Abstract

This study critically evaluates the operationalization of Fairclough’s three-dimensional Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA) model within visual media studies centering on customary patriarchy through a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) spanning 2016–2026. Adhering to the PRISMA 2020 protocol, 21 Sinta-indexed journal articles in Indonesia met the inclusion criteria and were analyzed using a thematic narrative approach. The findings reveal a predominance of Connell’s Hegemonic Masculinity theory (47,6%) as the primary integrative framework. However, three critical methodological gaps emerged: a lack of substantial multimodal analysis at the textual (micro) dimension (33,3%), the neglect of the discursive practice (meso) dimension (23,8%) as a methodological blind spot, and a socio-cultural practice (macro) analysis that tends to be overly generalistic rather than specific to customary institutions. To address these limitations, this study synthesizes a novel conceptual model termed the Framework for Analyzing Customary Patriarchal Power (FACPP) in cinema. This framework integrates linguistic and multimodal analyses at the micro level, mandates production-intertextuality-reception components at the meso level, and specifically dissects customary institutions at the macro level with a strong orientation toward female agency and symbolic transformation. FACPP offers a significant methodological contribution to the advancement of critical discourse studies and contemporary audio-visual research in Indonesia.

Abstract

This study aims to develop a Flight Training Device (FTD)-based learning medium for Cessna 182T Skylane, designed for Indonesian Air Force Academy (AAU) cadets in an introductory flight training program. The research employed the ADDIE (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation) research and development model. The research subjects consisted of 50 AAU cadets selected through purposive sampling. Data collection instruments included expert content validation questionnaires (21 items, 1–4 scale), expert media validation questionnaires (19 items, 1–4 scale), and cadet perception questionnaires (25 items, 1–5 scale). The effectiveness of the medium was measured using normalized N-Gain analysis based on pre-test and post-test scores. Results showed content feasibility at 95.97% (Very Feasible), media feasibility at 92.50% (Very Feasible), and cadet perception at 93.04% (Very Good). The N-Gain analysis yielded a mean value of 0.5265, classified as "Moderate" according to Hake's (1998) criteria. This study concludes that the Cessna 182T Skylane-based FTD is feasible and effective as an introductory flight training learning medium at AAU.

Abstract

The maritime industry plays a strategic role in supporting economic sustainability, making the implementation of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) practices increasingly relevant. This study examines the effect of ESG practices on employee performance through organizational engagement in the maritime industry. ESG practices are represented by Perceived Environmental Practices (PEP), Perceived Social Practices (PSP), and Perceived Governance Practices (PGP), while employee performance is reflected in Intention to Stay (INS) and Organizational Citizenship Behavior (OCB). Using a quantitative approach, data were collected from 119 employees through purposive sampling and analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling–Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS). The results show that PEP and PSP have positive and significant effects on Organizational Engagement (OE), whereas PGP has no significant effect. ESG practices do not directly influence INS, while only PSP has a significant direct effect on OCB. The mediation analysis reveals that OE fully mediates the effects of PEP and PSP on INS. OE also fully mediates the effect of PEP on OCB and partially mediates the effect of PSP on OCB, while PGP shows no mediation effect. These findings emphasize the importance of organizational engagement in translating environmental and social ESG practices into improved employee retention and extra-role behavior.

Abstract

The emergence of digital platforms from search engines and social media to religious podcasts and generative artificial intelligence has fundamentally altered how the digital generation acquires, verifies, and internalizes religious knowledge. This phenomenon gives rise to a crisis of religious authority among students, characterized by the erosion of recognition for Islamic Religious Education (PAI) teachers as legitimate primary sources of religious knowledge. This study aims to analyze the shift in religious authority within the digital generation, identify its contributing factors, examine its implications for PAI learning in schools, and formulate a model for reconstructing the role of PAI teachers responsive to the digital era. Employing a library research method with a qualitative approach and content analysis technique, this study reviews recent scholarly sources from 2020 to 2026. Findings indicate that a shift in religious authority has occurred from authority-based to algorithm-based learning; the religious authority crisis is not caused by a scarcity of religious information, but rather by an epistemologically unvalidated information flood; this crisis produces dual effects: expanding access to religious knowledge while undermining the quality of critical religious understanding; and reconstructing the role of PAI teachers from knowledge transmitters to digital religious literacy curators is an imperative. This article proposes the Digital Religious Literacy-Based Islamic Education (DRLIBIE) conceptual model as an operational framework for strengthening PAI in the digital age.

