Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between the level of comprehension and reading speed of students, the sample of which was students of SMAN 22 Bandung class XI-I. The data analysis technique was a test technique. Quantitative data analysis techniques were used to analyze the results of the reading comprehension test in the form of average scores. The data analysis procedure was to measure reading speed (KM) and measure reading ability (KMP). Based on the results of the study, it was found that the students' reading speed was 149.05 wpm with a reading comprehension of 59.07. This shows that the students' reading speed is still below the high school criteria of 250 wpm. Students are said to understand the contents of the reading if the level of comprehension reaches 40-60. In line with this statement, students can be said to understand the contents of the reading because they have a level of comprehension of 59.07. Therefore, it can be concluded that students tend to read carefully to better understand the contents of the reading text, which ultimately affects their reading speed to be below standard, while the understanding of the contents meets the student's standards.

Abstract

Reading is one of the important things in all kinds of learning processes. Through reading, various knowledge, which can lead to success, can be obtained. The purpose of this study was to determine the interest of class X-11 students in reading literature, both Sundanese literature and Indonesian literature. The results of the study showed that class X-11 students of SMAN 7 Tasikmalaya prefer to read stories in Indonesian compared to Sundanese. Some students said that Sundanese has many words that are very difficult to. understand, making them have to read repeatedly to understand. The method used in this study was descriptive qualitative, with a questionnaire distribution technique to class X-11 students of SMAN 7 Tasikmalaya. Based on the results of the analysis, it can be concluded that the reading interest of class X-11 students of SMAN 7 Tasikmalaya is still at a varying level, with a tendency to be quite low. Factors that influence include the availability of interesting reading materials, the use of more dominant digital media, and the lack of literacy culture in the school and family environment. Therefore, collaborative efforts are needed from schools, teachers, and parents to increase students’ motivation and interest in reading by providing adequate reading facilities, interesting literacy programs, and consistent support.

Abstract

The importance of reading as a basis for honing human abilities. Reading is a fundamental basic skill, becoming the basic foundation for various aspects of life, including learning, understanding, and personal development as well as improving language comprehension. Strong reading skills enable a person to master a field of study, access a lot of information, and broaden their horizons. The purpose of this study is so that researchers can invite readers to apply the mindset that reading plays a very important role in honing human abilities. Learning to read must be applied early on, and made a habit. Even though you can read, if you don't use it and don't make it a habit, it's useless. If someone can't read, the impact can be very broad, ranging from difficulty in learning, difficulty communicating, to lack of insight and critical thinking skills.

Abstract

Literacy is a very important aspect of life, as it enables access to various types of information. However, among the younger generation, literacy is rarely sought and tends to be neglected. The purpose of this study is to describe the influence of literature on literacy among the younger generation, to develop critical thinking skills through literary literacy, and to identify efforts to increase awareness of literary literacy among the younger generation. The research method used is a descriptive qualitative approach. Data collection techniques in this study include a literature review and the distribution of questionnaires to respondents regarding issues examined in the research, which will produce efforts to maintain literary literacy among the younger generation, identify literary works that are attractive to the younger generation, and determine media preferred by the younger generation to encourage their interest in literary literacy.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the importance of reading literacy in improving students' learning achievement and the factors that influence it both from internal and external aspects. The method used is a descriptive qualitative approach with literature study, which involves collecting and analyzing various written sources such as books, journals, articles, and official documents related to reading literacy and learning achievement. The results of the study indicate that reading literacy not only plays a role in the ability to understand texts, but also contributes significantly to students' motivation and academic achievement. Internal factors such as motivation, reading habits, and language skills as well as external factors such as family support, school environment, and community greatly determine students' reading interest. This study also highlights the importance of collaboration between teachers, parents, and the community in creating an environment that supports a culture of literacy so that students are able to achieve optimal learning achievement. In conclusion, improving reading literacy must be the main focus in educational strategies to face the challenges of today's digital era.
