Abstract

This study aims to describe mathematics learning difficulties among elementary school students based on the findings of previous research. Mathematics is one of the fundamental subjects that plays an important role in developing students' logical, critical, systematic, and analytical thinking skills. However, in the learning process, many elementary school students still experience difficulties in understanding mathematical concepts, performing arithmetic operations, solving word problems, and applying mathematical concepts in everyday life. These difficulties are influenced by various factors, including both internal and external factors. This study employed a qualitative approach using a literature review method. The data were collected through the review of scientific journals, research articles, reference books, and other academic documents relevant to the research topic. Documentation was used as the data collection technique, while content analysis was employed as the data analysis technique. The findings indicate that mathematics learning difficulties among elementary school students include difficulties in understanding mathematical concepts, performing calculations, understanding mathematical symbols, and solving problem-solving tasks. The dominant contributing factors include low learning interest, lack of motivation, less varied teaching methods, and limited use of concrete learning media. Therefore, innovative, contextual, and student-centered learning strategies are needed to minimize mathematics learning difficulties.

Abstract

This study aims to describe character education strategies that teachers can apply to produce elementary school students who are inclusive and ethical. Character education in elementary schools plays an important role in shaping students' tolerance, empathy, and responsibility, especially in diverse classrooms that accommodate children with special needs. This research uses a descriptive qualitative approach with a library research method, reviewing, comparing, and synthesizing various scientific sources such as journal articles, books, and previous studies relevant to character education, inclusive education, and student ethics. The results show that effective character education strategies for producing inclusive and ethical students include teacher role modelling, habituation of virtuous values, cross-ability collaborative learning, positive reinforcement, and the comprehensive involvement of parents and the school environment. The consistent application of these strategies has been shown to foster mutual respect for differences, empathy toward peers, and ethical behavior in social interaction within the school environment. Thus, inclusion-based character education needs to be planned and implemented in a sustainable manner so that elementary schools can produce a generation that is not only academically intelligent but also of good character, inclusive, and ethical.

Abstract

This study aims to enhance the active engagement and learning enthusiasm of fourth-grade elementary school students through the implementation of the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model. Low levels of student engagement and enthusiasm during the learning process constitute a problem that can hinder the achievement of learning objectives. This study employed Classroom Action Research (CAR) involving 25 fourth-grade elementary school students. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation to assess changes in student engagement and enthusiasm following the implementation of the Problem-Based Learning model. The results indicate that the Problem-Based Learning model successfully increased students' active participation in learning. Students became more enthusiastic about learning activities, more active in discussions, more confident in expressing their opinions, and capable of collaborating to solve problems assigned by the teacher. Learning also became more meaningful as the material was linked to issues relevant to the students' daily lives. Thus, the Problem-Based Learning model serves as an effective solution for boosting the engagement and enthusiasm of elementary school students, making the learning process more active, creative, and meaningful. Abstract

Education plays a crucial role in shaping high-quality human resources capable of competing in the global era. It focuses not only on imparting knowledge but also on instilling moral values, character building, and developing critical thinking skills. However, in practice, many elementary school students still struggle with critical thinking—such as identifying problems, providing logical reasoning, drawing conclusions, and actively participating in discussions and problem-solving. One approach to addressing these issues is "deep learning." This approach emphasizes a deeper understanding by connecting subject matter to real-life situations and encouraging students to think reflectively and analytically. This study aims to describe the implementation of deep learning in Natural and Social Sciences (IPAS) instruction for fifth-grade students at SD Negeri Gedongkuning. A qualitative descriptive method was employed, utilizing data collection techniques such as observation, interviews, and documentation. The results indicate that implementing deep learning fosters greater student engagement and enhances critical thinking skills. Nevertheless, challenges remain, including limited instructional time, a lack of supporting facilities, and varying levels of teacher readiness to implement the approach. Therefore, support from schools, the government, teachers, and parents is essential to ensure the optimal implementation of deep learning. (Nuraida & Mulyanti, 2026).

Abstract

Education plays a strategic role in developing the quality of human resources while also serving as the primary means of shaping the character of a nation. However, educational practices in schools often remain focused on academic achievement and pay insufficient attention to the emotional development of students. In fact, healthy emotional development is an essential factor that influences learning success, social development, and children's character formation. This article aims to examine the importance of education that not only emphasizes the acquisition of knowledge but also touches children's emotions through humanistic and meaningful learning. This study employs a library research method by analyzing various books, scientific journals, and relevant documents related to character education, emotional intelligence, and humanistic learning. The findings of the study indicate that a classroom environment capable of meeting students' emotional needs can enhance learning motivation, self-confidence, social skills, and the development of positive character. Teachers play a central role in creating a safe, supportive, and empathetic learning environment through positive communication, respect for individual differences, and the provision of emotional support to students. Education that nurtures children's emotions helps develop a generation that is not only intellectually competent but also emotionally and socially mature. Therefore, sustainable nation-building should begin in the classroom by fostering an educational environment that develops both students' minds and hearts.
