the lowest diversity index of 1,263 (moderate) was obtained at around of domestic area. Based on the family biotic index indicate that the Percut River not suitable for freshwater aquaculture.Keywords : Makrzoobentos, Community Structure, Percut River

Abstract

The purpose of research was to examine the condition and tourism potential in mangrove ecosystem area as foundation to develop mangrove ecosystem on Sei Nagalawan coastal according to ecotourism perception and environmental carrying capacity. This research was carried out in August-September 2014. The research method was purposive sampling for mangrove potential and SWOT analysis for developing strategies on mangrove ecotourism in Sei Nagalawan coastal area.. Mangrove species found were Avicennia marina, A. officinalis, Bruguierra cylindrica, and Rhizophora apiculata. Animals species found were birds, reptile, fish, mollusca and crustaceae. Tourism similarity index for mangrove ecosystem activity was 36 people/day. There were three priority strategies alternatively, firstly, to increase the bussiness management of mangrove ecosystem of ecoutorism activity. Secondly, to keep the tourism mangrove object by establising the carrying capacity area. Thirdly, to promote the mangrove ecotourism using internet or any medias.Keywords: Ecoutorism, mangrove ecosystem, Sei Nagalawan coastal, SWOT analysis.