Abstract

The research investigates the ways in which gender-based discrimination manifests itself through rising incidents of Online Gender Based Violence (OGBV) which take place on social media networks. The research study used qualitative methods which combined Feminist Participatory Action Research to study how women experience OGBV in online spaces. The study collected data through detailed interviews with five social media users who had encountered OGBV. The study findings proved that sexual violence is not only in the form of direct attacks, but also indirect violence, also known as symbolic violence, internalized through social norms and structures that reinforce gender inequality, including in the digital spaces. OGBV is an act that has psychological, social, and economic impacts on its victims and therefore needs to be combated in various ways. It is hoped that this research can contribute to combating OGBV by providing a cyberfeminist analysis in understanding OGBV as digital violence. This understanding is expected to change the public's perspective on OGBV, so that when such incidents occur, the first action is to side with the victim and blame the perpetrator, rather than the other way around.

Abstract

This study examines how health communication is planned, implemented, mediated, and received within the stunting-prevention program in Kapuas Barat District, Kapuas Regency. A descriptive qualitative design was conducted at Mandomai Community Health Center. Data were collected through semi-structured in-depth interviews, direct observation, and documentation involving ten informants representing health professionals, health workers, a posyandu leader, village government, pregnant women, mothers of toddlers, and a newly married community member. Data were analyzed through reduction, display, conclusion drawing, and verification. Lasswell's communication model and Rogers' diffusion of innovations theory guided interpretation. The findings show that communication is active but embedded in routine maternal and child health services rather than organized through a written, segmented, and outcome-based strategy. Trusted face-to-face interaction through health workers and posyandu actors remains the dominant channel, supported by maternal and child health books, posters, leaflets, and limited digital media. Messages are practical and broadly accepted, but preconception audiences, spouses, and families are reached inconsistently. Knowledge and persuasion are more visible than sustained implementation and confirmation because economic conditions, time, distance, and service access constrain action. The study's original contribution is an integrated diagnostic framework that links Lasswell's five communication elements with Rogers' adoption stages to identify where message delivery fails to develop into stable preventive behavior. The study recommends life-stage audience segmentation, coordinated multichannel reinforcement, stronger local communicators, ethical and non-stigmatizing communication, and outcome-based evaluation.

Abstract

Traditional fish-boiling (pemindangan) businesses play a vital role in enhancing the value-added of fishery products and boosting the income of coastal communities; however, most operators have not conducted systematic financial analyses, leaving the business's viability uncertain. This study aims to analyze the financial status of traditional fish-boiling businesses in Apitaik Village, Pringgabaya District, East Lombok Regency. A quantitative descriptive approach involving financial analysis was employed. Data were gathered through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation involving five business operators selected via purposive sampling. The analysis covered production costs, revenue, income, and business viability using the Revenue-Cost Ratio (R/C Ratio), Break-Even Point (BEP), and Return on Investment (ROI) indicators. The results indicate an average daily production of 450 kilograms with a selling price of IDR 17,000 per kilogram. Average daily revenue stood at IDR 7,650,000 against production costs of IDR 6,452,000, resulting in an average daily income of IDR 1,198,000. An R/C Ratio of 1.18 indicates the business is viable; the BEP of 379 kilograms per day falls below the average production level; and an ROI of 18.5% demonstrates a profitable return. The study concludes that traditional fish-boiling businesses are viable for further development, though improved financial record-keeping and production cost management are necessary to ensure business sustainability.

