Abstract

The objective of this research is to know whether there is any significant influence of using game online and improvement of the students’ vocabulary of Technology and Information Department at UNIMUDA Sorong. This research was quantitative research. The researcher used pre-experimental research design. The population was the student of technology and Information . The sample were first, third, and fifth semesters. The researcher ask the student to play the game with English instruction and search the new word that they don’t know before. Researcher used test (pre-test and post-test) as the instrument in collecting data. The test consisted 20 question which is divided into multiple choice, matching, gap in the filling and making sentences form. The researcher analyzed the data using SPSS 22.0 for Windows. The result of data analysis using SPSS 22.0, the researcher gave interpretation toward “t” score by comparing t-value or t-count with t-table. The researcher interpretation that t-value (-7.121) with the significant value is 0.000. The score of t-table is (1,729) with significant level of 0.05 with df 19. It is known that t-value is higher than t-table (-7.121> 1,729) and P value smaller than 0,05. Therefore, there is a significant influence of using game online to improve the students’ vocabulary of Technology and Information Department at UNIMUDA Sorong.

Abstract

In this study, the researcher used LRD strategy on narrative text to research The Influence of Using Listen-Read-Discuss (LRD) Strategy towards Students’ Reading Comprehension on Narrative Text at The Eleventh Grade of SMK Muhammadiyah Aimas, Sorong. This research was quantitative research. The researcher used quasi experimental research design. From the data analysis, the objective of this study is to know whether or not there is any significant influence of Listen-Read-Discuss (LRD) strategy towards students’ reading comprehension on narrative text at the eleventh grade of SMK Muhammadiyah Aimas, Sorong. Based on the data analysis, there is a significant influence of using Listen-Read-Discuss (LRD) strategy towards students’ reading comprehension on narrative text at the eleventh grade of SMK Muhammadiyah Aimas, Sorong after the strategy was applied.

Abstract

dominant kinds of errors and the cause of errors made by the first grade of MA Integral Hidayatullah Makbusun. The data were taken from the erroneous adjective clauses “who and whom” in present continues tense . The test was given by the researcher to the students at MA Integral Hidayatullah Makbusun in the first grade that consists of fifteen students. In analyzing the data, the writer took the result of student test as technique of collecting data. The writer calculated the frequency of errors for each kind and also counted the percentages of errors in the form of table to determine the dominant kind of errors. Finally, the researcher analyzed the cause of errors. After analyzing the data, the researcher found 56% in used who and 69% in used whom. The researcher found kinds of errors There are addition (20 errors or 11.76 %), ommision (44 errors or 25.88 %), subtitution (69 errors or 40.59 %) and ordering (37 error or 21.76%). Therefore, the subtitution error has the highest frequency (69 errors or 40.59%). It proved that the students do not understand the pattern and function of adjective clauses “who and whom” sentence since they often ignore to put an item needed in the well-formed adjective clause sentence. In this research, the writer found that those errors are caused the cause by three types, that is first language interference, overgeneralization, and ignorance of rule restriction. And factors cause of error are interlangual transfer and intralingual transfer. Interlangual transfer is the errors caused by the mother tongue influence. While, intralingual transfer is the error caused by the target language influence.

Abstract

The study is designed to investigate the students’ ability in using comparison degree on learning English especially in using irregular forms. To look their understanding about this matery the writer used method design descriptive design. Comparison degree was a compare between noun, people, and animal. Comparison degree has three type that was positive degree, comparative degree, and superlative degree. In taked the data of this study, the writer especially in taked data of comparative degree and superlative degree but just irregular forms. The sampling of data, the writer choose the students of the first grade at Madrasah Aliyah Muhammadiyah Aimas of number 20 person. The writer used written test as tools to take the data that was multiple-choise of number eighteen comparative degree and seventeen to superlative degree. Before doing research, the writer explains about comparison degree in irregular forms to the students and then the writer given tast about comparative degree in irregular forms to the students. First step done the author was giving material of paper to students about comparison degree in irregular form and both steps given the students exercise about matery had given as multiple-chooise. After that, exercise correct and analyze. By this test given by the author getting the data for her research. From 12 students of first grade at Madrasah Aliyah Muhammadiyah Aimas got score, to comparative degree in worse = 69%, better = 62%, farther = 85%, less = 69%, more = 96%, elder = 7,7%. Commonly, their ability can be seen based on the score of test, in which they got their mean of score of test was 47%. The writer can explain that the students of the first grade at Madrasah Aliyah Muhammadiyah Aimas yet understand about comparative degree, their ability was still including in bad category, and superlative degree specifically on worst = 65%, best = 50%, farthest = 23%, least = 8%, most = 31%, Eldest = 89%. In overall, can be seen their mean score of superlative degree = 32%. It means that their ability in superlative degree was very bad. By this result, the writer found that the students understanding on superlative degree was still very minus.

Abstract

This research is a case study that has been done in October until November 2013. The objective of this research was a group of students at seventh semester at Teacher Training and Education (STKIP) Muhammadiyah Sorong that was consists of five students. The aim of this research was to know whether ‘Everyone is Teacher Here’ is effective to improve students’ ability in classroom interaction.The design of this research was time series design that is equivalent time series design. The data of this research was analyzed through SPSS program that is Wilcoxon Test (nonparametric statistic). The steps of this research were: 1) selecting the participant 2) Measure for the first time 3) Giving the intervention 4) Measure for the second time 5) Giving the intervention 6) Measure for the third time 7) Giving the intervention 8) Measure for the fourth time. The data had gotten then analyzed. Based on the result of data analysis had gotten Asymp. Sig. (2-tailed) 0,0195 for the first and the second test, 0,0205 for the second and the third test and 0,017 for the third and the fourth test in which 0,0195, 0,0205 and 0,017 0,05, means that Ho was refused or Everyone is Teacher Here is effective to improve students’ ability in classroom interaction. In overall also got the result of the first and the fourth test with Asymp. Sig. (2-tailed) = 0,019 0,05, means that Ho was refused.

