Abstract

This study seeks to elucidate the function of KKN students as catalysts in enhancing religious values and fostering international relations. The international KKN program represents a distinctive community service model that emphasizes human resource development and cross-cultural social integration. This research focuses on the contributions of students from the Faculty of Islamic Studies at UNISMA Bekasi within service-oriented activities involving madrasah students and local communities in Thailand. This study employs a mixed-method approach, integrating qualitative and quantitative data within a descriptive framework. Data were collected through observation, documentation, and semi-structured interviews conducted with key informants, including KKN students, madrasah students, and members of the local community. The interviews explored participants’ perceptions of student roles, program effectiveness, and the impact on religious practices and intercultural interaction. The findings indicate that the active involvement of KKN students was positively received by both madrasah students and the local community. Interview results reveal that students played a significant role in strengthening religious understanding, promoting collaborative activities, and facilitating intercultural communication. These outcomes demonstrate that KKN students effectively functioned as catalysts in enhancing religious values and fostering international relations within the community context in Thailand.

Abstract

The program sought to strengthen the pedagogical capacity of teachers at SMA Muhammadiyah 01 Weleri, Kendal (Central Java), through the application of role‑playing methods and the use of tangible instructional media. Implemented through a participatory training model, the activities encompassed conceptual reinforcement, guided demonstrations, structured simulations and role‑playing exercises, as well as reflective discussions. Learning supports such as a Kaaba miniature and sequenced manāsik simulation materials were employed to promote hands‑on learning and active participation. The outcomes of the program indicate enhanced teacher understanding of both procedural and conceptual aspects of the rituals, increased confidence in facilitating simulation‑based instruction, and improved ability to design interactive and engaging lesson plans. The novelty of this program lies in integrating role-play pedagogy with tangible ritual-learning media to strengthen practical, student-centred religious instruction. These findings suggest policy implications for schools and teacher development programs, including the adoption of experiential manasik modules and the provision of ritual-learning kits to improve the quality of Islamic religious education.

Abstract

This program aims to enhance accurate Qur’anic reading skills, reinforce religious understanding, and foster community participation in sustainable Qur’anic education. The community service methodology employed a structured approach, including needs assessment, program planning, instructional implementation through lectures, discussions, and hands-on practice, as well as supporting activities, monitoring, and evaluation based on observations, competency tests, and participant feedback. The findings indicate a significant improvement in participants’ ability to read the Qur’an with proper tajwid, increasing from approximately 50% prior to the program to 85% after its implementation, along with improved basic comprehension of Qur’anic content among 75% of participants. The program also strengthened the roles of Qur’anic teachers, religious leaders, parents, and the broader community in creating a participatory Qur’anic learning ecosystem. From a policy perspective, these findings highlight the need for support from local governments, religious institutions, and relevant stakeholders in developing community-based Qur’anic literacy programs, enhancing the capacity of Qur’anic instructors, providing adequate learning facilities, and establishing independent learning groups as a strategy for sustaining religious education at the village level.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to examine and describe the improvement of students’ ability to read the Qur’an through the implementation of the Tilawati method from a behavioristic learning theory perspective. The methodology used is field research with a descriptive qualitative approach. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, and then analyzed using content analysis techniques. The results and discussion indicate that the implementation of the Tilawati method is carried out systematically through both classical and individual approaches, utilizing the rost melody and repetitive exercises as reinforcement. This method has proven to improve students’ ability to recognize hijaiyah letters, pronounce makharijul huruf correctly, and read the Qur’an more fluently and accurately (tartil). In addition, students show positive responses and higher learning motivation. From a behavioristic perspective, the learning process reflects the presence of stimulus, response, and reinforcement that effectively shape good and correct Qur’an reading habits. The implication of this study shows that the Tilawati method can be used as an effective and practical alternative learning strategy to improve students’ Qur’an reading skills and can be adapted to other Islamic educational institutions with similar conditions.

Abstract

This community service program aims to strengthen the spiritual readiness and religious understanding of Indonesian Muslim communities in Japan in preparation for the month of Ramadan through a series of mosque-based activities. The activities were carried out using a participatory approach through thematic lectures, Qur’an recitation, shalawat, sharing sessions on the experiences of Muslim migrants, and question-and-answer sessions led by speakers from academic and religious circles who understand the socio-cultural context of Japan. The results show a high level of enthusiasm among participants, reflected in attendance, attentiveness during the sessions, and active participation in discussions on Ramadan worship practices in workplace, campus, and family settings. This series also strengthened scholarly and institutional networks between PCINU Japan, local mosque committees, and universities in Indonesia, and reinforced the function of mosques as a “homecoming space” and a center for consolidating Islam Nusantara in a non-Muslim-majority country. The Tarhib Ramadan program model and the dynamics of these community mosques have the potential to be replicated in other Indonesian Muslim communities abroad as an effort to enhance religious literacy, Ramadan spirituality, and social cohesion among the diaspora.

Abstract

The rapid development of digital technology in educational environments presents both opportunities and risks for students, including misuse of personal data, cyberbullying, and exposure to negative online content. This condition highlights the importance of strengthening digital literacy and security awareness within madrasah settings. This community service program aimed to enhance teachers’ understanding of digital risk management in order to create a safe and productive learning environment. The program was conducted at Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Al-Ibrohimy Galis and involved 14 teachers. The implementation employed a participatory approach consisting of needs analysis, training and workshops, as well as mentoring and evaluation. The training materials covered digital risks, data security, digital ethics, and cyberbullying prevention. Evaluation was conducted through pre-tests, post-tests, observations, and reflective discussions. The results showed a significant improvement in teachers’ understanding of digital risks, with the average score increasing from 58 in the pre - test to 84 in the post - test. In addition, the program produced a digital security Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for the madrasah as a guideline for safe and responsible technology management. These findings indicate that participatory-based training is effective in strengthening digital literacy and digital security governance in primary education.

Abstract

The low level of fluency and accuracy in the application of tajwid rules in Qur’anic recitation remains a significant issue at Madrasah Diniyah Nurul Huda, affecting students’ understanding and practice of Islamic teachings. This community service program aims to improve students’ Qur’anic reading skills through the implementation of the An-Nahdliyah method, which emphasizes tartil reading habits, guided classical instruction, rhythmic beat techniques, and tiered evaluation. The implementation method consists of initial observation, program planning, intensive instructional activities, mentoring, and evaluation. The results indicate a significant improvement in students’ ability to articulate makharijul huruf, apply tajwid rules accurately, and demonstrate increased confidence in Qur’anic recitation. In addition, the program contributes to strengthening the religious culture within the madrasah environment. The novelty of this program lies in the systematic integration of the An-Nahdliyah method within an intensive mentoring-based community service framework. The implications suggest that the An-Nahdliyah method can serve as an effective and practical model for Qur’anic learning and has the potential to be adopted in policies related to the development of religious education in madrasah diniyah.
