Abstract

This article examines the empowerment of underprivileged families through Program Keluarga Harapan (PKH) from a Weberian perspective. In the 21st century, the PKH has emerged as one of Indonesia’s governmental efforts to empower underprivileged families. This study focuses on the implementation of PKH in Bongas Kulon Village, emphasizing the importance of fostering family welfare empowerment through various initiatives, including the disbursement of social assistance funds and the Family Capacity Building Meetings (P2K2), through the lens of Max Weber’s classical sociological theory. The study aims to understand the motivations and social drivers behind the behavior of participants engaged in this empowerment program. A qualitative research approach was employed, using data collection methods such as interviews, observations, and document analysis. Findings reveal that the implementation of the PKH program involves several stages: preparation, execution, evaluation, and termination. The empowerment program has demonstrated positive impacts on aspects such as early childhood health, education, and elderly welfare by improving access to educational and health facilities. This research contributes to both practical and theoretical understandings of the effectiveness of family empowerment programs by integrating Max Weber’s classical sociological theory.

Abstract

This study evaluates the influence of the leadership of the Chairman of the Mosque Prosperity Council (DKM) and the quality of service on the perception of worshippers at the Al-Jazeera Mosque. Although the role of DKM leadership is important in improving the quality of mosque services, most previous studies have only emphasized the physical aspects and programmatic activities of mosques, thus paying less attention to how DKM leadership quality affects the perception of worshippers. This condition shows the need for a deeper understanding of the direct and indirect influence of leadership on the perception of worshippers, especially in the context of the management of mosques as spiritual and social centers. This study used a quantitative method with data collected through a Likert scale questionnaire to 33 respondents selected through purposive sampling. The validity and reliability test of the instrument was carried out using SPSS, also with a multicollinearity test and a heteroscedasticity test as a condition for the path analysis test. Meanwhile, the analysis of the relationship between variables was tested by path analysis using LISREL to examine direct and indirect influences. The results of the study show that the leadership of the Chairman of DKM and the quality of service have a significant influence on the positive perception of worshippers, which emphasizes the importance of leadership quality in optimizing the social and religious functions of mosques.

Abstract

This article discusses the communication between the Disability Care Pioneers and the Situbondo Regency Government. Since 2018, Situbondo Regency has declared itself an inclusive district, aiming to encompass various sectors, including employment. However, the Situbondo Regency Government has not yet comprehensively initiated efforts to realize inclusive employment. In response, the Disability Care Pioneers of Situbondo, a non-profit organization, took the initiative to promote inclusive employment in the region. This article analyzes and describes the communication process and various factors influencing the communication between the Disability Care Pioneers and the Situbondo Regency Government. Through a descriptive case study research method, based on the constructivist paradigm, it was found that the initial communication aimed to build emotional proximity. The familial approach between the Disability Care Pioneers and relevant stakeholders fostered empathy and credibility, further reinforcing the commitment to inclusive employment. The Disability Care Pioneers established bonds that facilitated collaboration and synergy, as well as built a strong support network, which eased the integration of individuals with disabilities into the labor market and encouraged broader societal involvement. Additionally, this family-based, empathy-driven approach enhanced the organization's credibility, ensuring that inclusive employment became a tangible reality with a positive impact on the Situbondo community.

This article explores Gus Iqdam’s Dakwah Bil Hikmah through the Sabilu Taubah Assembly, in light of the increasing prominence of majelis taklim (religious study assemblies), particularly in their methods, strategies, and use of media for dakwah (Islamic preaching). The Sabilu Taubah Assembly, led by Gus Iqdam, is notably popular among Nahdliyin communities. This study aims to analyze Gus Iqdam’s dakwah bil hikmah approach in uniting diverse groups through the Sabilu Taubah assembly. Utilizing a descriptive qualitative method, data collection techniques include observation, interviews, and documentation. Findings indicate that Gus Iqdam’s success in dakwah stems from his role as a preacher and mentor at the majelis taklim in Karanggayam Village, Srengat District, Blitar Regency. Gus Iqdam, also known as Agus Muhammad Iqdam, is a young preacher and leader within the Nahdlatul Ulama community. His dakwah work goes beyond delivering sermons, focusing on key elements essential for a successful dakwah practitioner, such as the rhetorical principles of ethos (hikmah), pathos (al-mau'idah hasanah), and logos ('al-Jidal billati hiya ahsan). This study aims to contribute to dakwah knowledge by reinforcing existing dakwah theories with its findings

Abstract

This article aims to explore the dialectic or encounter between the sacred and the profane within the nyalase religious tradition of the Madurese community. Nyalase is a customary practice in which members of the community gather at burial grounds to perform rituals such as cleaning the gravesite, planting ornamental plants on the graves, sharing meals at the cemetery, and holding communal prayers and tahlil (Islamic litany). These activities exemplify a dialectical process. The dialectic referred to in this study draws from Hegelian philosophy, in which two seemingly opposing elements are brought into reconciliation. To this day, the nyalase tradition remains actively practiced in Madura. In order to analyze the dialectic between the sacred and the profane within this tradition, the study refers to the thought of Mircea Eliade, who argues that human activity often simultaneously invokes both sacred and profane experiences. The sacred refers to that which holds spiritual or holy significance, while the profane denotes that which is considered ordinary or devoid of spiritual value. This research adopts a literature review method, utilizing books, articles, and other relevant references to explore the object of study. The findings indicate that the nyalase tradition serves as a mediating practice between the sacred and the profane, allowing the local community to encounter the experience of the sublime.

Abstract

Data from the Indonesian National Police (Polri) indicate that suicide ranks fourth among cases classified as public order disturbances in the country, with economic hardship cited as one of the primary causes. This phenomenon underscores the idea that worldly struggles can lead individuals to neglect the eternal nature of the afterlife. A particularly compelling issue arises from the fact that the majority of Indonesia’s population is Muslim; as such, the Qur’an should serve as a guide for life. The Qur’an strongly discourages despair, highlighting the vastness of God’s mercy, as emphasized in Surah Al-A’raf (7:56). This study focuses on two key questions: How does the Qur’an describe verses related to suicide (ayat al-intihar), and how can a causal analysis be derived from those verses? The objective is to identify Qur’anic verses with themes related to suicide and then conduct a causality-based analysis to understand the underlying causes and propose solutions. The research uses a qualitative approach through a library study, employing the thematic interpretation (tafsir maudh?‘?) method for verse collection and applying causality theory for analysis. The findings reveal that the Qur’anic foundation for the prohibition of suicide is primarily found in Surah An-Nisa’ (4:29) and Surah Al-Isra’ (17:33). The various factors that lead to suicide ultimately stem from a sense of despair caused by weakened faith in Allah, the Supreme Owner of life. Therefore, the most appropriate solution for individuals facing hardship is to remain patient and place their trust in Allah, as no problem exists in this world without a corresponding solution.
