Abstract

Background Problems: Finswimming face high psychological stress due to demands, competition, risk of injury, and challenging aquatic environments. Basic psychological needs and the ability to manage emotions are crucial factors in supporting athletes' mental well-being. Research Objectives: This study aims to explore the relationship between the fulfillment of basic psychological needs and emotions of finswimming athletes. Methods: The method used is quantitative descriptive using Basic Needs Satisfaction in Sport Scale (BNSSS) and Sport Emotion Questionnaire (SEQ). Subjects involving 30 finswimming athletes at the Shark Aquatic Club. Results: The results of the study showed a significant positive relationship between the fulfillment of basic psychological needs and the emotions of finswimming athletes. Data analysis revealed that when athletes' basic psychological needs are well met, they tend to be better able to manage emotions effectively. This indicates that increasing the fulfillment of psychological needs is related to increasing the ability to control emotions. Conclusion: This study concludes that there is a significant positive relationship between the fulfillment of basic psychological needs and the ability to manage emotions of finswimming athletes. This means that fulfilling psychological needs supports better emotions during the training phase. This study suggests paying more attention to meeting athletes' basic psychological needs in training programs to optimize athletes' mental well-being and performance.

Abstract

This study aims to implement the Teaching Games for Understanding (TGfU) learning model to enhance the kasti playing skills of students at Heuleut I Public Elementary School Majalengka. Teaching Games for Understanding (TGFU) is an instructional model that emphasizes understanding tactics and game strategies rather than solely focusing on the mastery of physical techniques. It is anticipated that this model will encourage students to be more active in the learning process, improve their comprehension of the game, and facilitate comprehensive motor skill development. The study involved 27 fifth-grade students at Heuleut I Public Elementary School Majalengka, including 17 male and 10 female students. This research utilized a Classroom Action Research (CAR) design. Data collection was conducted in two phases: quantitative and qualitative. The success indicator for this study was set at a 90% proficiency rate in students’ kasti playing skills. Pre-cycle observations indicated a skill level of 11.2%. In Cycle I, students’ skill levels improved to 37.1%; in Cycle II, they reached 70.3%; and in Cycle III, they attained 92.6%. The results from Cycle III demonstrated that students achieved the success criterion of 90% proficiency in kasti playing skills. In conclusion, the findings of this study indicate that the application of the Teaching Games for Understanding (TGfU) learning model in kasti instruction significantly enhances the playing skills of fifth-grade students at Heuleut I Public Elementary School Majalengka.

Abstract

Stroke often causes disturbances in the sensorimotor system, which can interfere with the sufferer's ability to maintain balance and movement. Visual feedback can provide real-time information regarding the position and movement of a patient's body after a stroke, by adjusting movement adjustments and controlling body posture to maintain balance. The aim of this research is to determine the effect of visual feedback from the exercises given on post-stroke patients' posture control related to muscle activity, center of pressure, balance, gait and functional ability. The method used is a literature review through searching Pubmed and Scopus articles with the keywords "Visual Feedback" AND "Postural Control" OR "Postural Instability" AND Stroke which will be identified and selected using PRISMA guidelines. The research results showed that from 488 search articles, 6 articles were obtained that met the inclusion and exclusion criteria for review, which informed that visual feedback mediated by sit to stand exercises, Dynamic Sitting Sport, Sitting Balance, or visual feedback with a stable surface and bilateral visual feedback can improve muscle activity, center of pressure, balance, gait and functional abilities of post-stroke patients. The conclusion of this research is that there is an influence of visual feedback from the exercises given on posture control in stroke patients.

Abstract

Background Problems: For senior taekwondo athletes, a problem that often arises is the phenomenon of choking under pressure, where competitive pressure causes athletes to fail to manage stress and experience sudden changes in concentration. This condition occurs mainly in athletes with low levels of awareness, meaning they cannot maintain focus and self-awareness in high-pressure situations. As a result, the maximum potential seen during training is not realized on the field, which hinders the achievement of optimal match results. Research Objectives: This study aims to explore the relationship between mindfulness levels and choking under pressure in senior taekwondo athletes. Methods: This study uses a quantitative descriptive method involving 25 senior taekwondo athletes from the Victory Bandung Taekwondo Club. The instruments used in the study were questionnaires consisting of MIS to measure mindfulness and SAS, SCS, and ACSI-28 to measure choking under pressure. Results: The results of the study showed that the level of mindfulness of senior taekwondo athletes reached 74.1% with the highest indicator in awareness (78.7%), followed by refocusing (75.2%) and non-judgmental (68.4%), while the level of choking under pressure reached 67.6% with the highest value in ACSI (71.4%), followed by SAS (65.6%) and SCS (64%). Conclusion: This study concludes that the higher the level of mindfulness in athletes, the lower the tendency for them to experience the phenomenon of choking under pressure. Coaches and athletes are advised to incorporate mindfulness training into their psychological training programs to improve mental resilience and manage stress effectively to maintain optimal performance in competitive situations.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of paired passing drills on the improvement of forearm passing skills among elementary school students participating in volleyball extracurricular activities at Public Elementary School Pondok Ranggon, East Jakarta. The research method used was an experimental approach with a one-group pre-test and post-test design. A total of 30 students were selected as subjects. Data were collected through a forearm pass skill test and analyzed using a paired sample t-test. The results showed a significant increase in students’ forearm passing abilities after participating in the paired passing training, with a mean improvement of 10.9 points (t = 11.03, p < 0.05). These findings suggest that the paired passing method is effective in enhancing the fundamental volleyball skills of young learners.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of longpass training using targets on the accuracy of long passes in soccer sports ssb assist soccer school Bekasi city. The research method used is an experimental approach with a one-group pre-test and post-test design. This study involved 20 players from Assist Soccer School Bekasi City. Data was collected through long pass accuracy tests before (pre-test) and after (post-test) long pass training using targets. The average pre-test score was 5.2, while the average post-test score increased to 7.4. This increase indicates an improvement in long pass accuracy after the training.  Soccer coaches are advised to integrate long pass training with targets in routine training sessions to improve players’ passing accuracy. Further research can be conducted involving larger samples and age variations to generalize these findings. The use of technology, such as video analysis, can help in providing more detailed feedback to players regarding their long pass technique.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effectiveness of the Think-Pair-Share (TPS) learning model in improving forearm passing skills among fifth-grade students at Public Elementary School 03 Pondok Ranggon, East Jakarta. The research utilized a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design involving one group pre-test and post-test. A total of 30 students participated as research subjects. The instrument employed was a volleyball forearm passing performance test, which had been validated for its reliability and relevance to the learning objectives. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and paired sample t-test to measure the significance of improvement before and after the implementation of the TPS model. The findings revealed a significant increase in students’ forearm passing performance after the intervention. The average post-test scores showed marked improvement compared to the pre-test results, indicating the effectiveness of the TPS model in motor skill learning. The TPS strategy promoted meaningful student engagement, peer interaction, and deeper understanding of skill execution through structured collaboration. These results support the application of student-centered learning models, such as TPS, in physical education to foster both cognitive and psychomotor learning outcomes. This research suggests that implementing the TPS model can be a practical and impactful approach to enhancing volleyball skill acquisition in elementary school physical education settings.
