Zad Al-Ummah is a Journal of Community Service published twice a year (per semester) by the Pusat Penelitian dan Pengabdian Masyarakat (P3M) of the Sekolah Tinggi Ilmu Al-Quran (STIQ) ZAD Cianjur. Obviously, this journal was developed to realize the Tri Dharma of Higher Education of the ZAD College of Quranic Sciences and Tafsir Study Program, managed by experts and academics in the field of Quranic Sciences and Tafsir. In line with the vision of this journal which focuses on the results of community service in the field of Al-Quran and Tafsir science, by publishing the results of community service in the form of other actual community service programs related to the study of Al-Quran and Tafsir science.

Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to describe the role of Real Work Lecture (KKN) students in Cibodas Village, Cimacan Village, Cianjur Regency in helping to improve the quality of Qur'an education. The results of the discussion showed that KKN students made a real contribution to helping to improve the Qur'an learning system in the community, one of which was through the Al-Qur'an Education Park activities, tajweed and tahsin training, and teacher coaching. In addition to helping teach children how to read the Qur'an, the activity also strengthens the relationship between students and the surrounding community. Therefore, this paper provides an overview that the KKN program is a real part of the education of Islamic students in the development of religious education in the community.

Abstract

This service aims to develop students' abilities in improving their teaching skills. Teaching to the community as a form of service to the community and religious community. Teaching to the community to help the community in solving unanswered problems in order to form a prosperous society and life lessons for the surrounding community. Student involvement in the process of teaching knowledge to the community is a step towards achieving this goal. This program not only improves the quality of teaching, but also helps to increase students' sense of responsibility towards religion and community, as well as the knowledge that has been achieved during the learning period.

Abstract

Character education and development for boarding school students within the boarding school environment is one of the key priorities in Field Experience Practice (FEP) as a tangible contribution to fostering a generation that loves the Qur’an and possesses noble character. This activity was conducted at Pondok Pesantren Fath Darut Tafsir Bogor using a descriptive qualitative approach through the method of reflective experience. The author had the opportunity to participate in the learning process of various subjects, halaqah development, and other boarding school activities. The results of this service show an increase in the understanding and application of Islamic character values by the students. This experience reinforces that character development based on Qur’anic values and direct practice at the boarding school has a significant impact on the formation of the students’ personalities.

Abstract

This study aims to improve Qur’an reading proficiency with tartīl and tajwīd through a community-based tahsin program using behaviorist, andragogical, and living Qur’an approaches. The two-day program combined classical methods for strengthening tajwīd theory and talaqqi musyāfahah for personalized coaching. A total of 35 mothers participated through a participatory recruitment process, supported by local leaders and university students. Evaluation tools included pre-tests, post-tests, direct observation, and tutor assessment sheets. The results showed significant improvements in makhārijul ḥurūf articulation, proper intonation, and reading confidence. A self-sustained Qur’anic study group emerged at the neighborhood level (RT), continuing the learning process independently. The novelty of this study lies in the integration of three pedagogical approaches within a contextual, community-based learning model, as well as in the empowerment of village women as agents of religious literacy within the family. The program demonstrates the potential of tahsin as a vehicle for sustainable social and religious transformation. Further development is recommended through a community tahsin curriculum, advanced training, and cross-institutional collaboration to strengthen Qur’anic culture at the grassroots level.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the values of tawḥīd and anti-shirk corrections in Surah Āli ‘Imrān thematically and to formulate applicable ‘aqīdah education strategies in the modern context. Employing a qualitative approach with the thematic exegesis (tafsīr mawḍū‘ī) method, the research compiles verses related to rubūbiyyah, ulūhiyyah, asmāʾ wa ṣifāt, and warnings against shirk, then analyzes them based on classical exegesis (Ibn Kathīr, al-Ṭabarī, al-Baghawī) and contemporary interpretations (al-Misbah). Data were collected through library research and analyzed using thematic content analysis. The findings identify three main subthemes: (1) steadfastness of faith and Islamic brotherhood (verses 102–104); (2) family-based education as a medium for ‘aqīdah transmission (verses 33–37); and (3) strengthening faith through reflection on Allah’s creation (verses 190–200). Comparative analysis reveals consistency with previous studies while offering a novel contribution in the form of an implementable tawḥīd education model integrating cognitive, affective, and psychomotor learning domains. Theoretically, the study underscores the importance of thematic exegesis as a bridge between Qur’ānic text and ‘aqīdah curriculum design.