Abstract

This study aims to develop a Culturally Responsive Management Model (CRMM) based on the principles of educational decolonization to strengthen inclusive education governance in empowering indigenous Papuan children in elementary schools through the integration of local cultural values, culturally responsive leadership, and collaborative partnerships between schools and indigenous communities. This study uses a Design and Development Research (DDR) approach that allows the development of empirical evidence-based models through three main stages: needs analysis, model design and development, and model validation and refinement. The study was conducted in elementary schools serving indigenous communities in Merauke Regency, South Papua Province, involving 43 informants consisting of principals, teachers, school supervisors, parents of students, traditional leaders, representatives of the Education Office, and academics. Data were collected through document studies, participatory observations, semi-structured interviews, Focus Group Discussions (FGDs), and expert validation, then analyzed using a thematic analysis approach. The results of the study produced a CRMM consisting of four main components: indigenous knowledge recognition, culturally responsive school leadership, indigenous community engagement, and inclusive institutional transformation. The findings indicate that strengthening inclusive education for indigenous Papuan children requires not only increased access to education but also a transformation of school governance that recognizes cultural identity, local knowledge systems, and the role of indigenous communities as strategic partners in education. This model contributes to the development of inclusive education studies through the integration of decolonization perspectives, epistemic justice, and culturally responsive education management. Practically, CRMM provides a strategic framework for schools and stakeholders in building an inclusive, contextual, and sustainable education system for indigenous Papuans.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the use of calung jinjing as a medium for local wisdom-based music education at Madrasah Aliyah Al-Ghozali. It employs a qualitative approach with a case study design. Conducted over one semester, the study gathered data through observation, interviews, and documentation. The subjects included the Arts and Culture teacher and students participating in music lessons utilizing calung jinjing. Data analysis followed the Miles and Huberman model, comprising data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The results indicate that the use of calung jinjing fosters a learning process that is more active, contextual, and meaningful. Students demonstrated progress in traditional instrument proficiency, performance confidence, learning motivation, and collaborative skills. Furthermore, the instruction contributed to cultivating an appreciation for local culture and an awareness of the need to preserve it. The implementation was supported by teacher readiness, student enthusiasm, institutional support, and the availability of the instruments. Challenges encountered included disparities in students' initial skill levels, a limited number of instruments, and time constraints. Thus, calung jinjing is a suitable medium for local wisdom-based music education in Madrasah Aliyah.

Abstract

This article examines the local idiom ngelangkahin gunung as a principle of melodic movement in the gilak section of Tabuh Pat Parianom in the Batur style and explains its transformation into the gegilakan section of Cipta Komposisi Gamelan Saraswati. The study employed a two-phase practice-based research design. The first phase examined the colotomic structure, melodic contour, inter-pitch relationships, and distinctions between mapah movement and leaping motion in the notated documentation of Tabuh Pat Parianom. The second phase applied the analytical findings through a compositional process integrating Sukerta’s formulation of creative ideas, Beratha’s stages of musical refinement, and the Panca Sthiti Ngawi Sani framework. The analysis shows that the 32-beat cycle of the source gilak is characterized by a predominantly mapah melodic movement in the first line, whereas the second to fourth lines contain eight leap segments that skip at least one intervening pitch within the five-tone pelog sequence. This feature is operationalized as ngelangkahin gunung, rather than treated merely as an intuitive metaphor. In the Saraswati composition, the principle is transformed through the reordering of source material, the selection of melodic cells, and their development into a 24-beat gegilakan organized into three eight-beat lines. The findings demonstrate that local musical knowledge can function simultaneously as an analytical device and a compositional strategy without being reduced to a universal theory. The article contributes a set of verifiable criteria for identifying ngelangkahin gunung and documents the process through which traditional repertoire is transformed into a new composition.