Abstract

In this study, the writer chose the students ability in using punctuation and capitalization through performing habit of writing diary at the second grade of SMP GUPPI Salawati. For that reason the writer wants to investigate and doing research in the library. The formulation of problem in this research are How is the students competence in apply writing mechanism, and what is the effect of performing habit of writing diary to increase students skill in writing mechanism. The methodology of this study is experimental study. it is means that its need statistic approach to explore the material. There are some of technique of collecting data such as the researcher after developing the test as the instrument of the research, asked the sample (students) to complete the text with punctuation, After they handed their works the writer checked the punctuation they had applied in the given text, and the writer analyze the comments or the mistake they made based on the theory. The result of this study is the writer found that teaching writing mechanism by performing habit of writing diary better than without performing habit of writing diary. It means that the students are more interest to write with writing diary and without writing diary.

Abstract

In this study, the writer wants to know how well the students’ ability of second grade at SMP Muhammadiyah Aimas in understanding preposition “by” and “with”. Why the writer took this problem because the prepositions are important classes of function word in English. The population of this study are the second grade (A are 24 students and B are 25 students) of SMP Muhammadiyah Aimas. The total number of the students are 49 students. the writer chose probability sampling to get samples. Because, SMP Muhammadiyah only has two class of second grade (2A and 2B). Based on information from the English teacher there, the class both have same ability in learning English.The writer gives tests to the students without a treatment. Because, the writer want to know the real students’ ability in understanding its.The writer gave fifty (50) items for the test. The kind of instrument is fill the blanks. And the writer used percentage form x 100% to analysed the data. From twenty-four (24) students the writer got result of students’ ability in using preposition “by” = 16.2%, students’ ability in using preposition “with” = 11.6%, and calculated in overall their ability was 56% on preposition “by” and “with” included in bad category.

Abstract

This study is carried out with the purposed that after gives the test by recount text. The students are hoped can be able to increase their ability in applying writing mechanism. This study is non-experimental research. Non-experimental is used as the mean in collecting the data. The population of this study was the students at the Third Grade of MAN Model Sorong in the years 2014/2015, by the number were 180 students. The sample of this study was the students of XII IPA I by the number were 23 students. The writer used only one test and non-experimental design in this study. The result of study was presented into tables and had explained by percentage. In analysing data, the writer used table of category and score range in writing based on Sahidu. The result of this study showed that there were 11 students in excellent category (47,8%), 7 students in good category (30,4%), 4 students in average category (17.3%) and the last in poor category 1 student (4,34%). The mean from 23 students, there are 11 students almost writing perfectly in using the 6 elements in punctuation and capital letters. The writer concluded that ability of the students in XII IPA I in MAN MODEL Sorong was used capital letters and punctuation good enough.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to analyze the students’ error in using past continues tense. The specific objectives were to analyze kinds of error made by the students, to analyze the dominant kind of the students’ error and further more to found out their probably causes. In analyzing data, the writer were giving test to the students to measure the students’ results of their ability and analyze their cases in their study on using past continues tense. The writer took points in every student works, counted it and analyzed. This study were using quantitative descriptive research, in which include counted on analyzed and present the result of study by described on concluding it. The data took from the population of the second grade of SMP Muhammadiyah Aimas were include two class and the writer took the sample from12 (twelve) students from one class. The students of this study had been studied the theory of past continues tense before it. First step in collecting data the writer gave explanation related the theory of past continues tense to follow up the students’ memories in understanding, share the worksheet then explaining the instruction of the test before gave the test. By the observation to the students’ result test, she found four kinds of the students’ error with the frequency: error in addition= 53 (25, 24%), error in omission= 60 (28, 57%), error in miss-formation = 57(27, 14%), and error in miss-ordering = 40 (19, 05%) and the most dominant error was error in omission = 60 (28, 57%). The causes of error were classified based on the theory by John Norris (carelessness, first language interference, and translation), analyzed on the students’ results test.

Abstract

This study was carried out with the purpose to measure the effectiveness of Presentation Method in increasing students’ ability in explaining cases. This study is quantitative research. Quantitative research was used as the mean in collecting the data. The population of this study was the students at the Second Grade of MAN Model Sorong in the years 2014/2015, by the number were 208 students. The sample of this study was the students of XI IPA 2 by the number were 30 students and XI IPA 3 by the number were 28 students. The writer used pretest- posttest control group design of true experimental design in this study. The result of study was presented into tables and had explained by percentage. In analyzing data the writer used the application of SPSS 18. The result of this study showed that there was an increasing score of students at experimental group. The mean pretest of both experimental group and control group before were 45. Then after treatment was given to experimental group the mean was 80. But the mean of control group was 40,25. It means that Presentation Method is effective to increase students’ ability in explaining cases. The result of this study showed that the T value > T table = 17.667 > 2.093. It means that the hypothesis of this study was accepted. The writer concluded that Presentation Method can increase student’s ability in explaining the cases.