Abstract

The purpose of this community service is to provide socialization and assistance regarding the application of the tahsin method to improve the ability to read the Qur'an with proper tajwid and makharijul huruf. This Community Service (PkM) was carried out at the Majelis Ta'lim Khairunnisa Kavling Polri Ragunan. The method of implementing community service, among others: 1) Observation stage, at this stage the PkM implementing team conducted observations at the Majelis Ta'lim. The PkM team asked permission from the head of the majelis ta'lim, determined the schedule and discussed the appropriate material or theme of service and the facilities to be used, 2) Planning stage, at this stage the PkM team provided supplies and prepared a PkM proposal, 3) Preparation stage, at this stage the PkM Team communicated again with the majelis ta'lim to determine the number of participants, place and method of socialization, 4) Implementation stage, at this stage the PkM activities took place, namely presentation and practice (mentoring), the next activity was a discussion or question and answer session related to the material, and continued with an evaluation. The results achieved in this community service are: 1) members of the Khaitunnisa Ta'lim Assembly in the Ragunan Police Station (Kavling Polri) have learned and understood the tahsin method; 2) members of the Ta'lim Assembly have improved their ability to read the Quran well, thus producing Qur'anic individuals who are not only able to read but also understand and apply its contents in their daily lives; and 3) publication of articles in journals.

Abstract

This community service program aims to improve the ability of elderly individuals to read the Qur’an in RT/RW 003/010 Pamulang Permai 1, Pamulang Barat District, South Tangerang, Banten. Many elderly people in the area are unable to read the Qur’an due to limited access to religious education during their youth and cognitive decline in older age. To address this issue, the Bagdadi method was employed, known for its structured and gradual approach to Qur’anic reading instruction. The program was carried out using an action research model consisting of four stages: planning, action, observation-evaluation, and reflection. The results show a significant improvement in participants’ ability to recognize Arabic letters, pronunciation, and basic tajwid rules. Beyond technical improvements, the program also fostered a stronger spiritual connection and increased social engagement among the elderly. This initiative is expected to serve as a model for inclusive and sustainable Qur’an education for senior communities.

Abstract

This community service activity aims to improve the social skills of students with mild intellectual disabilities through the innovative TASBIQI (Tangga Sosial Bernilai Qur'ani or Qur'anic Values Social Ladder) game, which integrates Qur'anic values such as honesty, cooperation, and responsibility into a fun learning process. The implementation method used a participatory and applicative approach with three main stages: socialisation, implementation, and evaluation. The community service was carried out for two weeks at the Jenangan Ponorogo State Special School, involving five students with mild intellectual disabilities and one accompanying teacher. Data was obtained through observation of social behaviour, simple pre-tests and post-tests, and joint reflection with teachers. The results of the activity showed a significant improvement in the students' social behaviour, particularly in honesty, cooperation, and communication, with an average score increase of around 35%. Teachers and students showed high enthusiasm, and the TASBIQI media was considered easy to adapt in the learning process. The novelty of this activity lies in the integration of Qur'anic values into interactive game media specifically designed for children with mild intellectual disabilities. The policy implications of this activity encourage schools and education stakeholders to adopt creative and contextual learning media in supporting inclusive education.

Abstract

The development of the global era demands improvements in the quality of human resources through continuing education as a foundation for national progress. This community service program is highly urgent because it contributes to raising awareness of the importance of continuing education for the community in Batah Barat Village, Madura. The goal is to increase community understanding and motivation to actively participate in lifelong education. The community service method uses a participatory approach through outreach, interactive discussions, and collective reflection so that participants not only receive information but also engage in discussions about local solutions. The results of the activity indicate a high level of motivation in the community's understanding of the benefits of continuing education, especially in facing global challenges in the fields of employment, technology, and digital literacy. This new activity focuses on integrating digital literacy into the socialization of continuing education, which has an impact on policy recommendations for increasing access to and participation in education at the village level.Keywords: globalization, public awareness, further education.

Abstract

The purpose of this community service is to instill values of discipline, responsibility, courage, patience, and cooperation through physical activities that are religious and educational in nature. The methodology used in this activity is based on a qualitative approach with a case study method, where the implementation process is carried out through observation, interviews, and direct mentoring of students participating in horse riding activities. The results of the activity show that horse riding training has a significant influence on changes in the attitudes and behavior of students. They become more disciplined, resilient, and have a high sense of empathy and responsibility, both towards themselves and their surroundings. Horse riding activities not only build physical strength, but also instill spiritual values through the example of the Prophet Muhammad SAW, who made horse riding a noble sunnah. The novelty of this community service activity lies in the Sunnah-based character education model contextualized in the life of Islamic boarding schools. The integration of Sunnah sports and Islamic character values is an innovation in non-formal learning approaches that touch on the physical, moral, and spiritual aspects of students. The implications for educational policy indicate the need to strengthen Islamic-based extracurricular activities in educational institutions so that character education does not stop at the theoretical level but is also implemented in meaningful real-world activities.
